The day where imperfections were perfect, diversity was never diverse, and the day that filled the campus with laughter and smiles was ETHNIC DAY!
The day every Jayantian waits for is finally here. It was that time of the year when all cultures came together, embracing the traditions that make us who we are. The fluttering outfits, the jingling of ornaments, the endless camera clicks, candid shots of ladies, and cheerful greetings from men were never-ending. Banners, lights, and laughter filled the campus, vividly depicting several cultures, languages, and traditions. Students proudly represented many North and South regions, a kaleidoscope of colors and cultures, each glistening under the sun's rays in an ethnic procession that began the day.
Lavani, Bhangra, Dhunuchi, Bharatanatyam, Changsang, and Kaikottikali lit up the college, shaking the ground with their energy. The Chandi Melam from Kerala was the highlight, with its rhythmic beats echoing across the campus. The event was planned in three arenas- turf, quadrangle, and humanities block- but more was unnecessary to contain the excitement.
This was my last Ethnic Day, and one of the most cherished traditions of Ethnic Day was the class picture in front of the main block (science block). This year, I compared our photos from previous years, standing in the same spot but with different outfits. It was a bittersweet moment, but instead of dwelling on it, I chose to celebrate and soak in every second of the day, and it made me realize just how fast the night changes.
The Entrepreneurship Innovation Center had set up stalls in the cafeteria at the entrance with cupcakes, brownies, juices, fun games, handmade goodies, and much more. Goofy faces, quirky gestures, traditional attire, and the ethnic day backdrop against the whole world created memories that last a lifetime.
he final segment was the DJ, and it exceeded all expectations! The dance floor was energetic as everyone moved and grooved to electrifying beats worldwide. The music brought everyone together, making it the perfect way to end such a joyous day.
As the day ended, a wave of sadness kicked in. It was my last Ethnic Day, and while it was the best one yet, I could not help but wonder what surprises KJC has in store for my juniors. One thing is sure: they will have just as much to cherish.
The final picture was clicked, and instead of saying "cheese," we proudly shouted, "KJC!" It was all about diversity and unity, celebration and sadness, colorful yet monochrome, and traditions with cultures.
Now for the anecdote of the day, FE! N.
Here is to be grateful to everyone who made Ethnic Day a grand success and to everyone who made it special for you!
