Even now, I can vividly recall entering the expansive and verdant campus... On that particular occasion, I attended Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) as a typical student who had recently moved away from her family to start a new phase of her life. As I stand in the exact location that has now evolved into Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), I have a profound understanding of what it is like to transform. Just as the College has transitioned into a University, I, too, have journeyed from being an obscure student to serving as the Student Secretary of the Writers' Association. This moment feels truly surreal.
This marked the beginning of my writing adventure. Everything began in classroom M006 of the Main block, during my Additional English class. My Professor had finished the lessons ahead of schedule, and with only a few minutes remaining before the bell rang, she requested that we write a poem on whatever subject occurred to us on the spot. I, too, penned one that was titled "Nirvana." Although I had previously written poetry, this one felt distinctly different. This event marked the beginning of my writing path. The following day, during the session, our instructor displayed our poetry for everyone in the classroom. Each of us read our work, one by one. When it was my turn, I went up to the stage and read the poetry that I had written. It surprised me when my classmates expressed their appreciation, stating that my words conveyed a profound level of feeling. In addition to encouraging me to write more, my Professor suggested that I compile my writing into a collection and consider publishing it. The motivation that was provided became the spark.
That was when my passion for the English language grew even stronger, despite my long-standing affection for the language. Poetry was the medium through which I began to express my feelings, weaving words that hid the truth of my feelings and the things that I yearned to convey to the world. Through writing, I better understood who I am, and this realisation sparked the remainder of my journey.
I am the Student Secretary of the Writers' Association at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University). This humble beginning has gotten me one step closer to my current position. I still get the impression that those days in the past are a dream, and I do not want to wake up from it. I am aware of the significance of the Writers' Association badge that I wear today because I am aware of its weight.
There is no need to strive for perfection. Putting oneself out there is the focus here... It is not about being superior to other people... The key is to be present for every person... First and foremost, it is about having a passion for words.
