Staying updated with what’s happening around us is something we often take for granted, especially when we’re caught up with academics, assignments, and everyday college life. But on 5th April 2025, our Current Affairs class at Kristu Jayanti College gave us a much-needed opportunity to pause, explore, and reflect on the world through headlines — and I’m glad I got to be a part of it in a significant way.
A Well-Rounded Session with Real-World Relevance:
Our class was divided into a team of 9 members, and each took on a specific news category. The categories ranged from International News, National and Political News, Economic & Business News, Environmental Developments, Entertainment & Sports, Interesting Facts, and A Business Quiz to wrap it up. This structure made the session incredibly engaging, and every topic brought a different lens to how the world is moving today.
My Role: Team Leader + Business Segment:
I had the privilege of leading our team and was also responsible for presenting the Business News and conducting the Business Quiz.
The business world is something I’m genuinely passionate about, so researching and curating this section didn’t feel like a task—it felt exciting. Here are some of the highlights I presented:
Indian startups raised $3.1 billion in Q1 2025, a 41% jump compared to last year. It was great to see the ecosystem bounce back after a quiet period.
Meesho raised $550 million, with backing from prominent investors like Tiger Global and Peak XV. Interestingly, this platform redefines e-commerce for India’s small towns.
Microsoft announced a $3 billion investment in India’s AI infrastructure and plans to train 10 million people by 2030 — a massive step for our digital future.
And a significant shift — Delhi-NCR surpassed Bengaluru in total startup funding this quarter, which surprised quite a few of us.
After that, I conducted a Business Quiz, a fun and competitive segment. It wasn’t just about getting the answers right; it sparked conversations and made us think beyond the slides.
Take Away:
More than anything, this session reminded me how important awareness is. It’s easy to scroll through headlines, but digging into what’s going on—why it matters who it affects—opens up your mind in new ways.
Leading the team also taught me much about coordination, collaboration, and the small details that make a presentation impactful. I’m grateful for the teamwork and the enthusiasm everyone brought in. We weren’t just presenting news—we were learning from each other.
Final Thoughts:
The Current Affairs session was a refreshing change of pace. It helped us connect classroom learning to the outside world and showed how knowledge and awareness go hand in hand. I walked away from this session as better informed, confident, curious, and driven. Looking forward to many more such experiences that help us grow as students and future professionals.
