Let's work together to end world hunger

“Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have.” (Winston Churchill)

Our health is significantly influenced by our capability to choose nutritious meals, which can either minimize or raise our risk of developing diseases. Nowadays, individuals consume a lot of calorie-rich foods as well as diet items that have been inspired by social media. They both have health problems of their own that will be harmful to a person's health. World Food Day is celebrated every year on October 16 and this year the theme for World Food Day is ‘Leave NO ONE behind’. This particular day has been intended to raise global awareness of the value of healthier dietary and active lifestyles. To maintain a well-being lifestyle, it is crucial to eat the right things at the right time. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations organises World Food Day. Food insufficiency and food hygiene have been severely impacted by unfortunate calamities, wars, and pandemics this year.

On a yearly basis, a significant number of events are planned in over 150 nations throughout the world to commemorate World Food Day, according to the official website of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Training sessions, hunger rallies, galleries, performances by different cultures, competitions, musicals, and more are just a few examples of these activities. Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru in association with Jayantian Extension Service Centre for Social Activities organised ‘Food Waste Management Campaign as part of World Food Day. In order to raise awareness among the public about leading a stable and healthy life in society, they also offered a food donation programme from the 16th to the 22nd of October, 2022.

Providing food to the needy is the kindest and most compassionate way to show humanitarian efforts to others. We shouldn't view poverty as a mere means of charity instead make sure people around us are not losing their lives because of hunger. This project by Kristu Jayanti College serves as a great motivation to step up and assist the country, especially those who lack access to healthy nutrition. Let’s work together and hold hands to end world hunger.
