Workshop on Time Management

The Department of Professional Management Studies, in collaboration with Deccan Herald successfully organized a workshop on ‘Time Management’ on 13 February 2025 to First year students. The session were held at A2 Auditorium in Admin block starting from 10 AM to 11.50 AM., The workshop aimed at bringing an effective time management system among the students and make them to understand the need of time. The objective of the workshop was to equip participants with essential time management skills to enhance productivity, reduce stress, and improve overall efficiency in their daily lives. The session focused on prioritization techniques, effective scheduling, goal setting, and overcoming procrastination. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many found the strategies highly applicable to their daily lives and appreciated the practical exercises. Some attendees expressed interest in additional sessions that could cover advanced time management tools and productivity hacks.

The Department of Professional Management Studies, in collaboration with Deccan Herald, successfully organized a Workshop on Stress Management on 10 February 2025. The session was conducted for second-year BBA students, focusing on equipping them with effective strategies to manage stress and enhance overall well-being.
Dr. Mallikarjuna K. H, a renowned expert in productivity and wellness, led the session, emphasizing the impact of stress on mental and physical health. He provided valuable insights into stress triggers, coping mechanisms, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness practices to maintain a balanced lifestyle. The session was interactive, with practical exercises that helped students identify their stressors and implement techniques to manage them effectively. Topics such as time management, emotional resilience, and healthy lifestyle habits were also discussed, offering students a comprehensive approach to stress reduction.
“National Startup Day Commemoration 2025”

The Department of Professional Management Studies (PMS), in association with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of KJC, successfully commemorated National Startup Day on January 16th, 2025. The event, meticulously organized by Dr. Jagdeep Singh of the PMS department, aimed to inspire and educate students on the entrepreneurial journey, highlighting both the potential rewards and inherent challenges of starting a business. The program served as a platform to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution. The day's program featured two distinguished speakers who shared their invaluable insights and experiences. Mr. Anup Gopakumar, a seasoned professional with a rich background in HR leadership at prominent IT companies, offered a unique perspective on the transition from corporate life to entrepreneurship. His address likely focused on leveraging corporate skills and knowledge to build a successful startup, drawing from his own journey of transitioning from part-time to full-time business ownership. His insights provided practical advice and encouragement for students considering a similar path. Complementing Mr. Gopakumar's perspective, Mr. Robin Rayappa provided further illumination on the startup ecosystem. His contribution likely offered a balanced view, acknowledging the difficulties alongside the opportunities.
EmpowerEdge: Expert Talk on Business Professionalism

The Department of Professional Management Studies successfully organized an engaging and insightful session under the Empower Edge initiative. This expert talk, led by the dynamic Prof. Bijin Philip, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, focused on crucial aspects of Business professionalism.
The session covered essential topics such as: Resume Building – Crafting resumes that stand out in competitive job markets. Job Applications Through LinkedIn – Effectively leveraging LinkedIn as a professional networking platform for career growth. Business Professionalism Insights into cultivating a professional mindset and demeanour in the corporate world.
The session emphasized the importance of creating impactful resumes tailored to specific job roles. Experts highlighted how resumes serve as the first point of contact between candidates and potential employers, often determining whether a candidate progresses to the interview stage. Key aspects discussed included structuring resumes to highlight relevant skills, achievements, and experience. Participants learned techniques for showcasing measurable accomplishments using quantifiable data, thereby making their profiles more compelling. The importance of customizing resumes to align with the job description and incorporating industry-specific keywords to pass applicant tracking systems (ATS) was also stressed. Recognizing LinkedIn as a powerful tool for career development, the session provided participants with strategies to leverage the platform effectively. Attendees were guided on optimizing their LinkedIn profiles to enhance visibility among recruiters and industry professionals. The session underscored the significance of maintaining an updated profile with a professional headshot, a concise yet engaging summary, and well-documented work experience. Attendees were also encouraged to engage with the LinkedIn community by sharing insightful content, participating in discussions, and building meaningful connections. Additionally, tips on using LinkedIn’s job application features and leveraging its networking opportunities to explore hidden job markets were shared. Business professionalism was highlighted as a cornerstone of career success. The session offered insights into adopting a professional attitude and demeanour, both in person and online. Discussions covered topics such as effective communication, time management, and ethical decision-making in the workplace. Attendees were encouraged to develop emotional intelligence to navigate workplace dynamics and build stronger relationships with colleagues and clients. Furthermore, the importance of dressing appropriately, maintaining punctuality, and demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving was emphasized.
The core purpose of the session is to equip the students for the placement and to address new challenges in the competitive world. This program conducted as a pre-placement talk experience and ensured that students are engaged and benefited. This impactful session aimed to equip 2nd-year Professional Management students with the tools and knowledge to excel in their professional journeys.
Guest Lecture on Hands- on Training on Essentials of Digital Statutory E- Filings NSQF Level 4.5

The Department of Professional Management Studies, in collaboration with Nergy India Ernakulam, successfully organized the NSQF training for the final year students from 6th January to 10th January 2025. The classes were held at A2 Auditorium in Admin block starting from 8 AM to 11.50 AM., The training session on filing tax returns was conducted with the aim of equipping participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for accurate and compliant tax return filing. The session began with an introduction to the various types of tax returns, their significance, and the step-by-step filing process. Students were provided with a clear understanding of the legal framework surrounding tax returns, emphasizing the importance of compliance with tax laws and the potential consequences of non-compliance.
A significant portion of the training focused on minimizing errors in tax filing. Students learned about the common mistakes that occur during the tax return preparation process, such as incorrect form completion, miscalculation of taxes, and failure to upload necessary documents. The session provided valuable insights into how to identify, rectify, and avoid these errors, ensuring that the tax returns submitted were accurate and error-free. Hands on experience and live demo of filing the return imparted a deep and practical knowledge in the domain
Conclusion: The training also covered the crucial aspect of meeting tax deadlines and understanding penalties for late filings. Participants were briefed on the importance of adhering to deadlines to avoid fines and legal complications. Additionally, an assessment will be conducted to test the level of knowledge of students and issue certificates to the students.
Expert Talk on Risk and Reward Job Security Vs Personal Risk in the Tourism Industry

As part of the industry understanding Tourism and Hospitality section from the department conducted expert talk on risk and job security in tourism industry, Mr. Panduranga G (Deputy General Manager sales Thomas Cook India), Bengaluru was the resource person of the day. The expert talk focused on job security in the market, how people can be successful in area with the support of upskilling the person. The talk began with the brief introduction of Indian tourism and skill requirement in the industry.
Expert Talk cum Hands-on Training on "Python Programming"

The Department of Professional Management Studies, under the LEADS initiative, hosted an Expert Talk cum Hands-on Training on "Python Programming," led by Mr. Pankaj Choudhary on 19/10/2024. This interactive workshop provided participants with a practical introduction to Python 3.11, emphasizing its latest features, such as enhanced performance and improved error messaging. Throughout the session, students delved into core programming concepts, including syntax, data types, control structures, and functions, while exploring Python's built-in help tools like help(), dir(), and __doc__ to navigate function and object documentation effectively.
Through hands-on coding exercises, participants gained foundational skills in Python programming, including debugging techniques and understanding the distinct properties of lists and tuples. The engaging, practical approach helped students build confidence in basic programming, equipping them with essential skills and preparing them for more advanced Python applications. Overall, the workshop served as a comprehensive and empowering introduction to Python, leaving students well-prepared to further their programming knowledge.
Webinar on Cervical Cancer Screening

The Department of Professional Management Studies organized "Webinar on Cervical Cancer Screening", where an insightful expert talk on cervical cancer awareness in collaboration with “Ovum Woman and Child Speciality Hospital” was delivered. This event was held on 19th October 2024 at 3 pm in the Zoom meeting. The speaker for this session was Dr M Vijaya Bharathi, MBBS,MS, Consultant- Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Dr. Bharathi shared her expert knowledge on the importance of Pap smears, HPV testing, and how early detection can significantly reduce cervical cancer-related mortality. She further highlighted the significance of education and discipline in maintaining one’s health and encouraged women to be proactive in managing their cervical health.
The session also included a detailed discussion on risk factors, preventive measures, and the availability of vaccinations for HPV, which has been instrumental in lowering cervical cancer cases. She encouraged participants to engage openly with healthcare professionals and prioritize preventive care. The event concluded with a lively Q & A session, where Dr. Bharathi addressed queries from the audience regarding cervical screenings, vaccinations, and overall reproductive health
“Let’s Talk Let’s Heal” Commemorating World Mental Health Day

The Department of Professional Management studies organized “Let’s Talk Let’s Heal” Commemorating World Mental Health Day, an Expert talk series on “Peer Influence and Socialisation with Mental Health and Well Being”. The event was held on 10th October 2024 in the Conference Hall by 11 am in the first floor of Administrative Block. The Speaker of this session was Ms. Ramona M, an alumnus of the college from 2014-2017 batch and a Counselling Psychologist. The beneficiaries of the programme are I year BBA Retail Management and International Business Students.
Ms. Ramona emphasized on the importance of mental health which is on par to physical health. She addressed the key factors which influence the mental wellbeing with depiction of her own personal experiences that captured the audience attention. Progressing further in the session she provided a comprehensive overview of effective strategies for coping with stress, anxiety, and feelings of depression. Forging ahead she shed light on the support extended by the health organizations for individuals battling depression and anxiety. She dynamically engaged the students with relaxation activity and activity to comprehend the Circle of control. Finally, she invited questions from the audience.

Over the course of three days—February 3, 2024, February 17, 2024, and February 24, 2024—Dr. Geetanjali Patel, a distinguished Learning and Development Consultant from a leading EdTech company in Bangalore, conducted a comprehensive guest lecture series for the IV Business Analytics students of sections A and B. The series, titled "Cost and Investments in Human Resource Analytics," aimed to provide students with deep insights into the financial aspects of HR analytics. A total of 114 students benefited from Dr. Patel's extensive knowledge and experience. Throughout the sessions, students explored critical topics such as cost analysis, investment strategies in HR technologies, and methods for evaluating the ROI of HR analytics initiatives. This lecture series was an invaluable opportunity for students to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications, thereby enhancing their capability for data-driven decision-making in their future professional endeavors.
International Education Talk Series on Beyond Borders: Charting Pathways with International Education

The International Education Talk Series coordinated by Dr Sneha N on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M in Admin Block Conference Hall. The series was conducted for the final year BBA PMS students to make the students' vision clear for higher education opportunities outside India. The session started with the warm welcome of the guests to Ms Megha Malhotra and Ms Tanuj. Ms Megha Malhotra had briefed about the international Robert Gordon University located in Aberdeen, UK. She gave a glimpse of the city and the whole package provided by the university such as academics, co-curricular activities, part-time jobs, student council, gaming activities and so many other benefits. Ms Tanuj was the Senior Manager of ISDC she played a major role in helping the students to get an awareness for study abroad. They conducted a poll on the student interest to studying in the UK, US, Canada or other countries, also they questioned the purpose of going abroad based on education, job, travelling or for a break where students showed their interest in travelling. They circulated the feedback form to collect the personal details of the interested students at the end. There was also a Q&A session where they interacted with students by clearing their doubts. Students were happy to get the chance to interact with such gracious guests who have profound knowledge in the field of education. The session summed up well by giving the vote of thanks to our resource persons Ms Megha Malhotra and Ms Tanuj for putting in theirefforts to help students towards the right path in the journey of international education.
The session on Emotional Intelligence For Effective Leadership organised by the Department Of Professional Management Studies in association with Centre For Life Skills Education and the organizing faculty member Prof. John Pradeep, Dr. Sneha. N, Dr. Priya A. Presented by the respected resource person Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Kristu jayanti college, for the students of 1 BBA-AM ‘B’ started at 10.00hrs at classroom A-305 with a Welcome Address by Ms. Aksa Rachel Jacob, the class representative. The session by Dr. Kaur was greatly revered and was the perfect amalgamation of knowledge, values and interaction. The students got to know about the various characteristics of a leader, handling of situations and decision making through numerous case studies. The session came to an end with a Type of Leader Identification assessment test which proved to be very insightful for the students. The Vote Of Thanks was presented by the class representative Mr. Nongdam Loushambam.

This aspect helped deepen an understanding of the topic .
