It was in the Chavara square that I found my place of comfort. Amidst the unpredictable weather that Bangalore loves to surprise me with, it’s this place that I always go to. During the scorching sunny days, I am swept off my feet by the breeze here. In the rainy seasons, I stand under the greenery patch and allow the drops to soak my hair and clothes. The moment was magical. Almost like I am in one of those fairy tales that I loved as a child. It’s all perfect, with all my green friends dancing around me and the sweet air that leaves behind a tingling feeling every time.
Kristu Jayanti is a beautiful campus with lush greenery that treats all eyes that fall on it. I love walking around, watching students sitting under a tree, finding teachers having a cup of coffee in the park, or falling in love with the colourful buildings and the flowery plants painting their entrances. Everything is just a block away – food courts, juice shops, and libraries. When we are not stuck up in a classroom, my friends and I go in circles until we cover all these places. However, it’s the Chavara square where we stop to feel some magic. Running to a class when we are late doesn’t stop us from taking a moment and letting all that cool breeze sweep back our hair. We close our eyes and feel it wrapping itself around our bodies and cradling us in its arms for a minute. We curse at the watch before running back to the class. With all that regret, we wait for hours to pass so that we can go feel that magic one more time before going home.
Chavara square will always have a special place in my heart. Its magic shall touch and fascinate others as much as I felt. I see many students sitting there, I bet all of them are as touched as me. I see many lying on the prickly grass, I guess they enjoy it. So after all, it is a place of magic, a child’s fairy tale.
