The event was presented before Mrs. Rachana Narayanankutty cinema actress, dancer and choreographer who was not only the guest lecturer for the event but also showcased a brilliant display of her talent and incredible stage presence.

Kalakshetra Sampradaya Lecture Demonstration, by resource person, Smt. Minal Prabhu.
The Department of Performing Arts has never shied away from putting on a spectacle, nor from bringing in exceptional artistes to impart their far-reaching wisdom and expertise in the field, offering the students the ideal environment to learn and grow as budding artistes of the country, and beyond.

Smt. Minal Prabhu, did just that, in fact more. The passion for her work is clear as day when one is sat opposite her beholding the light in her eyes as she speaks and performs the art her mind and body have honed over several decades.

Her practical as well as theoretical knowledge of Bharatnatyam had us, the students of the Performing Arts, as well as others present, held in awe. The experience of being in that room, revisiting the history of ancient Indian practices of dance, it’s decorum and progression was perfectly rounded off by a practical session where we, the students, performed the namaskaram and the first thattavadu, nattadavu and paravaladavu. Perfecting our aramandi, swastikam and natyārambha helped ground the basics of the art form.

In conclusion, it can be said with certainty that, everyone in that room left with more they came in with, all thanks to our truly wonderful guest, Smt. Minal Prabhu.
