It was a day every Jayantian looked forward to. After much waiting, on November 9th, 2024, every square foot of our lush green campus was filled with cultural mosaics. It felt like a little world inside a much larger one.
Our country ‘ India' roots lie in its affluent culture. The cultural procession from our Main Block to the Turf was a strong start to the day. Dance forms such as ‘Dollu Kunitha', a prominent folk dance from Karnataka, 'Odissi' from Odisha, and ‘ Dappankuthu' from Tamil Nadu were showcased. The procession also comprised students from various states such as Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, West Bengal, Telangana, Punjab, Kerala, and many more, each with its own uniqueness. Kerala's traditional drumbeat, 'Chenda Melam,' was a showstopper; it had every student grooving to its high-powered beats—a fitting end to the marvelous procession.
After that, our revered Father, Principal Augustine George, faced the sea of colors and declared ‘ Ethnic Day 2024' open. Undoubtedly, each of the students and staff was easy on the eyes.
The following two hours were filled with music and pinnacles of enthusiasm from each of the cultural groups performing on stage. It was a glorious sight to watch the cultural affinity the students showed each other.
When the DJ Band [ Bro House] set foot on stage, every Jayantian in the Turf, Quadrangle, and Humanities Block wore their dancing shoes and danced through the fabulous day.
Certainly, ‘ Ethnic Day ’ at Kristu Jayanti College is one hefty story to experience, remember, and carry forward in each Jayantian’s heart and mind.
