Why getting educated is an interesting question to be asked. We may get the answer, such as to get a job, to comfort ourselves, etc. Beyond this, how many would say that it's to serve society? But it's the core of education; becoming an educated and responsible individual will serve their parents better; upon fetching a job, one will serve their organisation at their best. An educated generation will contribute to the GDP and serve the nation by earning well. Service is not only meant for politicians and bureaucrats; each individual serves various subcomponents of society in different ways.
Today, we talk about sustainable development and holistic education. While we understand the concept of holistic education, we may realise that education is to serve society. The income we receive through the service is the byproduct of the service output, but the income itself is not the education output.
Holistic education is not only about preparing students for examinations; it focuses on the whole person's development by emphasising lifelong learning, critical thinking, empathy, and self-awareness. In this manner, holistic education fosters individuals with greater generosity, kindness, and capability. These individuals will be able to make rational decisions in a heartfelt manner.
