Over the last few years, the world has witnessed a sea change in people's lifestyles. Post-pandemic, people have become more conscious of healthy food and lifestyle and are switching to healthier diets and general well-being. As the world looks for new choices in healthy and sustainable food, millet, and Organics, the traditional food grown and consumed over the ages is fast emerging as the preferred diet. Karnataka has been a frontrunner in promoting organics and millets nationally and globally. The government hosted several fruitful events as part of its Millets for a Sustainable Future campaign.

A pre-event for the 6th International Millet Trade Fair was held at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, drawing attention to the significant role of millets in sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. Kristu Jayanti College's Department of Life Sciences and the Karnataka government's Department of Agriculture collaborated to host the event, which drew together students, faculty, and professionals in agriculture. Products made from millet were displayed, and attendees could hear about these items' health advantages and commercial possibilities. Students competed in various events, such as Millet-MasterChef, elocution, quiz, and selling packaged millet products, to demonstrate their creative millet business concepts. Poet and social worker Shashi Raj, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, Dr. GT Putra, presided over the opening ceremony. Their insights and advice enriched the discussions and emphasized the importance of millet farming. The function of millets in environmentally responsible agriculture and business was the subject of a panel discussion that was part of the event. According to experts, Millets can improve rural livelihoods, increase food security, and help make the world better. Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine George, our beloved Principal, emphasized the value of millet and the college's commitment to promoting sustainable practices and student empowerment through meaningful programs. After the event, we had a concise but profound vision for a healthy and sustainable future, thanks to the wealth of information and experience we had gained.
