Its main objective is to foster alumni engagement with their alma mater and provide a platform for sharing valuable experiences. Alumni mentors share their professional and personal expertise, helping students prepare for exams and navigate challenges.

Mentors offer meaningful guidance on exam preparation strategies and provide career and personal development advice. Their insights on managing change and overcoming difficulties have a profound impact. Mentors are encouraged to regularly connect with mentees through calls, meetings, or email, based on individual needs and preferences.

Sculpt your success journey

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized an Alumni Talk titled "sculpt your success journey for the I and II year ACCA students, held on March 2, 2024. This event aimed to equip students with real-life insights, motivation, networking opportunities, exam tips, and personalized guidance which are essential for their ACCA exam preparation. The speaker Ms Hanna Rajan, Advanced Audit Associate at Ernst and Young and Alumni shared her personal experience of her journey to ACCA and motivated the students to work hard and persevere.

The talk aimed at inspiring students to conquer their academic challenges head-on, the speaker ignited a fiery passion within the audience to approach upcoming exams with confidence and determination. Emphasizing the power of belief in oneself, the speaker underscored that success in examinations is not solely determined by innate intelligence but by disciplined effort and a resilient mindset. Through compelling anecdotes and personal experiences, they elucidated the transformative potential of hard work and perseverance, instilling a sense of purpose and motivation in each listener. Encouraging students to set ambitious goals and break them down into manageable tasks, the speaker painted a vivid picture of the rewards awaiting those who clear their ACCA exams. The session was interacting and thought provoking.


Strategies to clear CA examinations in one go”

Alumni have always had a tremendous impact on the students’ career success. The Alumni Mentoring Programme provides a space to increase connections where personalized guidance, referrals to professional opportunities, and meaningful career conversations takes place based on shared interests and affiliations. Hence, the Department of Professional Accounting & Finance had organised an alumni mentoring session on “Strategies to clear CA examinations in one go!” for the II Semester Professional students. The resource person was Ms. Vemula Syamisree, Article Trainee, DJHS & Associates (Accolet Advisors Private Ltd.) Bangalore.

The CA journey is challenging, requiring many study sessions, numerous tests and has intense competition. The resource person guided the CA aspirants by sharing her experience while preparing for the examination. Ms. Vemula also facilitated the students by providing the right guidance and support the looked for in the initial years of their CA Journey. The session was interactive and beneficial to all the students.


“Alumni Talk on Focus on ACCA Exams
Date: 02 November 2023
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized the Alumni Talk on- Focus on ACCA Exams for Second year ACCA students on 02 November 2023. The resource person for the day was Mr Ankith Mathew. He had backed the 7th Global Rank in Advanced Financial Management. Mr. Ankith centered his sessions around educating students on preparing for various ACCA papers and emphasized the crucial aspect of time management, drawing insights from his own personal journey.

The session was mainly emphasised on diverse resources to prepare for the papers, the need to practice on consolidation questions and applying IFRS for SBR and AAA papers. The resource person suggested and guided useful resources to the students preparing for the December ACCA exam. The importance of study text and practical application knowledge was also communicated.

Outcome: The session ended with various interesting questions by the students. It was a fruitful and interactive session.


Alumni Meet
Date: 29 October 2023
The Department of Professional Accounting & Finance conducted an Alumni Meet on 29th Oct 2023 from 4:30 onwards in 5th floor, PG Block. The main aim of the Alumni Meet is to provide a good and strong bridge for the students, faculty and the institute for mutual benefit and synergy. The event began with registration and a warm welcome by the organizing committee.

The welcome address was delivered by the Head of the Department, Dr. Annie Stephen. The event also featured a cultural program, with performances by students and alumni and lot of games. Alumni had the opportunity to network and catch up with former classmates, teachers, and staff during designated sessions. The event featured cultural performances by current students and alumni. The performances included music, dance, and drama. Alumni were informed about ongoing and future fundraising initiatives to support the institution's development and scholarships for current students.

The alumni were very happy to be back on campus and to meet their old friends and classmates. Overall, the alumni meet was a great success. It was a great opportunity for alumni to reconnect and to celebrate their shared experiences.


Alumni Talk on Ace ACCA exams

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti College, organized an enlightening Alumni Talk on October 14, 2023. This event, specifically tailored for ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) aspirants, aimed to provide valuable insights and inspiration for students looking to embark on a successful accounting and finance career. The event was held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and featured a distinguished speaker, Ms. Remi Ann Mathew, an accomplished alumnus of our department.

Ms. Remi Mathew began her presentation by sharing her personal journey from being an ACCA aspirant to becoming a seasoned professional. She discussed the challenges she faced and the strategies she employed to overcome them. This resonated with the audience, as many of them are currently on a similar path. The speaker provided valuable insights into the career opportunities available to ACCA graduates.

The event provided a platform for students to network with their peers and engage in meaningful conversations with Ms.Remi Mathew. This networking opportunity was invaluable for students looking to build connections within the accounting and finance community.

The event not only inspired ACCA aspirants but also emphasized the department's commitment to nurturing the career aspirations of its students.


Alumni Mentoring

Alumni can build business connections, organize reunions, and serve as shining examples of the kind of people that their institution produces. The students connect well with their alma matter and learn from them.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized the Alumni Mentoring- Expand your Horizons with ACCA for Final year BCom ACCA students on the 16th August 2023. Ms Sharanya I, an alumni of 2020 batch ; she had bagged 3rd Global Rank in Audit and Assurance paper. The main essence of her talk was to throw light completing ACCA papers and time management.

The session mainly emphasised on the diverse resources required to prepare for the ACCA papers, the need to practice on consolidation questions and applying IFRS for SBR and AAA papers. The speaker suggested few useful resources to the students preparing for the ACCA exam. The importance of study text and practical application knowledge was also communicated.

The session ended with various interesting questions by the students. Later the ACCA resource links were also circulated among the class groups. It was a fruitful and interactive session.

Alumni Batch Interaction
Date: 15 October 2022
The alumni meet are organized to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. A virtual alumni meet was organized for the BCom Professional Batch 2019-2022 through zoom platform by the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance on 15th October 2022 at 6 pm. The virtual gathering was welcomed and addressed by Dr.Reenu Mohan, Assistant Professor. The alumnis were informed about the campus updates and departmental activities. Dr.Kiran Kumar expressed his opinion on the importance of organizing the alumni meets. Dr.Annie Stephen , Cordinator of department, emphasized on the role alumni in strengthening the department and stressed on building of strong bonding between juniors and the seniors for overall growth of the department.Virtual games were played with active participation of all alumnis. Few alumnis shared their experiences as student in the department. The alumnis were happy to reconnect with their classmates and faculties. After the interaction with students, they volunteered themselves to help the fellow students regarding Internships, Placements, Guest Lectures & Workshops.


Alumni Interaction

A virtual Alumni meet of class ACCA, batch 2019-2022 was organized through zoom platform on 15th October 2022 at 7 pm. The alumni’s were excited to be reunited with their teachers and friends. Campus updates and departmental activities were informed to the Alumni’s by the teachers. Virtual games were played with active participation of all alumni’s. They shared about their work life at corporate. Some shared the thoughts on lessons learnt at college which has been helped them while performing their jobs. They also expressed their desire to return to the campus as Guest Speakers. The session was interactive and the alumni’s had something to cherish.


Alumni Interaction
Date: 01-10-2022
The Department of Professional Accounting & Finance organized an alumni interaction with Ms. Sneha Sebastian, of 2017-2020 batch. She is also an ACCA affiliate and currently part of the FP and A domain in Accenture as a Finance Analyst.

The interaction was held on the 1st October 2022 at the A2 Auditorium from 11:00 am onwards and was organized for the 1st Year B. Com ACCA students. ACCA is the leading professional accounting body in the world. The fact that ACCA’s exams are not easy, and are challenging is what gives the qualification its prestige. Clearing ACCA exams requires one to have perseverance, focus and the zeal to clear the papers. The session was highly informative wherein Ms. Sneha explained every minute details and gave clarity on the plan about managing ACCA along with the regular classes and also efficiently utilizing the time. Ms.Sneha shared her experience of being a student in the college and the way in which she managed to prepare for the ACCA exams while also managing to prepare for the regular B.Com examinations.

Ms. Sneha clarified the queries and doubts of the students precisely and motivated them to plan their ACCA journey properly without any hassle or confusions. In conclusion, the session was highly informative and it was able to provide the students a foundation to start their journey forward.


Alumni Mentoring

‘ACCA is a gateway to global career’. It is the leading professional accounting body in the world. The ACCA Professional Qualification, covering all accounting disciplines, can act as a springboard to career success in many different areas of accountancy and finance. The learner must recognize the level of commitment and perseverance required to ace the race. The exams are competitive and requires the learner to equip themselves with in-depth concepts relating to accounting and Finance that’s what makes the ACCA exams not an easy bet.

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an alumni mentoring session on 28th September 2022 at Auditorium P1, PG block, for the second year B. Com ACCA students. The resource person was Ms.Sneha Siby, ACCA Affiliate –alumni 2017-2020 B.Com ACCA.

The focus of the session was to motivate the students to take up the ACCA exams. The speaker shared tips for effectively preparing for ACCA exams. Emphasis on Time Management and Practice of Mock test papers was laid. Ms.Sneha shared her personal experiences and strategies adopted for clearing ACCA exams. She explained the availability of study materials, practice kit, mock exams as well as the question paper pattern. She insisted on the importance of time management during exams. The students were also asked to create a LinkedIn profile and establish connects. The session was interactive and invited an open discussion with the students.

Alumni Meet - 2022, Batch 2018-21

Building meaningful relationships with students and alumni is important for the strategic growth and advancement of higher education programs. Going back to the college is that shaped the route of one’s own life and it is an unexplainable experience. The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organised the Alumni Meet in association with Kristu Jayanti Alumni Association on 18th June 2022 at 2.00 pm. The formal session commenced with the presidential address delivered by Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Principal, Krisut Jayanti College. Father shared the journey of the institution and the important role played by the alumni in brand building and elevating the institution to greater heights.

Prof. Vijaya Kumar, HOD, Department of Commerce gave a presentation on the highlights of the Department and the broad aspects of the department activities initiatives and growth. The formal session concluded with the vote of Thanks and the Jayantian Anthem played by the college choir.

The session was followed by the informal programme with a host of activities and performances including ventriloquism, western dance and tribute to Late Puneet Rajkumar- Kannada actor. Finally, with all the smiles, hugs and fellowship, the campus witnessed a colourful streak of enthusiastic and excited participants. The fact that alumni are not just an assemblage of old or passed out students, but a wonderful get together of alumni to reminisce the great moments spent in the days of old.


Orientation on “Crack CMA Exams”

Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organised orientation programme on “Crack CMA Exams” on 3rd March 2022 in Auditorium A1, Admin Block for the second and third year B.Com CMA aspirants. Ms. Sharaniya B P the General Manager of Vanitha Sugars Pvt. Ltd. addressed the students

The main objectives of the programme were to discuss with the CMA aspirants, the methods to make efficient use of the study material provided, the study pattern of students, tips on exam preparation and the benefits of completing the CMA Exams. Ms. Sharanya shared her personal experience in attempting and clearing the CMA exams with high scores. The resource person also provided information on tips for effectively preparing for CMA exams.


ORIENTATION ON “ACCA-Tricks and Tips”
Date: 12 February 2022
The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a guest lecture on “ACCA- Tricks and Tips” on 12th February, 2022, at 11.00 am on Zoom platform. Ms. Flevy George, Assurance Consultant, EY was the resource person. The programme was organized for the first year students of B.Com ACCA P5 and P6 as well as the second year students of B.Com ACCA A & B.

The main focus of the lecture was to share tips on clearing ACCA exams. Ms. Flevy, ACCA Associate and alumni (2017-20 batch) shared the importance of ACCA as a profession and gave the students an in-depth knowledge on the importance of navigating through their ACCA exams and making complete use of the resources provided by ACCA for their exams. Ms. Flevy also shared insights on her experience working as an assurance consultant at EY and the different opportunities awaiting future ACCA affiliates. The session concluded with an open discussion wherein the queries raised by the students were clarified by the resource person.


Orientation On “Planning The Acca Journey”
Date: 05 February 2022
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a guest lecture on “Planning the ACCA Journey” on 5th February, 2022, at 11.00 am on Zoom platform. Ms. Liya Mathew, Assurance Associate, PWC was the resource person. The programme was organized for the first year students of B.Com ACCA P5 and P6.

The main focus of the lecture was about the experience of Ms. Liya relating to the plan and strategies she had developed for the preparation of her ACCA exams. Ms. Liya had added the tips such as time management as well as the strategy to complete the required portions before the examination. Students had asked the resource person questions regarding what papers were suggested to be attempted with regard to the optional papers. Ms. Liya had also taken the time to update the students on the current developments in ACCA and its value in the corporate world. The session concluded with an open discussion wherein the queries raised by the students were clarified by the resource person.


Orientation o “Real Life Challenges While Clearing ACCA”
Date: 29 January 2022
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance organized a guest lecture on “Real Life Challenges while clearing ACCA exams” on 29th January, 2022 at 11.00 am on Zoom platform. Ms. Merlyn Nikita PF, Audit Associate, BDO Rise was the resource person. The programme was organized for the first year students of B.Com (Batch 2021-24) ACCA P5 and P6.

The focus of the lecture was sharing tips on preparing for ACCA exams. MS. Merlyn had added the challenges she faced and strategies that were used to bounce back from her failures. Students had asked the resource person questions regarding the value of the course in the corporate world and what additional skills were required after the completion of ACCA. Ms. Merlyn had taken the time to update the students on the current developments in ACCA with regards to the new names for the subjects, the mode of examination as well as the PER( Personal Experience Requirement). The session concluded with an open discussion wherein the queries raised by the students were clarified by the resource person.


Alumni Mentoring Session
Date: 6 October, 2021
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an Alumni Interaction for first year BCom Professional students on 6th October 2021. The objective of the programme was to prepare and guide the students preparing for CA exams. Ms. Karthika explained the strategies required while preparing various subjects. She explained the question paper pattern and the availability of Mock test papers and Revision Test Papers on the ICAI website. Ms. Karthika discussed the registration procedure and the life as an intern. She motivated the first year students to be confident, put in hard work and remain focused .She addressed the queries raised by the students. The session proved to be impelling and helpful for the students.


A Smooth Transition - Campus to Corporate
Date: 27 September 2021
Transition is an on-going process in everyone’s life that takes place at different stages. Transition from campus to corporate requires precision and caution as one needs to ensure that he/she possesses the required skills to cope up with the corporate culture and climate and is able to adopt and adapt to the new environment. It is an opportune moment for students to refurbish and gain upon corporate readiness on the transition from being a student to becoming a professional while learning to blend into the new corporate world, and be willing to showcase their unique talents that will help them stand out among their peers.

Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) exhibits a unique system of ensuring smooth transition from academics to corporate environment, accompanied with a well-structured interface with the corporate world.

With the intent of preparing the students to fit in a competitive world, the Department of Professional Accounting and Finance, organised a session on “Campus to Corporate- A Smooth Transition” on 27th September at 9.30 am for the students. The event started with the moment of silent prayer, and Mr Auryn and Ms Nikita- the student co-ordinators welcomed the gathering and the special guest Ms Nandini Mehta.

Ms Nandini Mehta, proud alumni of our college currently working with Federal Bank as Assistant Manager handling Credit and Forex Operations handled the session and briefed about the steps involved in the interview process and the required preparations for the same. In the course of the session speaker highlighted the importance of Aptitude Test and also shared certain tips with students on the process involved at Placements.

An illuminating session concluded by the closing remarks of Professor Dr. Annie Stephen, Co-ordinator of Professional Accounting and Finance. The session was interactive and engaging.


Orientation “Roadmap To Acca Journey “

The Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted Alumni mentoring Programme on “Roadmap to ACCA journey” on 27th October 2021. The resource person was Ms.Sneha Sebastian , ACCA affiliate and an alumni of 2017-2020 BCom batch. The main objective of the talk was to motivate the students to take up ACCA exams and share tips to ace the exams. The speaker explained the importance of time management, and also emphasized on the need to start early to reap the benefits. She also highlighted the importance of physical and mental health and wellbeing. Commitment and Determination is an important factor highlighted by the speaker for clearing ACCA exams. The importance of creating a time schedule was emphasized and that rot learning was not recommended. The speaker also encouraged the students to practice and re-practice the kit provided by ACCA. Time management is a crucial factor in ACCA exams. The speaker stressed on the need to manage time and have a bottoms up approach during exams. The students are also asked to go through the technical articles available in the ACCA website as it enhances one’s ability to comprehend the concepts. She stated that failure was another important ingredient for success and that failure is an important teacher and therefore she encouraged the students to learn from failure and never give up. Several questions were posed by the students and the speaker addressed all the queries. The session ended with Vote of Thanks delivered by the students.


Workforce of the Future
Date: 18th September 2021
Department of Professional Accounting and Finance conducted an Alumni Interaction for third-semester B.Com students on "Workforce of the Future" for the academic year 2021 – 2022. The present world is constantly changing and so are the prospects of the workforce. In this regard, an alumni interaction on Workforce of the future was found apt and hence this programme was organized on 18th September 2021 through the zoom platform. The main objective of the programme was to enlighten the students about the prospects in the field of Human Resources and the key skills required for the workforce of the future. Mr. Rinu Mathew, the resource person addressed the students and spoke about the transition to a gig economy, the perennials and also discussed the key skills of the future. He also emphasized on the subject of creating your own ladder in the company. The resource person also spoke on the evolution of the workforce and the skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, creativity people management, emotional intelligence and decision making, negotiation and cognitive flexibility are the qualities that are sought after in a corporate setup. The session was interactive and useful.
