A Tribute to Girish Karnad
The Department of English (PG) organized an exhibition titled A Tribute to Girish Karnad honouring the legacy of Padma Shri awardee Girish Karnad, on August 02, 2019. The purpose of this exhibition was to commemorate the veteran playwright, actor, director, and writer and to bring to mind his phenomenal contribution to literature. The exhibition was honoured by the presence of our Principal Rev. Fr. Josekutty P.D., Rev. Fr. Emmanuel P. J., Director of Kristu Jayanti College of Law and Dr. Gopakumar AV, Dean of Humanities. The exhibition encompassed of several visual representations which displayed Karnad’s famous plays, the movies in which he acted. His photos, videos and a bioscope showcased major events in Karnad’s life. The programme included the enactment of a modern adaptation of Girish Karnad’s play Nagamandala by the final year students.

The main attraction of the exhibition was the fact that most of the displays were made out of waste materials which were recycled as wooden props and this provided an insight into the usefulness of recycling. In addition, there was a display of the various awards he had received which were also made out of recycled materials.

Positive feedback was received from the dignitaries and other visitors from different departments. A few select quotes:
