Faculty Enrichment Programme – Three-Day National Level Workshop on Research Methodology

The Department of English, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, successfully hosted a three-day National Level Faculty Enrichment Programme (FEP) on Research Methodology from 19th to 21st August 2025 via the Zoom platform. The workshop aimed to strengthen the research competencies of faculty members and research scholars by providing in-depth knowledge of modern research tools, techniques, and best practices.
The event commenced on 19th August 2025 with an inaugural address delivered by Fr. Dr. Lijo P. Thomas, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University. In his inspiring message, Fr. Dr. Lijo emphasized the importance of integrating innovation, critical thinking, and ethical practices in research to meet global academic standards.
The workshop featured distinguished resource persons from premier institutions across the country. Dr. Sathyaraj Venkatesan, Professor of English, NIT Trichy, delivered an insightful session on Research Writing: Tools, Techniques, and Tips, highlighting practical approaches to impactful scholarly writing. Dr. Priyanka Tripathi, Associate Professor, IIT Patna, conducted a comprehensive session on Fundamental Components of a Research Proposal, offering valuable guidance on structuring and presenting well-organized research ideas. On the concluding day, Dr. J. Shiny Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Madras Christian College, presented a forward-looking session on AI for Research Writing and Publishing, emphasizing the transformative role of artificial intelligence in academic research and publication.
The workshop recorded an overwhelming participation of 443 faculty members and research scholars from institutions across India, reflecting its national reach and relevance. Participants appreciated the interactive nature of the sessions, which provided actionable insights to refine their research methodologies and adapt to emerging trends in academic publishing.
The three-day programme reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and promoting professional growth in the field of research.
Faculty Enrichment Programme on Professional Ethics & Academic Integrity

The Department of English organized an insightful session on "Professional Ethics and Academic Integrity" at the H2 Auditorium in the Humanities Block on 4th July, 2025. The resource person, Fr. Jais V. Thomas, Financial Administrator and Director, Jayantian Extension Services, delivered a phenomenal and thought-provoking talk. Fr. Jais V. Thomas explored the concept of psychological safety, explaining its significance in academic and professional environments. He also addressed the myth surrounding psychological safety, clarifying that it does not imply the absence of accountability but rather the presence of trust and mutual respect. He further emphasized the relationship between psychological safety and accountability, as well as the etiquette and responsibilities that faculty members should uphold for their professional well-being and ethical development. Faculty members from the Department of English actively participated in the session, providing valuable insights and reinforcing the department's commitment to upholding academic integrity and professional standards.

The Department of English organised a Faculty Enrichment Programme on Research Methodology from August 28th to August 30th, 2024. The three-day national level workshop was inaugurated by Fr. Dr. Lijo P Thomas, CFO, Kristu Jayanti College. On the first session, Dr, Ujjwal Jana, Professor, Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Delhi University, enumerated the pathways towards research grants and criteria for preparing a good research proposal. Dr. R. Vijay Solomon, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Madras Christian College, Tambaram, Chennai, guided the participants to decode journal metrics, impact factor, H-index, and some significant online domains to understand the performance rate and value of Scopus indexing. Dr. Vasupradha Srikrishna, Communication area, IFMR GSB, Krea University, Andhra Pradesh, explained the right approach in selecting a good journal for publishing research work. The workshop had faculty participants across deaneries of Kristu Jayanti College and 153 participants various national institutes.
