“Values hold a pivotal role in University education, as how grammar functions in a language, and brings refinement in civilization with other basic components of education”, said Prof. M.S. Ananth, Director, IIT- Chennai. He was addressing the students at Kristu Jayanti College, in connection with an interactive program “Vichaarmanthan”. It is an interactive series that enable students to congregate with global and Indian visionaries.
Prof. M.S. Ananth delivered on the topic” Changing Paradigms in Higher education”, and touched various paradigms on education, starting from the ‘Gurukula System’, where education was exclusive to the powerful ,to the recent “ Information Revolution”, where education is opened to all, with a powerless mass to control the process. Furthermore, he also emphasized the “facilitator role” of a teacher in designing a learning environment, as now things are not taught in classroom. Besides these, he stressed the importance of repetitions in discourses, relevance of examples from the immediate environment, and the significance of documentation in education.
