“Jai Hind” is an annual fest organised by the Department of Commerce (UG), Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), during the odd semester of every academic year. More than just a celebration, the fest embodies the spirit of India’s Independence Day. It serves as a platform for students to express patriotism and pay tribute to the nation’s heroes through diverse cultural and artistic forms.
The 2025 edition of Jai Hind featured a vibrant line-up of events, including elocution, dance, music, fashion walk, face painting, and photography. With the theme “Youth of India: Be the Change You Want”, the celebrations were held from August 11th to August 18th, 2025.
This year, I had the opportunity to participate in two events—Desh Bhakthi Bhashan (Elocution) and Group Singing. For the elocution contest, I chose to deliver my speech in Malayalam, my mother tongue, despite having little prior experience handling speeches in the language. For group singing, I contributed as a keyboardist, performing alongside a guitarist and vocalists—again, a completely new experience. Both events came with challenges, but I gave my best, and the effort was worth it.
Our team was thrilled to win first place in Group Singing, and receiving the award from Major P. Saravana Naidu, the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony, was an unforgettable moment. Adding to the joy, my class secured the overall runner-up title at the fest, making the collective victory even more meaningful.
For me, Jai Hind 2025 was not only about competing and winning—it was about growth, courage, and creating cherished memories. The fest helped me overcome stage fright, discover new skills, and experience the joy of teamwork. More than anything, it gave me moments of happiness amidst the rigours of academic life, which makes Jai Hind truly special.
