Guest Lecture to “How to Pursue Your CA Dream”

The Chartered Accountancy qualification opens the door to a vast range of exciting career opportunities, in every sector of Business and Finance, both in India and internationally. Hence, in order to enlighten the students on the importance of the Chartered Accountancy course and the manner to pursue this dream, an expert lecture was organised, Mr. Georgy Mathew FCA, Senior Partner, Varma & Varma Chartered Accountants, Bengaluru was invited as the resource person.

The chief guest addressed the students on the importance of the course, and the professional examinations and encouraged them to begin their journey in the course. The talk started with an Interactive question ‘Why become a Chartered Accountant?’, and the majority felt that it was for Money and Power’. He also enquired with the students as to why CA exams were difficult to clear and the speaker shared his thoughts on the same.

He elaborated on how students can manage their time and highlighted that hard work was the key element to clearing CA exams and encouraged the students to not give up their dream and plan their time accordingly to become successful. The speaker also explained the differences between Articleship Training and Industrial Training.

The resource person concluded by highlighting that no other career offers the mobility that a Chartered Accountancy qualification does as they offer prospects in various fields such as Audit, Taxation, Consultancy services, etc. Encouraging the students to be goal oriented and never to give up, the session was insightful and motivational.


Guest Lecture on “Against all Odds”

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance successfully organized a guest lecture for the I B.Com ACCA students. Ms.Kauvya Ravichandran, CA, ACCA, Product Development Manager, North Star Academy, Bengaluru was the resource person.

To begin with, Ms.Kauvya Ravichandran gave an overview about the ACCA programme and the benefits of pursuing the course. She emphasized that ACCA qualifications one of the most prestigious courses. She also elaborated that ACCA designation is undoubtedly a symbol of excellence recognizable to employers around the world. She steered the students towards the path to ACCA Qualification through a presentation, by which the students could learn more about the Accounting profession, its benefits and its demand globally. The students also have gained essential knowledge concerning the ACCA exam schedule and were made aware of the integration of the ACCA programme with the B Com curriculum.

The programme culminated with a lively interactive session in which all the queries and doubts of the students’ regarding ACCA were effectively clarified. The session was informative and engaging.

Guest Lecture on Data Analytics: Strategic Decision Making

With the increasing intricacy and challenges in doing business, there is a necessity to get ourselves technically and professionally equipped through accumulating satisfactory proficiency while getting competent for CMA Course. In this regard, an expert lecture session was conducted for the students of IInd year BCOM CMA P7. The main objective of this session was to guide the students in heeding strategic decision-making in a company when the business territory and preferences are generally dynamic and share advice respecting correct decision-making with the allotted data or updated data.

The speaker for this session was: CA Siddhi Gaur from Miles Education.

The students responded very energetically and participated actively throughout the session. Before this session, all the students were requested to register themselves on the “Data Analytics Simulation” by “Harvard Business Publishing” to make the session more effective. The following topics were discussed:

  • Market demand and set production
  • Geographical demand
  • Channel price
  • Formulation decision
  • Strategic plan execution
  • Promotional budget for trade channel spend
  • Product features and positioning
  • Data explorer
  • Promotional spending decision
  • Clearing relevant queries

After conferring all the aspects of a strategic plan, an activity was administered in which all the students were instructed to attain an activity in which they have to generate the strategies for 4 years based on allotted data and observe the market share and operating profits incurred.
This session was ceased by the discussion of the random strategies executed among all and suggesting advice to enhance it.


Expert Lecture on “International Business Opportunities for Certified Management Accountants”

Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an expert lecture on “International Business Opportunities for Certified Management Accountants” on 25th August 2021 through Zoom, virtual platform. Mr. Nitish Kashyap, CMA, US and Founder of Manartha Solutions Private Limited addressed the virtual gathering of students.

Mr. Nitish Kashyap addressed the students about various career opportunities available for students after completing CMA. The speaker also stated the difference between financial accountants and management accountants. Mr. Nitish also highlighted the role and responsibilities of a CFO in an organization and enlightened the students about the career opportunities available for CMA as entrepreneurs’ .The speaker underlined the importance of freelancing and internships in enhancing the experience and making good industry networking. He laid emphasis on market research through TAM, SAM, SOM and Pestle analysis. The session also gave insights on the need for a meticulous preparation for CMA exams.


Guest Lecture on “Embarking on the Professional Journey”

With new beginnings and a fresh start, the students of BCom are all set to equip themselves with the knowledge and skill sets required in the industry, that will set them apart from the ordinary. In lieu of the same, the department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducts a guest lecture titled “Embarking on the Professional Journey”. The aim of the session was to orient the students on the significance of the professional courses and also explain the procedure of registration to the Professional bodies and the conduct of the coaching classes. The guest speaker Mr Irfat M shared useful information and gave tips to ace the exams.


Skill Development Orientation on "Prospects of ACCA Programme"

It is also known that employers across the globe seek out ACCA-trained professionals as they possess strategic thinking, technical skills and professional values to drive their organizations forward.

Embarking on this wonderful journey, the students were provided an interactive session on 8/9/2021 to assist them in taking up the professional exams. The speaker Ms.Vasumathi, Country Head, ISDC addressed the students. The interaction with the students brought forth several queries such as dates of ACCA exams, entry deadlines, dual session booking and amendment of the exams and the order of exam choice. The speaker shared information and gave clarifications on the conduct of exams, mode of paying fees, mode of exams, amending the exam entry and also the new app available that guides the students through the ACCA journey. The students found the session informative in designing their pathway through the ACCA journey.


Orientatioon ACCA Course and the Way Forward

This orientation was focused and created with a goal of empowering the first year ACCA students to strive towards their goals and also to give a clear focus to the students on the ACCA Course. Orientation mainly focused on ACCA qualification and its exam structure, Integration of ACCA curriculum in the graduation course, its structure and exemptions, ACCA registration documentation and exam entries, Details of fees and various awards from ACCA ,Details about the training for the non-exempted papers, Information about the study materials, PER and membership details.

This session was informative and the students were encouraged to write for clearing ACCA Exams.


Orientation On CMA Course
CMA ‘Certified Management Accountant’ is one of the highest management accounting credentials in the world administered by the IMA (Institute for Management Accountants). CMA’s curriculum uses some of the most advanced testing techniques to test management accounting aspirants. Lakhs of aspirants take US CMA exams every year to grow into Management Accountants, Finance analysts and many other roles. In this regard, an orientation session was held for the students of I B.COM P7 on 15.11.2021.

Ms. Alka Kothari, CA, CPA, Cost Accountant, Corporate Trainer, Finance & Accounting Professional addressed the students on the importance of the course, the examination pattern and also encouraged them to be positive and confident. She also emphasised on key subjects such as CMA certification, professional experience, structure of examinations and various sub-topics covered under the CMA course such as External Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Forecasting techniques, Regression analysis, Costing, Corporate Finance, Risk management and Professional ethics.

The resource person concluded by highlighting the importance of the US CMA Designation that offers great value and provides a wide range of career avenues including international recognition, global qualification, in-depth knowledge about Management Accounting, Finance and Business Economics required for the corporate world.


Orientation on CMA Exams
Date: 06 December 2021
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an orientation on “CMA Examinations” on 6th December 2021 from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm at Auditorium 1, Admin Block. Ms. Rhea Mariam Zenu, CMA, Trainer, Miles Education addressed the students.

The orientation was organized to help CMA aspirants’ understand the pattern of examination paper and also to provide the students tips for preparing for CMA exams. Ms.Rhea highlighted that CMA exams were meant to test the application knowledge of the students and rote learning was not advisable. The students were informed to attempt all the questions and not to leave any questions unanswered. The resource person also pointed out the importance of time management and to manage time by allocating time for multiple choice questions and essay questions appropriately. The relevance of mock exams were highlighted by the resource person. The students were also reminded about the mentoring opportunities provided by Miles Education.

The session concluded with an open discussion with the students wherein the resource person clarified their queries with regard to exams. The orientation programme helped the students to understand the need of meticulous preparation for CMA exam.
