The YAAN 2025 Food Fest, organized by the Department of Commerce (UG), Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, was a vibrant celebration of India’s diverse culinary heritage. Among the enthusiastic participants were Lakshitha Babu (24COMD38), who represented Tamil Nadu, and Anu Y (24COMD09), who represented West Bengal, who showcased their culinary skills and cultural pride through their food preparations.
Lakshitha Babu presented Donne Chicken Biryani, a popular South Indian delicacy, meticulously prepared using a recipe perfected with the help of her mother. Priced at ₹60 per plate, the dish attracted many customers, resulting in an additional earning of ₹1,086 from an initial investment of ₹1,500. Her teammate, Anu Y, brought the flavours of West Bengal to the festival with chicken and vegetable momos, investing ₹500 and an additional earning of ₹400 from her sales.
Adding to the cultural vibrance, both participants dressed in traditional attire that complemented their chosen themes, enhancing the authenticity of their stall. The experience proved enriching, fostering valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, teamwork, and cultural representation.
As first-year participants, Lakshitha and Anu look forward to refining their skills and returning with even greater enthusiasm and creativity in the coming years. YAAN 2025 was not just a food fest but a platform for students to explore their entrepreneurial spirit while celebrating the diverse flavours of India.
