Review on Library Resources with reference to Tourism Education
Date: 15 November 2024
The session on review on library resources concerning tourism education was conducted on 15th November 2024 from 11.00 am to 11.50 am to celebrate the theme of National Library Week. The library resources comprising of reference books, journals, travel magazines and articles related to tourism studies were referred by I semester students of BBA -Tourism and Hospitality Management students.

The session was conducted to impart knowledge and make students familiar with tourism and hospitality related study materials available in library. During the session each individual student not only made reference to library resources available in library but also reviewed, summarised and recorded an assignment on the same. The primary objective of the session was to familiarize participants with a wide range of academic, digital, and multimedia resources available in the library, specifically curated for tourism studies.

Conclusion: The session on reviewing library resources for tourism education, held as part of National Library Week, successfully introduced first-semester BBA Tourism and Hospitality Management students to a diverse array of study materials. By engaging with reference books, journals, travel magazines, and articles specific to tourism studies, students gained valuable exposure to the wealth of academic and digital resources available in the library. The hands-on approach, which included reviewing, summarizing, and recording assignments, ensured an active learning experience. The session achieved its primary objective of familiarizing participants with curated resources, fostering academic curiosity, and enhancing their ability to navigate and utilize the library's offerings effectively for their academic pursuits.


Literature Review Session on Academic Research Articles
Date: 14 November 2024
The session on literature review concerning academic research articles was conducted on 14th November 2024 from 2.30 pm to 3. 30 pm to celebrate the theme of National Library Week. The academic research articles references were predominantly related to business management and aviation industry related themes. The session was conducted for BBA Aviation Management Final Year students of A section to impart guidance and hands on experience to the participants to learn the process of structuring and writing a literature review. The review that not only summarizes the existing research but also critically discusses its relevance, strengths, and limitations in relation to their pre-determined research questions and research problems. Students got an opportunity to access and utilize digital resources available in library concerning their research problems and also learnt to cite eminent authors and researcher related to their field of knowledge.

Conclusion: The session on literature review, held as part of National Library Week, successfully achieved its objective of equipping final-year BBA Aviation Management students with essential skills for structuring and writing literature reviews. By focusing on academic research articles related to business management and the aviation industry, the session provided practical insights and hands-on experience in critically analyzing existing research. Students gained valuable exposure to utilizing digital library resources effectively and learned the importance of citing eminent authors in their respective fields. Overall, the session not only enhanced the participants' academic proficiency but also encouraged a deeper engagement with scholarly research, laying a strong foundation for their future endeavours in research and professional domains.


Professor of Practice “Recent Trends in Airline Marketing”
Date: 19 & 26 October, 04 Vovember 2024
The Department of Professional Management Studies organized External Lecture, an insightful lecture delivered by Mr. Panduranga G on "Recent Trends on Airline Marketing," on October 19th, October 16 & November 4th 2024. The sessions covered various aspects of the industry and the resource person discussed the extended market mix, emphasizing the importance of considering additional factors beyond the traditional 4Ps (product, price, promotion, and place). He also highlighted key marketing principles and their application in the airline industry.

The speaker explored new trends in the airline industry, including the rise of digital marketing, personalization, and experiential travel. He also discussed the growing demand for sustainable and responsible travel practices.


Professor of Practice (POP)
Date: 17 October 2024
On October 17, 2024, Mr. Abhishek Avala, Senior Product Training Specialist from Sabre Corporation, conducted a Professor of Practice (POP) session for BBA V semester Aviation Management students specializing in Logistics and Aviation Management. The session, held in Room A306 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, aimed to provide practical industry insights into the air cargo sector.

The session began with a comprehensive overview of the history of air cargo, tracing its development from early mail services to the highly efficient global logistics networks of today. Mr. Avala explained the significance of air cargo in facilitating global trade and its unique advantages over other forms of cargo transport. He then explained what air cargo is and discussed the different types of air cargo, such as general cargo, express shipments, and special cargo (including perishable goods and hazardous materials). Each type requires specific handling procedures and regulations, which were explained in detail.

The session also covered the critical role of warehousing in air cargo operations, highlighting how warehouses support logistics by managing storage, inventory, and delivery schedules. Mr. Avala emphasized the importance of warehousing efficiency in ensuring smooth and timely cargo flow.

Finally, Mr. Avala introduced the concept of unit load management, explaining how unit load devices (ULDs) are used to consolidate cargo for secure and efficient transport. He demonstrated how proper load management optimizes space and safety during air transport.


Workshop on Aviation and Airlines Operating System
Date: 07 & 08 October 2024
The Department of Professional Management Studies organized a two-day workshop addressing to the theme “Aviation and Airlines Operating System” for final-year BBA students specializing in Aviation and Tourism & Hospitality Management. The event held on October 7th and October 8th, 2024, aimed to provide practical exposure to Airline operating systems, equipping students with essential knowledge for their career.

The objective of the workshop was to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices. It focused on preparing students with the skills needed to manage aviation systems and processes, enhancing their readiness for the professional world.

The day 1 held at A2 Auditorium and was led by Mr. Abhishek Avala, Senior Product Training Specialist from Sabre Corporation, Bengaluru. The session introduced key aviation topics including Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Passenger Service Systems (PSS), Sabre, Customer Pricing Agreements (CPA), Passenger Name Records (PNR), and Departure Control Systems (DCS). These systems, critical for airline operations, were explained in detail, offering students insights into its functional aspects in real-world settings.

Day 2, session held in the Conference Hall, focused on Air Cargo Management, the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and the Load Management System. Mr. Avala emphasized how these tools are essential for cargo and flight operations, enhancing safety and efficiency. His practical approach enabled students to grasp complex industry processes easily.

Targeted at final-year Aviation Management and Tourism Management students, the workshop provided a valuable learning experience, deepening their understanding of critical aviation systems and preparing them for the demands of the industry. Overall, the event was highly successful, leaving students better equipped to enter the aviation and tourism sectors.

Conclusion: Students received an insight on Aviation and Airlines operating system and various functional aspects of aviation sector including the challenges encountered by global aviation industry.


Professor Of Practice

On October 19, 2024, Mr. Abhishek Avala, Senior Product Training Specialist from Sabre Corporation, conducted another Professor of Practice (POP) session for BBA Aviation Management final year students. The session was held in the A3 Auditorium from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and focused on air cargo documentation and the categorization of cargo types.

Mr. Avala began by explaining the essential documents required in air cargo transportation. He covered the airway bill, a crucial document that serves as a contract of carriage between the shipper and the airline. Additionally, he explained the importance of the commercial invoice, which details the transaction between the buyer and seller, and the packing list, which outlines the contents of the shipment. Another key document discussed was the certificate of origin, which verifies the country where the goods were produced, and is essential for customs clearance.

Moving on to the categories of cargo, Mr. Avala outlined the handling and transportation of various types of goods. He discussed perishable goods, which require temperature control, and special goods, such as live animals or medical supplies. He also mentioned valuable cargo, including jewelry and currency, and sentimental cargo, which often carries personal or emotional significance. The session also covered human organs for medical transport and dangerous goods, which require strict regulations due to their hazardous nature.

Additionally, Mr. Avala spoke about the prohibition of dry copra in air cargo due to safety concerns. He also provided detailed information about the transportation of infants, ensuring the students understood the specific regulations and care required in such cases.

The event achieved its objective of celebrating our rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and natural wonders. Participants from across the nation engaged enthusiastically, showcasing their knowledge and passion for tourism. "Reminisce 2024" fostered a sense of unity and pride as we collectively explored the diverse facets of our country. We extend our congratulations to the winners and express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to making "Reminisce 2024" a memorable and impactful celebration of National Tourism Day. Registrations for "Reminisce 2024," the National Level Online Quiz celebrating National Tourism Day, witnessed an overwhelming response, with enthusiastic participants hailing from diverse regions of our nation. Engaging minds from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Kerala, and Punjab, the event truly embodied the spirit of unity in diversity. The vibrant participation from these states contributed to the quiz's success, creating a dynamic and enriching experience for all involved. As we celebrate the cultural mosaic and tourist gems across the country, we extend our appreciation to the participants from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Kerala, and Punjab for their keen interest and active engagement in "Reminisce 2024."


International Education Talk Series on Beyond Borders: Charting Pathways with International Education

The International Education Talk Series coordinated by Dr Sneha N on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M in Admin Block Conference Hall. The series was conducted for the final year BBA PMS students to make the students' vision clear for higher education opportunities outside India. The session started with the warm welcome of the guests to Ms Megha Malhotra and Ms Tanuj. Ms Megha Malhotra had briefed about the international Robert Gordon University located in Aberdeen, UK. She gave a glimpse of the city and the whole package provided by the university such as academics, co-curricular activities, part-time jobs, student council, gaming activities and so many other benefits. Ms Tanuj was the Senior Manager of ISDC she played a major role in helping the students to get an awareness for study abroad. They conducted a poll on the student interest to studying in the UK, US, Canada or other countries, also they questioned the purpose of going abroad based on education, job, travelling or for a break where students showed their interest in travelling. They circulated the feedback form to collect the personal details of the interested students at the end. There was also a Q&A session where they interacted with students by clearing their doubts. Students were happy to get the chance to interact with such gracious guests who have profound knowledge in the field of education. The session summed up well by giving the vote of thanks to our resource persons Ms Megha Malhotra and Ms Tanuj for putting in theirefforts to help students towards the right path in the journey of international education.


Global Village World Tourism Day 2023
Global Village Galleria-an intra-collegiate exhibition, commemorating World Tourism Day 2023, is to promote cultural exchange, foster international understanding, and celebrate the rich diversity of global heritage. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Mohamed Farouk, Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bengaluru Office, and Fr. Jais V Thomas, Financial Administrator of Kristu Jayanti College. 20 teams showcased their knowledge and skills in the field of tourism by presenting various exhibits such as Pious Expedition - Sustainable Pilgrim Tour, Manipur Mélange, Northeast- A Cultural Kaleidoscope, Green Getaways, The Seven Sisters-India’s Best Kept Secrets, Uttarakhand: Where Adventure Awaits, Beauty of Himachal Pradesh, One State Many Worlds, Community Tourism and Green Investment, and The Golden Triangle and many more. The winners of the Best Stall Award received cash prizes and certificates. The First Prize was secured by the Seven Sisters-India’s Best Kept Secrets from I AM B, Second Prize-Green Transport from V AM B. Apart from these six consolation prizes also was given. Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bengaluru Office was the main sponsor of the event.


The session on Emotional Intelligence For Effective Leadership organised by the Department Of Professional Management Studies in association with Centre For Life Skills Education and the organizing faculty member Prof. John Pradeep, Dr. Sneha. N, Dr. Priya A. Presented by the respected resource person Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Kristu jayanti college, for the students of 1 BBA-AM ‘B’ started at 10.00hrs at classroom A-305 with a Welcome Address by Ms. Aksa Rachel Jacob, the class representative. The session by Dr. Kaur was greatly revered and was the perfect amalgamation of knowledge, values and interaction. The students got to know about the various characteristics of a leader, handling of situations and decision making through numerous case studies. The session came to an end with a Type of Leader Identification assessment test which proved to be very insightful for the students. The Vote Of Thanks was presented by the class representative Mr. Nongdam Loushambam.
