Acumen 2024 - Intra Collegiate Management Fest

The Department of Management at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, proudly hosted ACUMEN 2024, the annual management fest, on September 11th and 12th. This year’s fest, themed "The Maverick," drew inspiration from chess, focusing on strategic thinking, foresight, and tactical decision-making—essential skills for both chess and management. Over 820 first- and second-year BBA students actively participated in a variety of competitions, including Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and the prestigious Best Manager event.
The events, designed to challenge students across multiple management disciplines, mirrored the tactical movements of a chess game. Participants faced real-world business scenarios that required creativity, leadership, and sharp decision-making. Each event was carefully structured to reflect the chess theme, making the competition both intellectually engaging and strategically demanding. ACUMEN 2024 pushed participants to think critically and act decisively, akin to a well-played chess match.
The valedictory session on September 12th recognized winners across categories, with standout individuals and sections honored for their achievements. The highly competitive Best Manager event was a highlight, while sections from both first- and second-year students were crowned overall champions. The event provided a valuable platform for students to showcase their talents and develop their strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
ACUMEN 2024 was a resounding success, with the Department of Management at Kristu Jayanti College receiving praise for its flawless execution and innovative approach. The chess-themed competitions not only deepened students' understanding of management concepts but also prepared them for real-world challenges. This event reaffirmed Kristu Jayanti College’s commitment to shaping future business leaders through immersive, hands-on learning experiences.
Prodigy 2024 National Level Inter Collegiate Management Fest
Prodigy is a National level Management fest, conducted annually since 2003. The objective of the fest is to organize management events to test students on innovation, creativity and problem solving. Building upon the foundations of Light and Prosperity, this event aims to enlighten and enrich students.
The much-awaited inauguration ceremony of Prodigy 2024; National level management fest took place on 22nd January 2024 at 9 am in A2 Auditorium, Admin Block. The inauguration ceremony begun in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, students, participants from all over the country as well as industry professionals. The event started with an impressive inaugural address by Mr Nigel John Head of talent Acquisition, Withumsmith+brown India LLP, Bengaluru, who shared valuable insights into the significance of fostering managerial talent in today's dynamic business environment. In his speech he quoted the famous words of Stephen King “Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” He also gave few key points to be one step ahead in this growing competitive world, the points that were mentioned by him were how to broaden communicational medium, how to collect right data from the target customers and put it in right use for the overall betterment of the business. The highlight from Fr. Dr. Augustine George’s speech was about the transformational journey in their learning process that every student goes through when they participate in this kind of competitions, he also pointed about the fostering and impactful friendship they create simultaneously while sharing knowledge.
The theme for Prodigy, "The Chronicle" invites participants to exercise their brain muscles for making wary decisions involving high stakes across eras. This theme reflects the fest's focus on encouraging participants to think creatively, work collaboratively, and equip themselves with the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-evolving business landscape. Only true leaders who can wield their skills to tackle eras and unite futures can be written down as a Chronicle. There were five events as part of Prodigy; Best Manager, Marketing, HR, EDP and Finance.
The much awaited valedictory ceremony for Prodigy 2024, took place at 4:30pm in A2 Auditorium, Admin Block. The valedictory ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries Fr. Joshy Mathew; Head Department of English, Director Human Resource Development Centre, Prof. Surendranath Reddy, Head Department of Management and Faculty and student coordinators. The auditorium was filled with vibrant participants (17 contingent and 23 individual team; 358 participants) from across India. The overalls championship was won by - ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF COMMERCE, Bengaluru. The runner up championship was won by ST. CLARET COLLEGE, Bengaluru.
The student coordinators of the fest, Ms Aashni R and Mr Surendar CA and the Faculty Coordinators Mr. Bijin Philip, Dr. Geethu Anna Mathew and Ms. Diana Erudiyanathan expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful planning and execution of the event. The dedication and hard work of the organizing team were evident in the flawless coordination of the entire fest.
Virtuoso-2023 - A Management Workshop
The Virtuoso 2023 event encompassed a range of activities about Marketing, Human Resource, Finance, and Entrepreneurship. Additionally, the event involved the selection of the Best Manager, which was overseen by faculty coordinators and student coordinators. An outstanding aspect of Virtuoso 2023 was the diverse array of events and challenges that rigorously assessed the participants' abilities. Students were able to apply their classroom learning to real-world circumstances through activities such as real-time marketing, HR simulation, Financial Auctions, Entrepreneurial skills, and Assessing Stress levels. These events afforded the first-year students with significant insights and practical expertise.
The programme began with a motivational inauguration ceremony that included a welcoming talk delivered by Mr. Arshad, the student coordinator, and a Presidential talk delivered by Fr. Jais V Thomas. After the presidential address, Prof. Madhusudhanan R, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, delivered the event prelude. The keynote talk was presented by Ms Smitha Balakrishnan, a notable HR Manager at Iron Mountain and an alumnus of the BBM Batch 2002-2005. The enlightening presentation established the ambience for the occasion, underscoring the significance of leadership and innovation within the realm of business.
Marketing & Services Management Skill Based Exhibition Koushala 2023
Koushala 2023 - a Skill based Exhibition on Marketing and Services Management organized by the Department of Management exclusively for the second year BBA students as part of their academic curriculum and also with respect to the subject Marketing and Services management on November 7th, 2023 at 9.30 am at the A2 Auditorium. The exhibition aimed to showcase and enhance the student’s skills in refining their ideas and practical insights on the latest marketing and services management techniques and provide an integrative learning experience. Mr. Subish Jose, Director, Sales & Partnerships, Fifth & Tech, Dubai was the Chief Guest for Koushala 2023.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Subish Jose, Director, Sales & Partnerships, Fifth & Tech, Dubai addressed the gathering by mentioning the restructuring of institutions to arrange diverse events and activities, fostering the development of student’s various skills and abilities. He highlighted the competitive nature of the corporate world, emphasizing that every student must enhance their skills and knowledge to seize career opportunities. He discussed the current market conditions in India and stressed the level of competence needed for students to thrive in today’s corporate landscape. He advised students to cultivate uniqueness and leave their mark before graduating and stepping into the professional realm.
Koushala 2023 – a Skill based Exhibition on Marketing and Services Management assessed the student’s innovative and creative thoughts in exhibiting their working model related to service sector in new dimensions. It featured 46 teams from III Sem BBA students, in which each team consisted of 6 students exhibiting their skills and knowledge to present the various aspects related to service industries in the country. Koushala 2023, featured exhibits ranging from Tourism & travel services, Hotel & Hospitality industry, IT sector, Energy saving and Waste Management, etc. prepared their model to display in this exhibition.
Koushala 2023 – a Skill based Exhibition on Marketing and Services Management promoted the student’s creativity in preparing the model and also different ways to promote the service sector in terms of business perspective and also in new dimension. The participants found this experiential learning process extremely useful as they were able to apply subject knowledge to practical situations. In this exhibition, the students learned to express their innovative ideas and also helped them to develop self-confidence among themselves. Overall eight teams out of 27 teams were selected, the first prize was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.2000, Second prize was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.1000 and the remaining six teams with a consolation prize of Rs.500 each and it was felicitated by Mr.C. Surendhranatha Reddy, Head, Department of Management.
Innovatio 2023
On April 15th, 2023, the Department of Management at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore, organized an exclusive event named Innovatio 2023 for the final year BBA students. The event aimed to encourage and bring out the creative business plan ideas of the students and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent. This year innovation 2023 was led by teacher coordinator Mr. Manjunath S, Dr. Leelavathi R, and Mr. Ajai Abraham Thomas. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, and it was a grand success. The event began with a classroom-level selection round in which all the final-year BBA classes participated. Out of all the participants, 19 teams were selected for the second round. The second round was held in the presence of esteemed judges, Dr. Rakhi Mohan and Prof. Jagannathan. The judges evaluated the teams based on their presentations and other parameters and selected the top 8 teams for the final round. The final round of the competition was held on the same day in the presence of two distinguished judges, Dr. Muruganantham A and Dr. Baba Gnanakumar. Dr. Muruganantham A is the Director of Kristu Jayanti Incubation Centre, President of the Institution Innovation Council, and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science [PG]. Dr. Baba Gnanakumar is the Director of Consultancy and Corporate Training at Kristu Jayanti College. The teams presented their innovative business plan ideas, and the judges evaluated them based on various parameters such as feasibility, creativity, and impact. All the teams presented outstanding ideas that impressed the judges and audience alike. The presentations were thought-provoking and highlighted the students' innovative thinking and business acumen. Chirag and his team secured the first prize, Shibu and his team secured the second prize, and Zubair and his team secured the third prize. The event was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel P J and Mr. Sankreet, an alumnus of Kristu Jayanti College and owner of Sankey's Burger. They appreciated the efforts of the Department of Management for organizing such an innovative event and encouraged the students to showcase their talent.
Prodigy 2023
Department of Management organized Prodigy 2023 – The national level intercollegiate fest was organized in the even semester of 2023. Nine colleges took part in the competitions. Prodigy 2023 was incorporated with the theme “Epoch”, which signifies the essence of time, in creating notable innovations and captures time for immortality. Prodigy 2023 was inaugurated by Mr. Karthik Tallam, Honory counsel of the kingdom of Cambodia, spoke of the qualities of the Z- generation and their uniqueness as they are born and develop in the digital age. They tend to be less bookish and therefore such platforms are extremely important for the students. Prodigy 2023 had five events and five types of rounds in each event. The events were as follows
• Taylors tournament - Best Manager
• Mayo’s marvels - Human resources
• Grahams game – Finance
• Kotlers kingdom – Marketing
• Fayols flight – Best Management Team
The event challenged the participants to give their best to come out victorious and served as platform for the participants to showcase their talents.
Inquizitive 2022- a Business Quiz competition
Inquizitive 2022- a Business Quiz competition was organized by the Department of Management (BBA) to inculcate interest in current affairs in business and a culture of quizzing among BBA students. The quiz also aimed at bringing the best talent among the students and developing knowledge about business affairs. The competition had two prelims conducted on 02nd November 2022 and 7th November 2022 and the finals were conducted on 10th November 2022. The students were divided into teams of 2 each and a total of 97 teams were registered for the competition. The two prelims which consisted of MCQ-type questions, Guess the Personality, etc on different topics like an advertisement, company logos, taglines, etc. were conducted for the teams. This competition enhanced the students to improve their IQ in the field of business and to develop their self-confidence to take part in this kind of event in the future. Over Six teams out of 95 teams were selected for the Finals, and the teams who secured the first prize and second prize were awarded trophies and certificates, and the team which secured the third prize was given certificates.
ACUMEN – Management Event
Department of Management Organised a Intra fest for the second and final year students of BBA on 20th and 21st of September. The ACUMEN – Management Event was focused on the theme of “THEOGONY” The Theogony contains a systematic genealogy of the gods from the beginning of the world and an account of their violent struggles before the present order was established. With this concept the programme was well planned with containing of events namely Marketing, Human Resource, Finance, Best Management Team, and Best Manager. All the events were separately headed by Teachers coordinator’s along with student’s coordinators. Final years students are led the ACUMEN- 2022 events and first and second year BBA students were participated. Events adequate points were well discussed at primary stage with teachers and students coordinators and prepared the schedule accordingly. The participants are oriented about the events, with proper guidelines. There were total of five events like Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Best Management Teams, Best Manager. Prelims of each event were conducted on 13th September and 15th & 16th Septemberr second round of the event were conducted. On 20th September the ACUMEN-2022 was inaugurated by Ms.Bindu Govindan, General Manager-HR, Tismo Technology Solution Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, and final round was conducted and the winners are announced during valedictory function on 21st September 2022.
The aim of the event is to inspire and encourage the budding mangers to inculcate the information of each functional areas of management and enhance the professional skill through their roles assigned and areas interested to participate. It is promptly achieved and students also expressed their experienced. Students were extended their knowledge, experience and understanding the different perspectives on Management function like leadership, Directing, guiding and motivating skills through leading the event flawlessly to the participants. Also the students were enhanced their organizing tactics, coordinating and controlling talents. Participants are experienced, evolved and enlightened themselves through their active involvement of the various events.
Prodigy 2022
Prodigy 2022 - International Management Fest, was conducted during the even semester of every academic year since 2009. The objective of the fest is to organize different management events to test the innovative and various management skills of the students. Each participant showcased their intelligence to think outside the box, which helped them overcome the obstacles that stood in their way and become a real professional to climb the ladder to be the best. Prodigy 2022 was incorporated with the theme “Ascendance”, which signifies the act of rising or moving to a higher level. During these times of adversity, we all have to come together stronger than ever and invincible. The theme of the year indeed inspired every participant to determine their strength to look over these adversities and climb the ladder of success and make it lean against the right wall.
Prodigy 2022 was inaugurated by our Chief Guest, Mr Prahlad Rao, Founder & Director, Thomas Assessments Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, who shared his experience, which displayed the various qualities in his life. He had given valuable guidance to the young minds that they should not compromise a few things in life and always work hard, focus and develop their qualities to be the best.
Prodigy 2022 had two types of rounds in each event: Preliminary rounds and qualifying rounds. The event winners are decided only on qualifying rounds; however qualifying rounds have bonus points considered for determining overalls and runners-up.

The event proved influential in providing a lot of input to the participants and a practical understanding of various management skills in the real corporate world. It has served as an essential platform for young minds to mould their professional skills effectively. Prodigy 2022 featured around 200 participants from 32 esteemed institutions, of which a few colleges were from Australia & Oman and the rest of the participants are from various parts of our country. Christ- Deemed to be University, Bangalore won the overall winner trophy and CMS B-School, Jain University, Bangalore won the Runners-Up trophy.
ACUMEN – Management Event
Department of Management organises The ACUMEN – Management Event on 10th November 2021 to encourage and motivate the budding first year management students to participant and understand the all functional perspective of management and to encourage and motivate the budding management students to participant and understand the all functional perspective of management. The fest focused on the theme of “Sustainability In Virtual Reality” was well planned with comprising of events namely Marketing, Public Relation, Best Management Team, Finance and Best CEO. All the events were separately headed by Teachers along with student’s coordinators. Final years students are headed the ACUMEN- Events and First year BBA students are participants of the event. Events fine points were well discussed at early stage with teacher and students coordinators and prepared the schedule accordingly. The participants are oriented about the events, with proper guidelines. Prelims of the each event were conducted on 30th October and 4th November second round of the event were conducted. On 10th November the ACUMEN was inaugurated by Mr.Ravi Jangra, Deputy Director, Centre for Management Development, AIMA, Delhi. and final round was conducted and the winners are announced during valedictory function on the same day. The aim of the event is to motivate and encourage the budding mangers to inculcate the information of the each functions of management and enhance the managerial skill through their roles assigned and areas interested to participate. It is promptly achieved and students are also expressed their experienced. Inquizitive 2021
Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) organized Inquizitive 2021 on 19th November 2021, a Business Quiz competition- Intra Collegiate Fest for BBA students to inculcate the interest in current affairs in business and promote the culture of quizzing among students. The quiz also aims at bringing the best talent among the students and developing knowledge about business affairs. The competition had two prelims conducted on 15th November 2021 and 17th November 2021, and the finals on 19th November 2021. The students were divided into teams of 2 each and a total 47 teams were registered for the competition. The teams had to participate in two prelims: MCQ type of questions, Guess the Personality, etc., on different topics like advertisement, company logos, taglines, etc.
Inquizitive 2021 – a business quiz competition provides a platform to students to develop their knowledge, especially in the business sector. In this competition, students learned to improve their IQ in the field of business and develop their self-confidence to take part in similar events in the future. Six teams out of 24 teams were selected for the finals after the prelims. The first and second prize winning teams were awarded with trophies and certificates, and the third prize-winning team was given certificates.
Acumen Intra Collegiate Management Fest
Department of Management organised Intra Collegiate Management Fest for the students of III BBA hosted by the final year students. In recent years, the application of virtual and augmented reality learning environments is increasing both in general education (primary, secondary, and university studies) and in technical education in industrial or professional fields. In addition, the current epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 has encouraged the adoption of non-formal education and current patterns indicate that distance learning will gain more weight in the near future. Therefore, new applications based on Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are expected to emerge in the coming years to facilitate students' self-study, provide extensive practical work opportunities, or even teach theoretical content. These new educational challenges generate a high level of expectations in institutions and individuals. The ACUMEN was inaugurated by Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, Professor, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, Delhi on 7th October. The final round of the event was conducted on 8th October and the winners were announced during the valedictory function on the same day.
The event aimed to inculcate the knowledge of each function of management and enhance the managerial skill through their roles assigned and areas interested to participate. It is promptly achieved and students also expressed their experience. Students gained knowledge and understanding of the different perspectives on Management functions like leadership skills through leading and motivating the participants and also enhanced their organizing tactics, coordinating and controlling talents. 310 Participants experienced and enlightened themselves through their active involvement of the various events.
Innovatio 2021 - Inauguration
The Department of Management organised Innovatio 2021 on April 19th 2021 for the final year students of the department. Innovatio 2021 is a business plan competition where the entrepreneur and creative skills of the students are put to test. This is the first time Innovatio has been conducted virtually.
The inauguration of Innovatio 2021 began at 9.15 am. The Chief Guest was Dr. K.P. Najeemudeen, the founder and CEO of Crea Insights – Business Research & Creative Solutions. The welcome address was given by Ms. Megha Subramanian, Student Coordinator Department of Management. The main objective of the event conducted was to remould the students into business professionals and provide a platform for students to showcase their innovative business ideas. The business plan competition was a team event with three students in each team. The Covid-19 pandemic posed the challenge of conducting such an event but the power of digital era beat this challenge.
The faculty coordinator of Innovatio 2021 was Prof. Manjunath. S who gave the prelude of Innovatio 2021. Dr. K.P. Najeemudeen, the Chief Guest in his address he gave the example of the company FedEx and how their business idea also came out through a similar business plan competition. He shared his wisdom and thoughts from various experiences in his life and gave ten points about how one should begin their entrepreneurial and business journey. He explained the points in great detail with examples from his own life. His words definitely enlightened and inspired the audience on how to go about their career and professional life in the right way was highly appreciative of the manner in which the event was organised by the department and also said that such competitions are essential because it is an opportunity for new business ideas to be formed. Finally the event was conclude by Ms. Samantha Morris with the vote of thanks.

Inquizitive 2020
Inquizitive 2020, the second edition of Business Quiz competition organized by the Department of Management (BBA) on 28th November 2020 at 12.00 pm. The aim of this business quiz is to inculcate the Interest towards current affairs in business and a culture of quizzing among BBA students. The quiz also aims at bringing the best talent among the students and developing knowledge about business affairs. The competition had two prelims conducted on 11th November, 2020 and 18th November, 2020 and the finals were conducted on 28th November, 2020. The students were divided into teams of 2 each and totally 82 teams were registered for the competition. The two prelims which consisted of MCQ type of questions, Match the Following, Guess the Personality etc on different topics like advertisement, company logos, taglines, etc. were conducted for the teams.
In this competition, students learned to improve their IQ in the field of business and to develop their self-confidence to participate in these kinds of events in the future. Overall three teams out of 65 teams were selected, the first prize and second prize winners were awarded with trophies and certificates and third prize winners were awarded certificates.
ACUMEN 2020
Department of Management organized the Intra Collegiate Management fest ACUMEN 2020 on 15th October 2020 and 16th October 2020 with a spark of competitive spirit among the students, before which there were a series of competitive rounds conducted as prelims which kindled their managerial adroitness. The unprecedented challenge COVID-19 pandemic, we all face today, did not, however, stop Acumen 2020. Acumen 2020, for the very first time, was conducted using online platforms which enabled the participants, student coordinators and teachers to come together and connect virtually no matter where they were physically located. This shows the power of the Digital Era we live in and the resilience of each and every one of us.
The Inauguration ceremony of Acumen 2020 commenced at 9:15 AM. It was inaugurated by Ms. Lakshmi Konnanath, Director and Founder, VICIGI, Coimbatore, TamilNadu through virtual Mode in Zoom platform. The ceremony started off by invoking God’s blessing by the College choir and the Introduction was delivered by Dr. Jisha V G, Faculty coordinator for Acumen’20. Dr. Fr. Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College delivered the presidential address stressing on the importance of values and adaptability in the current corporate world. He also appreciated the department teachers and students for organizing and pulling off a great show through Digital mode, which focused on stimulating the management aspects to actual practice. His motivational speech was a great inspiration to the audience as well as the participants.
For the 1st year students it was an individual participation and the second years were divided into teams of three, for each event except Best CEO. The following events were conducted for first years namely: Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship Development, and Best Manager. Events for second year were Best Management team, Public relations, Digital Marketing, Wealth Management and Best CEO. There were 299 participants from First year and 307 Participants from the second year. The prelims for various events commenced on 5th of October and concluded on 12th of October. After all the comprehensive rounds of prelims, Best 5 were selected for the final round.
Valedictory ceremony of Acumen 2020 commenced at 3:45 p.m. on 16th October 2020 on Zoom Platform. The session began with a Silent prayer followed by feedback given by the 1st and 2nd year participants on the respective event they participated in which the outcome of Acumen was clearly stated. The students had a great learning experience by applying theory into simulation. The feedback session was followed by Dr Aloysius Edward, Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management addressing the students on the importance of participating in fests like Acumen, and making the impossible possible. Prof. Gincy Charles and Dr. Roshen Theresa, Faculty coordinators for Acumen’20 announced the results for the 1st and the 2nd year students.
Acumen 2020 supports building skills in students such as Time management, Team Work, Stress Management, Organization skills, Patience and Confidence. These skills will help them carve a niche for themselves in their careers. It made a great impact on students' perspective towards Management Studies and helped them to analyze their strengths and weaknesses and how they could overcome challenges.
Prodigy 2020
The Department of Management (BBA) organized Prodigy 2020- a National Inter-Collegiate management fest headed by the final year students, supported by the first and the second year students of BBA. Prodigy has been conducted by the department every year since its inception in the year 2007. Its aim is to nurture and develop the younger generation of leaders and managers. To bring awareness of the change in the business world and scarcity of the resources, the fest was themed ‘Armageddon’ with the tagline, “Can You Outlive the End”. Prodigy's theme, under different timelines, is one of the most relevant themes today. It engages the participants in various scenarios of limited resources and brings up strategies for the future sustainability. A total of 106 students were divided into 11 teams, each with a unique code.
Prodigy 2020 was inaugurated by Ms. Arthi Sunil, Founder Director, Indriya Lifestyle Ventures whose presence manifested a positive vibe among the enthusiastic participants. Ms. Neha Sarah Eapen, Student Coordinator for Prodigy’20 welcomed the gathering and Prof. Shilpa Rao (faculty coordinator, Prodigy’20) introduced the major verticals of the business field in her prelude which was a great start to the event. The key events were Shark Tank, Scarcity Optimization, Margin Call, The Lone Wolf and Designated Survivor. The Inaugural ceremony commenced with Rev Fr. Jose Kutty P. D, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College delivering the presidential address where he stimulated the students to upgrade their knowledge, and made insightful comparison of human existence to that of a tree. He added the qualities of a leader – Vision, Confidence, and Positive attitude. He also extended his appreciation to the department and the Prodigy Team in organizing the Fest and wished all the luck to the participants. The students were amazed with Ms. Arthi Sunil’s short yet impactful address, where she spoke of importance of excellence and quality without compromising ethics and values. This served as a great start to the event and evoked the sense of determination among the participants.
Mr. Jason Joseph, Student Coordinator for Prodigy’20 rendered the Vote of Thanks expressing his gratitude to all the dignitaries, organizers and wishing the participants the best for the respective events. The responses from the crowd displayed their anticipation towards the upcoming events.
All the events were set to start by 10 a.m. with the close of the inauguration. The different events were assigned different venues in the Administrative block and Main block in such a way that there was a continuous flow of rounds for every event.
Margin Call, totally 14 participants from 7 colleges (teams) participated in this finance-based event. This event had a total of 5 rounds for the fest. The participants were tested on various aspects like knowledge, trading abilities and spontaneity across rounds like Stock Broker, Interest rate analysis, Wealth Management and Shark Tank. The five rounds were divided into two preliminary and three qualifiers. The rounds of Margin call ended by 4:30 p.m.
Designated Survivor, this event witnessed totally 22 participants from 11 colleges and had a total of 4 challenging rounds. The participants were tested on reasoning ability, knowledge, time management and decision making across the rounds like Quiz, simulation, press meet and character simulation. The participants felt the rounds of this HR based event really challenging yet motivating.
Shark Tank, this marketing-based event had 20 participants from 10 colleges and had a total of 5 rounds. These rounds tested the participants’ innovation, creativity, knowledge and spontaneity through rounds like extempore, STP, Synergy and Scrap round. These rounds proved to be really interesting and all the participants were very much engrossed into making various innovations.
Scarcity Optimization, the entrepreneurship event had a total of 5 rounds. The rounds tested aspects like Decision making, Entrepreneurship knowledge, reasoning and time management across rounds like Technology disruption, Corporate lunch, synergy and change management. The event had 14 participants from 7 colleges. The rounds of scarcity optimization ended by 4:30 pm
The Lone Wolf, an event which is always considered to be difficult and challenging witnessed 9 participants from 9 colleges. This event had 7 rounds for the day which were Aptitude quiz, Corporate Roadies, Turncoat, Brand Armageddon & Election. These rounds tested the participants’ accounting knowledge, spontaneity, reasoning and time management. The rounds of Lone Wolf concluded by 4:30 pm as well.
All the rounds of various events concluded as scheduled and the pupils proceeded for the valedictory session at 4:45 p.m. in the Mini Auditorium 3. The valedictory session began with the feedback of participants from different events. The participants were totally satisfied and felt every round challenging yet motivating. The feedback was followed by Rev.Fr. Emmanuel P.J’s address. He was really happy to see such fascinating gestures from the participants during the feedback. He appreciated the efforts of the department for making Prodigy a great success. Further, Rev.Fr. Emmanuel P.J, felicitated the winners of various events. The winners were awarded with a trophy and a certificate. The overall winners of Prodigy 2020 were Christ Deemed to be University and the runners- up were Presidency. The fest served as a productive experience and will be etched in their hearts in the years to come.
Inquizitive 2019
Inquizitive 2019, the second edition of Business Quiz competition organized by the Department of Management (BBA) on 4th October, 2019 in Mini auditorium III at 2:00pm. This programme was conducted to inculcate the Interest towards current affairs in business and a culture of quizzing among BBA students. The quiz also aims at bringing the best talent among the students and developing knowledge about business affairs. The competition had two prelims conducted on 1st October, 2019 and 3rd October, 2019 and the finals were conducted on 4th October, 2019. The students were divided into teams of 2 each and totally 66 teams were registered for the competition. The two prelims which consisted of MCQ type of questions, Match the Following, Guess the Personality etc on different topics like advertisement, company logos, taglines, etc. were conducted for the teams. It provides a platform to the students to develop their knowledge especially in the business sector. In this competition, students learned to improve their IQ in the field of business and also it develops their self-confidence to take part in this kind of event in the future. Overall three teams out of 66 teams were selected, the first prize and second prize winning teams were awarded with trophies and certificates and third prize winning team was given certificates.
Acumen 2019
Acumen is the Department of Managements intra-collegiate fest curated by the students of the final year for the students of the first and second year. The aim of this specific fest is to stimulate creative and critical thinking and to test the ability and knowledge of the participants. The theme selected for this year’s Acumen was, ‘Digital Entertainment- an escape from reality.’
The department of management inaugurated Acumen 2019 on the 8th of August, 2019 at 9 am in Mini auditorium 3. The chief guest for the day was Mr Rajan Parulekar , Managing Director of Paradigm trainers private limited. The inauguration began with the lighting of the lamp. Later, Rev Dr. Augustine George, Vice Principal & Director, International Affairs addressed the gathering. In his address, he emphasized the importance of staying connected as individuals outside of a digital world. He also mentioned that in the dynamic corporate environment, change is the only thing that will remain constant and what will determine our success as students will be the way that we embrace the change and use it to our benefit. Mr. Rajan Parulekar addressed the gathering by highlighting the importance of a strong value system and the difference it makes in the work place, He also shared the importance and value of time, and punctuality in the corporate scenario sharing stories from his life to strengthen his stance. There was 687 participants from first year and second year. They were divided into 48 teams of 15- 17 members each, who have participated in the various events. The events for first year students were Finance, Human Resource, Entrepreneurship development, Marketing, and Best CEO. The events for the second years included Wealth Management, Public Relations, Best Management Team, Digital Marketing and Best CEO. Every event consisted of three preparatory rounds and a finale. The preparatory rounds were conducted on the 25th and 26th of July, and the 6th of August respectively, which hence geared up the students for the finals which was conducted on the 8th and 9th of August, 2019.
In today’s day and age when money is the ultimate goal, people struggle to control this asset and not have it control them. The Finance and Wealth Management Events taught the participants how to critically analyse their dealings and conduct their actions with clear foresight in order to deal with situational challenges and long term investment decisions. The participants were tested on their financial and accounting knowledge and their ability to make quick decisions.
The most diverse resource of any company is their human capital. The Human Resource event enabled the participants to manipulate human emotion and direct it towards the clubbed achievement of personal and organizational goals, The students were tested on their interpersonal and communication skills through rounds that imitated the recruitment and selection process as well as dealing with employee crisis.
Creative advertisements, head turning posters and ear catching jingles are the results of the effort put in by an enterprising and unique marketing team. The Marketing and Digital Marketing events allowed their participants to unleash their creativity and transform their ideas into viable products and services that satisfied their potential customer group.
Whether one is the president of the United States, an aspiring comedian or a keen business man, diplomacy and effective communication becomes essential. The Public Relations event taught its participants how to build an image and defend a reputation.
The dynamic business environment that surrounds us has risk lurking in at every corner hence it becomes impossible to navigate this mystery alone. The Best Management Team and Entrepreneurship development events saw the cultivation of the participant’s idea into a full-fledged business plan. In these events the strongest participants of each team worked together to face the odds of the environment and looking after all the essential aspects of their Business.
Permanence, Persistence and Perseverance is what separates the ordinary from the extra-ordinary. The Best CEO event was a platform where the students came and proved their worth pushing past stress rounds, crisis management rounds and the most difficult rounds from each aspect of management.
All the events constituting the fest came to an end with the Valedictory session of Acumen 2019 held on the 9th of August, at 4 pm in the Main Auditorium. The Valedictory session began with the feedback of the participants from the events. The participants found the tasks challenging and as a test to their abilities which motivated them to work on improving their skills and left them in anticipation for external fests. Followed by the feedback session, the Overall best performing teams were felicitated by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel P J, Director of Kristu Jayanti College of Law and Jayantian Extension services and alongside Prof. Surendranath Reddy, Head of Department of Managemet. This brought about the end of Acumen 2019, which served the purpose for which it was initiated.

Innovatio 2019", a business plan competition
The department of management organised "Innovatio 2019", a business plan competition conducted exclusively for the Final year students on 25thth January, 2019 at 1:45 pm in Mini Audi II.
The competition involves evaluating the students’ entrepreneurial skills based on business plan prepared by them. There were around 20 teams from the final year competing with each other and showcasing their talents in terms of business ventures. The competition had two levels, where students submitted their report on their business venture and the teams made their presentation in the second level. The competition aims at giving a practical understanding of making business plan, stimulating creativity in the students for business ideas and encouraging a collaborative approach towards thinking about new business. Some of the business ideas presented were Mobile Ambulance, Memory capsule, Edible cutlery and so on. The judges for the day were Prof. Gincy Charles and Prof. Monica.
Innovatio 2019 ended on a high note. The valedictory session began with the feedbacks from the participants. They gained good exposure to various business aspects in spite of their project schedules. They thanked the department for constantly providing opportunities to excel. The feedback session was followed by Rev. Fr. Augustine George, the vice principal's address to the students. He encouraged the students to come forward to covert ideas into application. There were 3 winners for the competition. The winning teams were felicitated with certificates by Rev. Fr. Augustine George. Innovatio 2019 served as an important platform for the budding entrepreneurs to develop on their venture ideas in a collaborative way.

The Department of Management (BBA) organized the annual intra collegiate management fest - Acumen’18 and a paper presentation - Anveshan 2018 exclusively for the final year students on the 13th August 2018. Acumen is the most anticipated fest of the year and it sparks the sense of a competition and learning for the students. It is organized by the final year students for the first and second year students exposing them to a series of competitive rounds to kindle their managerial adroitness.
The fest was inaugurated by Mr. M.S.Vijayan is a founding director of RESIL, a Bangalore based company that has a global presence in the field of specialty materials manufacturing. The ceremony started off with the Prelude delivered by Dr. Jisha V.G, faculty Coordinator for Acumen’18. Living in an extremely competitive world and the need to overcome obstacles in life, the theme selected for ACUMEN 2018 is “FACE THE RACE”. The participants from BBA first and second year are been grouped separately in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Business Quiz, Entrepreneurship Development, Public Relations, Best Management Team and Best Manager. The first year participants were divided into 18 teams with 20 members each and second years were divided into 15 teams with 15 members in each team.The prelims for the various events commenced on 1st if August and concluded on 10th of August . After four comprehensive rounds of prelims across 10 days, 4 teams stand between the finale and the grand prize. Rev. Fr. Augustine George, Vice Principal, Kristu Jayanti College delivered the presidential address where he appreciated the department teachers and students for organizing and pulling out a great show, his motivational words on how the world throws obstacles at one's race to success and how to transcend all of it served to be a great source of motivation to the participants. The chief guest’s address inspired the students as he stated that management is never a cake walk and being Entrepreneurs is one of the toughest fights. He also mentioned a few sentences about his company and their new launches that serve to be eco-friendly. Following this the second edition of “SPOTLIGHT”- the department's official newsletter was launched by the dignitaries.
On this note the effervescent participants sent forth to their events and actively gave their contribution towards Acumen’18 and Anveshan’18.
VALEDICTORY
Acumen and Anveshan 2018 ended on a high note. The valedictory session began with the feedbacks of 1st and 2nd year participants. They had a great week of learning and exposure to various corporate requirements. The feedback session was followed by Rev. Fr. Josekutty's address to the students. He appreciated the efforts of the department for making this event a success. He mentioned about the various victories of the BBA students since its inception. He concluded the address by quoting the department of management as the "Face of Innovation". The overall winner in the 1st years was team 'Force Motors' and 'Nissan' in the 2nd years.
The winners of Acumen and Anveshan 2018 were felicitated by Rev.fr. Josekutty P.D. Acumen has always served as an important phase of growth and learning in every BBA student's life. Hence, the event ended in a lively mood and proved to be a great success.

Anveshan is the annual paper presentation competition of the department of management, which is conducted for the final year students to promote the spirit of research. The students were divided into groups of two and made to carry out research based on the area of specialization. Topics for the paper presentation were from Finance, Marketing and Human Resource.

Virtuoso 2016
An intra-collegiate management workshop conducted by Department of Management and organized by the Final year students of BBA for the fresher students, providing an insight of the various situations a person can face in the corporate world. Virtuoso was focused on providing students a first-hand experience to various managerial aspects, where around 235 students were divided into 16 groups of 15 members each, consisting of five different events such as Best Manager, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Business Quiz.
On the 1st of July the Business quiz teams were tested on logos of companies, tag lines, products and so on and the Best Managers participants were put through another prelim round where participants were to choose famous personalities and market certain products
On the final day, 5th of July, during the inauguration Mr. Vinod Joseph, teacher in charge for the workshop gave a brief introduction to Virtuoso followed by Rev. Fr. Augustine George, Vice Principal who addressed the gathering encouraging students to participate in activities organized by department and Chief guest Ms. Reshma Hegde Managing Partner at Elan Education and Consultant who enlighten the students with her inspiring words.
Six teams emerged as the finalists. The first event, Human Resource focused on a similar rehire situations, followed by Marketing round where participants were given old products to advertise, strategize and market in today’s scenario. The Finance round consisted of a task where participants were given a task focused on long term investments and allocation of funds followed by the best manager round where six finalists were put through a personality round and followed by the final event Business Quiz.
After the finale of every event, the felicitation program was graced by Rev. Fr. Lijo P Thomas, the Financial Administrator of the college who addressed the students on the importance of teamwork
Ms. Priya M, the other teacher in charge for the workshop gave a brief report of the workshop after which the winners were felicitated. Team Shop clues and team Flipkart were felicitated as the overall winners and runners up respectively. Mr. Alan was declared as Best Manager.

Prodigy is, an inter- collegiate management fest which has been conducted for the last six consecutive years. This is an event conducted every year mainly with the view of inculcating managerial skills and nurturing the potentialities of management students (BBM) participating form various colleges in and outside Bangalore. It’s a two day management fest, held on 12 and 13 February, 2015 at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore.

Virtuoso-2015
Virtuoso, the annual, intra collegiate management workshop organised by the third years for the first years, saw the theme ‘’The Avengers” with emphasis on team work and a mind-set to give a first-hand experience to the important managerial aspects. The students were divided into 16 teams, 15 members each. Each team had a designated group leader chosen by the members themselves.

Prodigy-13, a two days management fest, held on 5 and 6 February, 2013 at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore. This fest became international with the participation of foreign students from Germany, USA and France. It was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Lodha, Sr. Vice President, Deutsche Bank, Bangalore on 5 and 6 February, 2013 at 9.30a.m.
With the theme unleash the potential, there were six events in the fest like Creativity Event, Human Resource Event, Marketing event, Finance event, Business Quiz, and Best Manager.

Virtuoso is a workshop conducted by the department of management for the first year students, organized by the final year BBM students. The workshop is mainly conducted to give the first year students a feel of what exactly a management fest is. The students are exposed to various events like Human Resource, Finance, Business Quiz, Marketing and Best Manager. Virtuoso is being conducted by the department of management (KJCMA) for the past nine years.
Virtuoso-2013
Virtuoso 2013 was a three day event which started on 8, July 2013 and lasted till 12 July 2013. On the first day the students were briefed on the various events of the fest. The initial round was conducted on the spot where they were given task to form a new company with a capital of Rs.10 lakhs. The second day i.e. 10 July 2013 the next round was conducted following which an elimination of 6 teams was done. The final day was on 12 July 2013 which started with an inauguration function where Rev Fr Jose P.J presided the function. Following the inaugural function the finals of all the events which were conducted.
Virtuoso
Virtuoso is a workshop conducted by the department of management for the first year students, organized by the final year BBM students, wherein they will be introduced to the basic concepts of managerial fests so that they will have an idea about the contents of a fest, this management is being conducted for the past 8 years.
The preparations for workshop began two days before the schedule of workshop on 27 June, 2012. The students were briefed about the events in workshop and they were assigned the task in different groups. The students are assisted by their senior students during their preparation for workshop.

List of events: - Ice breaking, Human Resource, Marketing, Finance, Business Quiz, and Best Manager.
1) Human Resource:
Objective: To give the basic knowledge about human resource practices in corporate world.
2) Marketing:
Objective: To provide the inputs on marketing practices and new product development.
3) Finance:
Objective: To equip students with functional knowledge in financial aspects.
4) Business Quiz:
Objective: To teach the fundamentals of quizzing in business.
5) Best Manager:
Objective: To educate the students about handling various issues in an organization.
Anveshan 2012
Anveshan-2012 an intra-class paper presentation competition was started in the year 2010 and is open for the final year BBM students. The students were in different groups of (2 in each group) for paper presentation and the topics were given in different areas related to management.
They were briefed about the guidelines and conditions to present papers. Later, the students were given enough time to study the given topic and submit the report on the same.
The competition was held on 25 July, 2012.
Evaluation: The presentations of the students were evaluated by the faculty members, based on areas like communication, attitude, content, presentation and rebuttal. Finally two teams were selected as the best and cash prizes were given.
