: Value-Added Course (VAC) on Professional Wellbeing

The Department of Management introduced a specialized Value-Added Course on Professional Wellbeing for I Semester BBA students from August 7, 2024 to August 14, 2024. The course was designed to equip the students with the essential tools and strategies to maintain a balanced and fulfilling work-life experience. In today’s fast-paced and demanding professional environment, the importance of wellbeing is paramount.

This initiative is part of the college’s ongoing efforts to foster holistic development among students, ensuring that they are not only academically proficient but also capable of managing the pressures and demands of the modern workplace. It covered the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of wellbeing, ensuring that participants gain a comprehensive understanding of what it means to thrive in a professional setting. Students were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyle habits that support physical wellbeing, which in turn contributes to overall professional performance. The value-added course on Professional Wellbeing was well-received by the students, who reported a greater understanding of the importance of maintaining mental, emotional, and physical health in their professional lives. Many students expressed that the course provided them with valuable tools to manage stress and improve their overall wellbeing, which they believe will contribute to their future success in the workplace.


Value Added Course (VAC) on Essentials of Entrepreneurship
Date: 23 to 30, July 2024
The Department of BBA at Kristu Jayanti College successfully conducted a Value-Added Course on "Essentials of Entrepreneurship" for III Semester BBA students from July 23, 2024, to July 30, 2024. This intensive 30-hour program was meticulously designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge and skills required to thrive in the dynamic business world.

The course commenced with an in-depth exploration of the concept of entrepreneurship. The curriculum focused on the creative aspects of entrepreneurship, emphasizing the significance of idea generation. Students learned about different sources of new ideas and methods for generating innovative concepts. The course covered opportunity recognition and the product planning and development process. Students gained insights into the critical role of entrepreneurship in economic development. Furthermore, students were guided through the steps of creating and starting a new venture, including the scope, format, and importance of business plans, along with conducting feasibility studies. The course also delved into various government initiatives supporting entrepreneurship in India.

The value added course, "Essentials of Entrepreneurship" concluded with positive feedback from participants, who expressed a heightened enthusiasm for pursuing entrepreneurial endeavours and a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.


Certificate Course On Data Analysis Using Spreadsheet
The Department of Management recently conducted a comprehensive 30-hour Certificate Course on Data Analysis using Spreadsheets. With expert instructors from the Department of Management and a focus on practical skills, participants gained valuable insights into data manipulation, logical functions, and statistical analysis. Sixty-five undergraduate students from various departments registered and attended the course. The course spanned from February 26th, 2024, to April 12th, 2024. The sessions were conducted between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM at Computer Lab AL2, on the Fifth Floor of the Admin Block. At the end of the course, an evaluation was conducted, and certificates were issued to all eligible participants. The course provided participants with a foundation in data analysis using spreadsheets. The skills and knowledge they have gained will undoubtedly prove invaluable in their future endeavours. The Department of Management is proud to have facilitated this learning experience and looks forward to conducting more such courses in the future.


Certificate Course on Aptitude Skills
The Department of Management offered Certificate Course on “Aptitude Skills” to the Second & Final year UG students. Aptitude is the acquired capacity for something and it can range from developed knowledge, learned or acquired abilities or skills, talents, which is necessary to perform a task. The aim of this course is to equip the students with basic aptitude skills through problem solving methods and testing one’s critical thinking across various contexts. This course is conducted for 30 hours as part of their curriculum which will enhance their employability skills. This course was handled by BBA faculty and each faculty was given a topics based on their preference and allotted the class for the students. Aptitude problems related to various concepts were solved out in the class and the additional problems were given to the students to get practiced in aptitude skills. The aptitude class was scheduled every Monday, Wednesday & Friday in a week from 04.30 pm to 05.30 pm all the teachers have taken the classes as per the schedule.

Through this certificate course, students will improve their analytical skills and knowledge to solve the problems with short cut techniques and build their confidence to attend the various competitive exams. Students improved their Analytical skills and knowledge to solve the problems with short cut techniques and it build confidence among them to attend the competitive and bank exams to have bright future in their career.


Value Added Course on Research for Business Executives
Date: 26th July 2023
The Department of Management conducted the Value-Added Course: Research for Business Executives for V Semester students of BBA from 26th July 2023 to 2nd August 2023. This course aimed to enhance students’ analytical and problem-solving skills by comprehensively covering various aspects of research. By understanding research methodologies, students were better equipped to address complex challenges, optimize strategies, and guide their organizations toward data-driven success. The course coordinators, Prof. Manjunath S and Prof. Suku Samuel from the Department of Management effectively coordinated this valuable program. Participants learned critical analysis, appropriate methodology selection, robust research design development, literature integration, effective communication of findings, and proper referencing and citation practices. Ultimately, this course empowered management students to excel in decision-making roles and contribute meaningfully to organizational growth.


Capacity Building Training on Life Skills Education
The Department of Management organized a comprehensive training on Life Skills Education for first-year BBA students from August 10-14, 2023. The training equipped students with crucial personal and interpersonal skills to succeed in various aspects of life. It fosters self-awareness by helping them identify and comprehend their emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and values. Furthermore, it cultivates empathy, enabling students to grasp and share others’ emotions, and fosters effective interpersonal connections. By teaching them to analyse data, assess situations, the training enhances their critical thinking and make proper judgments. Additionally, it nurtures creative thinking, empowering students to generate innovative solutions and ideas for problem-solving. The training cultivates adept decision-making skills by enabling students to evaluate alternatives and select the best path through meticulous consideration. Moreover, it encourages identifying challenges, analysing their origins, formulating effective resolution strategies, and enhancing problem-solving capacities. The training hones effective communication, enabling the students to convey thoughts, ideas, and information persuasively and lucidly. Furthermore, it facilitates establishing and sustaining positive and meaningful interpersonal relationships. Lastly, the training imparts coping skills, thereby teaching students about stress management for emotional and mental well-being, and fostering healthy emotional understanding, regulation, and expression.


I BBA - Self Branding
As a part of Academic Curriculum, Department of Management provided Value Added Course to the Ist year BBA students with a theme of “Self-Branding” from 17/08/2022 to 25/08/2022. The main objective is to develop the concept of business etiquette and the proper etiquette practices for different business scenarios. To learn the etiquette requirements for meeting, telephone, dressing, interview and internet business interaction scenarios. The syllabus was framed with diverse contents which compressed with three different units with an equal weightage to enrich the ability of students. This course was handled by BBA faculty and each faculty was given topics based on their preference. the schedule was prepared to give equal importance to concepts and activities which would encourage the students to engage actively and learn happily. The In-house resources were involved in handling the session in most engaging and inspirational manner. Through this course, students improved their industry required skills like networking, time management, different etiquettes which would help them to distinguish from others. This also helps to develop the habit of personal hygiene and dress code nourish themselves in their personal and professional career.


III BBA – Corporate Etiquettes
Department of Management (BBA) offered value added course on Corporate Etiquettes to the III BBA students from 04/08/2022 to 12/08/2022. This value added course is customized with the objective to make the students industry ready. The syllabus is also designed in such a way to attain the objective in the effective manner. The courses content consists of theoretical and skill developmental aspects to enrich the student’s knowledge. The courses are handled by BBA department faculties and allotted the class for each faculties based on their preference given on the topics. This course was scheduled from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 AM to 04.30 PM with frequent interval between the sessions.


V BBA - Digital Skills For Executives
Department of Management (BBA) provided Digital Skills for Executives course to the BBA Students in order to enhance their skills in office tools. The main objective is to provide an in-depth training in use of office tool for equipping the students for day-to-day office managerial activities at a business. The course started from 3/8/22 to 11/8/22. This course was exclusively offered for the V BBA students these courses were handled by BBA faculty members. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint is a course that presents skills training and assessment for a broad range of computing concepts and techniques. Students will gain competency in word processing and spreadsheet functions, and an understanding of the impact that computing has on society.

It is understood that exposure to computers does not equal understanding computers. So, more than ever, basic computer and Internet skills are being considered prerequisites for employment and higher education.


Value Added Course on Personality Enrichment Course
The Department of Management (BBA) offered Personality Enrichment Course from 22nd September to 29th September 2021 to the first year BBA Students in order to master the art of expressing their thoughts and feelings in the most desired way. This course was exclusively offered for the first year BBA students. All the sessions were handled by BBA faculty members and the class sessions were allotted based on the preferences given by them on the course. Due to the current pandemic situation all the classes were held online through zoom application. Faculties used various methods during their classroom session for keeping the students engaged like polling session, video session, Skill development activities etc. with enhanced better learning experience to students virtually. In some of the sessions, students were also given a case and were asked to come out with solution pertaining to the problem. The entire course was scheduled from Monday to Friday between 09:30 AM to 3.00 PM, and all the teachers have taken the classes as per the schedule.

Personality Enrichment course will help the students to groom an individual and help them to develop their communications skills, time management skills etc. The overall objective of the course was to increase and improve self-confidence, be a good human being, being positive and learn to lead and face the challenges.


Value Added Course on Corporate Leadership
Department of Management (BBA) offered value added course on Corporate Leadership to the III BBA students. The students are divided into two batches and each batch consist of three sections. This value added course is customized with the objective to make the students industry ready. The syllabus is also designed in such a way to attain the objective in the effective manner. The courses content consists of theoretical and skill developmental aspects to enrich the student’s knowledge. The courses are handled by BBA department faculties and allotted the class for each faculties based on their preference given on the topics. This course was scheduled from Monday to Saturday between 9.15 AM to 03.00 PM with frequent interval between the sessions. The entire course is conducted through the Zoom platform.

This value added course will help the student to have a better understanding of leadership and its traits. It gives the insight how to manage the conflicts in the organization. This will not only make the students industry ready but also gives a vision to choose entrepreneurship as their career.


Corporate Skills for Eecutives Course
Department of Management (BBA) provided corporate skills for executives Course to the BBA Students in order to enhance their skills required for working in an organization. This course was exclusively offered for the V BBA students and based on the total number of students registered for courses; they are divided into two batches. All the sessions were handled by BBA faculty members and the class sessions were allotted based on the preferences given by them on the topic.

In order to match with the current pandemic situation all the classes were held online through zoom application. Faculties used various methods during their classroom session for keeping the students engaged like polling session, video session, Skill development activities etc with enhanced better learning experience to students virtually. In some of the sessions students were also given a case and were asked to come out with solution pertaining to the problem. The entire course was scheduled from 09.08.2021 to 19.08.2021 between 09.15 am to 3.00 pm and all the teachers have taken the classes as per the schedule.

This Corporate Skills for Executives course will help the students to improve their corporate skills and knowledge along with learning various Strategies to build a team work and to create an account in social media like LinkedIn which helps to create a networking and develop their career in the corporate world in a successful way.


Aptitude Skills course
Department of Management as a part of academic Curriculum, Aptitude Skills course was provided to the BBA Students in order to complete their non-credit course consists of two credits. The course was conducted from 6th March 2021 to 10th March 2021. The aim of this credit course is to make students to improve their Analytical skills and knowledge to solve the problems with short cut techniques and it build confidence among them to attend the competitive and bank exams to have bright future in their career.

Aptitude skills class was taken for the IV BBA students and they are divided into two batches. This course was handled by BBA faculty and each faculty was given two topics based on their preference and allotted the class for each batches. Aptitude problems related to various concepts were solved out through the online class and the additional problems were given to the students to get practiced in aptitude skills. The aptitude class was scheduled from Monday to Friday from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm and Saturday from 9.00 am to 1.15 pm and all the teachers have taken the classes as per the schedule. The evaluation process of Aptitude Skills was done by conducting online exam through KJC LMS on 29/04/2021 from 9.30 am to 10.15 am which consists of 30 multiple choice questions evaluation was done through the LMS and result sheet is generated.


VAC on Communication Skills
BATCH I
Department of Management (BBA) provided basic communication skills training to the BBA Students in order to enhance their skills in communication. This course was exclusively offered for the 1 BBA students from 4th September 2020 to 10th September 2020 and handled by BBA faculty through Zoom Platform. This basic communication skills training would help the students to communicate effectively in professional as well as in personal life. It will help in developing strong communication skills which is essential when it comes to building a successful career. It will also help the students to create a network for the career growth. This course was aimed for students to not only communicate effectively but also to be a good listener which is an important factor for communication. Additionally, the students were given chances to present themselves as public speaker and suggestions were given to improve. Faculty used various methods during their classroom session for keeping the students engaged like polling session, video session, Skill development activities etc. which enhanced better learning experience to students virtually. In some of the sessions students were also given case studies and were asked to come out with solution pertaining to the problems. This course was scheduled from Monday to Friday between 09.15a.m. to 3.15 p.m. and all the teachers took the classes as per the schedule.

This communication skills training course will help the students to apply key communication skills as per the role assigned within the organization, and the stages in the process of communication. This course will also help students to utilize presentation tools for any interactive presentation.

BATCH II
Department of Management (BBA) provided Basic Communication Skills course to the BBA Students in order to enhance their communication skills in Corporates. This course was exclusively offered for the I BBA students. The BBA faculty through Zoom Platform handled these courses. The Classes were allotted for each faculty based on their preference given on the topics. This course would help the students to apply the communication skill at workplace. It will also help the students to improve their skills to negotiate in the corporate environment. Different Case studies were given to the students and discussed in the classes. Faculty used various methods during their classroom session for keeping the students engaged like polling session, video session, skill development activities etc., to give a better learning experience to students virtually. In some of the sessions students were also given case studies and were asked to come out with solutions pertaining to the problems. This course was scheduled from Friday to Thursday between 09.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. and all the teachers took the classes as per the schedule.

This basic communication skills course helped to acquaint students with effective communication skills required for better communication. They also got an idea about the basic concepts of communication and social media etiquette. In addition they were provided with the knowledge of how to draft an email and what is the email etiquette that needs to be maintained.


Corporate Skills for Executives
Department of Management (BBA) provided Value Added Course on “Corporate Skills for Executives” for the final year BBA Students in order to enhance their skills in the Corporates. This course was exclusively offered for the V BBA students. This course was handled by BBA faculty through Zoom Platform and the online classes were allotted to each faculty based on their preference of the topics given. This course on Corporate Skills for Executive helps the students to apply their strategic skills to work in a team or group in the organization. It makes the students to improve their skills on negotiation in the corporate environment. It improves the students to create a network for the career growth and development. During the session, different case studies were given to the students and they formed a team for discussion and presentation. Additionally, the students were given hands on training to create different Social media account to create networking in the corporate world. The faculty used various methods during their online session for keeping the students engaged like polling questions, video session, Skill development activities etc., which enhanced better learning experience to students virtually. In some of the sessions students were also given a case study and were asked to come out with solution pertaining to the problem. This course was scheduled from Monday to Friday between 09.00am to 3.30 pm and all the teachers conducted the classes as per the schedule.

This value added course on corporate skills for executives helped the students to develop their own strategies to form an effective team to achieve their team goal in the organization, improve their negotiation skills and applying those negotiation skills at workplace. This course gave a lot of learning experience for the students in creating a network through various platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. in order to develop their networking skills and to enrich their career in their respective field. 263 students benefitted from this course.


Effective Leadership Skills
Department of Management (BBA) offered value added course on “Effective Leadership Skills” to the III BBA students. The students were divided into two batches and each batch consisted of three sections. This value added course is customized with the objective to make the students industry ready. The syllabus is also designed in such a way to attain the objective in the effective manner. The course content consists of theoretical and skill developmental aspects to enrich the students’ knowledge. The courses were handled by BBA faculty and the class was allotted for each faculty based on their preference on topics given. This course was scheduled from Monday to Friday between 9.30 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. with frequent intervals between the sessions. The entire course was conducted through Zoom platform.

This value added course will help the student to have a better understanding of leadership and its traits. It gives an insight on how to manage the conflicts in the organization. This will not only make the students industry ready but also gives a vision to choose entrepreneurship as their career.


Certificate Course - Office Automation
Department of Management (BBA) provided Computer Skills courses to the BBA Students in order to enhance their skills in MS Office. This course was exclusively offered for the VI BBA students and 220 final year students were registered for courses, they are divided into three batches. These computer skill courses were handled by BBA faculty and the class for each faculty member was allotted on their preference of the topics. The various experiments as per the syllabus were solved out in the classrooms along with practical classes in the Computer lab. Additionally, the students were given experiments to practice and solve in the Office Automation course. This Office Automation course helps the students to improve their MS Office skills along with learning various other shortcut keys, which will help them in their project work conducted by college and will not only provide employers with higher-skilled employees but will also provide employees with tools that can help them work effectively. It will also equip them to advance to higher-level positions.


Certificate Course - Peronality Development
Department of Management (BBA) provided a value added course to second semester BBA Students on Personality Development in order to improve their overall personality traits so that they incorporate all these traits and become better managers tomorrow and also to enable students to improve overall personality by building self-confidence, self-esteem and behavior. The classes were designed in such a way that it not only included Interactive lectures but also included videos, role plays and activity based learning so that students could be aware of their own personality and adopt measures to improve them. This Value Added course on Personality Development will help the students to improve various skills like time management, cognitive and moral development, self-confidence, assertive skills, social etiquette and so on required for a successful career. It will also enable them to harness their strengths and work on their weaknesses. Around 351 students attended and benefited.


Certificate Course – Personal Branding & Networking
Department of Management (BBA) provided a Personal Branding and Networking course to the IV semester BBA Students as a Value Added Course which is a part of their academic curriculum. This course was exclusively offered for IV BBA students catering to all the sections with different topics dealt under this course. This course was offered by our Management faculty on the basis of their preferences and a schedule was prepared to manage the entire session effectively. Course teachers prepared a number of activities as per their session; students were introduced on how to brand themselves. The course also focused on creating LinkedIn profiles which will help the students connect to the professional world better when they brand themselves. This course will help the students understand the need, the process and importance of personal branding before getting into a professional field. They will also learn how to keep themselves updated with the right networking skills to bridge the gap in their career development. Around 230 students benefited from this course.


Business Analytics using MS Excel
Business Analytics is a field which combines data, information technology, statistical analysis, quantitative methods and computer-based models into one. It has a wide range of application from customer relationship management, financial management, marketing, supply-chain management, human-resource management, pricing, etc. There is a huge demand in the market for project managers with big data expertise. Therefore the department offers a certificate course on the same for the final year students to be well equipped with the skill and become employable.

Aptitude Skills (Credit Course)
It is essential for students to be not just equipped with subject knowledge but also have good aptitude skills (Numerical, Verbal and Logical reasoning ability). These skills are mandatory to clear competitive exams like IBPS, CAT, MAT, etc. Any company that approaches the college for campus recruitment first tests the aptitude level of the students and then proceeds with interview. Hence the department offers a credit course on the same for the second year students.

Data Analysis using Spreadsheet
Department of Management offers Value Added Certificate Course in Data Analysis using Spreadsheet. The certificate program is for a duration of 30 hours. The session will start from 31st January 2018. increase the employability of the students and empower the students to take business decisions using spreadsheet. The course also aims to increase the technical and managerial skill of the students. The syllabus of the course is as follows:
