Kautilya 4.0 - National-level Intercollegiate Fest

The Department of Economics at Kristu Jayanti College organized Kautilya 4.0, a highly anticipated National-level Intercollegiate Fest aimed at undergraduate and pre-university students from across the nation. The event was structured to promote not only academic excellence but also the holistic development of participants' personalities.

The event was officially opened with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the enlightenment of knowledge and setting a reflective tone for the day. Dr. K. Vinodha Devi followed with a prelude, introducing the objectives and significance of the fest.

The highlight of the session was the keynote inaugural address by Ms. Ashwini Mrinal Bhagat, Senior Director of Netradyne, Bengaluru, who shared valuable insights with the audience. Fr. Joshy Mathew, Director of the Human Resource Department at Kristu Jayanti College, delivered the presidential address, which was both thought-provoking and inspiring. Father emphasised that event like Kautilya 4.0 promotes values of fairness, integrity, and innovation, ensuring that competition continues to serve as a force for positive change in economy and society.

Kautilya 4.0 featured seven significant events, each designed to engage participants in unique ways. These events challenged students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and present their ideas confidently. Kautilya fostered a comprehensive educational environment through competition. They equipped students with critical skills, promote knowledge application, and create a vibrant community of learners, all of which are instrumental in shaping well-rounded individuals prepared for future challenges.


"Economia 2K24 an Intracollegiate Fest

"Economia 2K24 is an intracollegiate fest held on February 12th, 2024, centred on 'Navigating Progress: Envisioning 2030 with Sustainable Energy Efficiency and Development.' Fr. Joshy Mathew delivered the presidential address, highlighting the significance of youth involvement in sustainable development. Mr. Aashish Philips Benjamin, Business Operation Officer, ANZ, the chief guest, likely shared insights on sustainable energy strategies. The event featured diverse activities, including JAM, quiz, stock market simulations, panel discussions, and economic charades, fostering experiential learning. Participants were encouraged to explore innovative solutions and collaborate on practical initiatives, igniting a passion for responsible decision-making and a collective commitment to building a better tomorrow.

Kautilya 3.0 National-level Inter-collegiate Fest

The Department of Economics, Kristu Jayanthi College organized the much-anticipated event, Kautilya 3.0, a National-level Inter-collegiate Fest, catering to undergraduate and pre-university students nationwide. The highlight of the inaugural session was the inspiring inaugural address by Prof N R Bhanumurthy, Vice Chancellor of Dr. B.R Ambedkar School of Economics University in Bengaluru. Following this, Fr. Jais V Thomas, the Financial Administrator and a faculty member from the Commerce and Management department, delivered a thought-provoking presidential address. Kautilya 3.0 featured five diverse events. Kautilya 3.0 proved to be a dynamic platform for students from diverse backgrounds to showcase their talents and compete at a national level. It was a testament to the college's commitment to fostering intellectual growth and creativity among its students, and it left participants with cherished memories of a spirited and enlightening experience.


Kautilya 2023 Intercollegiate Fest

Department of Economics has organized National Level Inter-Collegiate Fest ‘Kautilya 2023’ for UG and PG students of Economics on the 6th of March. The session began with a welcome speech by Ms. Joshna Sabu, Student, VI Semester BA Economics. Fr. Augustine George, Principal, of Kristu Jayanti College, in his Presidential address advocated for the students to inculcate competencies that are essentials to shape their future. Mr. Ankit Jindal, Intelligence Officer, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, Bengaluru was the resource person. In his inaugural address, the resource person opined that the students will have to work hard to seek a bright future. Kautilya-2023, a hybrid Inter-Collegiate fest consisted of different events namely, Policy Conundrum-The Best Policy Maker, Just a Minute, JAM, Economics Quiz, Debate, and Crisis Management. All the events were conducted by respective faculty and student coordinators and judged by experts. Students from various colleges have actively participated in the events. The program ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Boffin Sunny, a student of First MA Economics.

Economia’ 22 Millenials And Gen Z In 5th Largest Economy

The Department of Economics, Kristujayanti College, (Autonomous) Bangalore, organized a one-day intra-collegiate fest ‘Economia 22’based on the theme ‘Millenials and Gen Z in 5thLargestEconomy ‘on 19th of September 2022 for the Students of UG and PG Economics. The inaugural session was hosted by Ms. Ayeishaani Yadav the presence of God was invoked with a song by the college choir, followed by a welcome speech given by Rebecca Sheron. Ms. Rose Sabu introduced the resource person. The presidential talk was given by Rev. Fr. Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous). The chief guest of the day was Mr. Ajit C Jacob, Rtd. Deputy General Manager of South Indian Bank.

Mr. Ajit C Jacob discussed the impact of education and having the skills required for students to seek job opportunities in the corporate sector. He motivated the students to focus on academics and also on extra-curricular activities to build their resume. Faculty members of the Department of Economics, students from fifth semesters of HEP, JEEng, students of I BA Applied Economics and MA Economics attended the fest. The inaugural session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr.Akash Binu.


Kautilya 2022 Virtual Intercollegiate Fest

Department of Economics has organized a virtual intercollegiate competition “Kautilya 2022” for the Undergraduate students on 29th April. The session began with a welcome speech by Ms. Jomol George, a student of II MA Economics. Prof.Dr.K Gupta, was the resource person. In his inaugural address, the resource person opined that, the students will have to work hard in order to seek a bright future. Kautilya-2022, a Virtual Intercollegiate Competition consisted of different events namely, Krisi-The Best Policy Maker, and Eco Kouiz. Both the events conducted by Ms. Jomol and Ms.Aarya Rajjive, students of II MA Economics, respectively. Dr.Geethu Anna Mathew and Quiz master Mr.VipulKumar were the judges for the events respectively. The students of various colleges have been actively participated in the events conducted. In the event of Krisi-The Best Policy maker, Akshaya of PSGR Krishnammal College secured the first prize, Aarti Gupta of Mount Carmel College got the second prize and Lavanya T of Holy Cross College and Liya Susan Thomas of Assumption College got the consolation prizes. In the event of Eco quiz Akshaya R of PSGR Krishnammal College got the first prize, Pragdeesh J S of Dwaraka Doss Govardhan Doss Vaishnav College secured the second prize and Shameemudin C. K of Farook College got the Consolation Prizes. The Programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr., Joel John a student of Final BA HEP.

Economia 2021

The Department of Economics, Kristu Jayanti College, (Autonomous) Bangalore, organized a one-day Intra collegiate fest ‘Economia 2021’based on the theme ‘Economic Resurgence.’ The chief guest of the day was Dr. SR Keshava, Professor, PG Department of Economics, Bangalore University, Technical Committee Member, Karnataka Evaluation Authority (KEA). Prof. S R Keshava discussed the impact of Covid-19 and how it affected the Indian Economy. He highlighted the Covid-19 effect on agriculture and industry and service sector. He pointed out that due to covid; the middle class has shrunk by 32 million. He concluded by saying that each of us has a role in contributing to the economy and he urged everyone to work honestly for the wellbeing of the country. Faculty members of the Economics department, students from all three semesters of EPsS, HEP, JEEng, and students of MA Economics had attended the fest. The inaugural session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Christy Johnson. The preliminary round started with Let’s talk Economics and was followed by Querencia, Investorama, and Budding Economist. Finally the programme was concluded with a Valedictory function, presided by Rev Fr. Joshy Mathew

Economia 2020

The department of Economics had organized a one day intra collegiate fest ‘Economia 2020’ based on the theme ‘ECO-VID: An opportunity in the pandemic.’ The inaugural session was hosted by Amala George, presence of God was invoked with a song by the college choir, followed by a welcome speech given by Leanne Deborah Thomas. Rahul T Sangma introduced the resource person. The presidential talk was given by Rev. Fr. Lijo. P. Thomas, Financial Administrator, Head Department of Computer Science. The chief guest of the day was Prof. Pravakar Sahoo, Course Director and Head, Indian Economics Service Section, Institute of Economic Growth(IEG), Delhi. Prof. Pravakar Sahoo discussed the challenges which the economy was undergoing during Pandemic. He highlighted the economic measures such as monetary and fiscal measures which will create an immediate impact on the economy to recover from present economic pressure. Prof. Sahoo also highlighted the fluctuation reflected in each sector of the Economy and he connected this scenario with successful economic models. The Economic growth expert also stressed the necessity of knowing the current happenings in economics. Faculty members of the Economics department, students from all three semesters of EPsS, HEP, JEEng, MSE and students of MA Economics had attended the fest. The inaugural session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Akash Shree.

Economia 2019

The Department of Economics of Kristu Jayanti College autonomous conducted its one-day intra collegiate economics fest Economia 2K19 on Friday, 20th September 2019 with the theme Sustainable Development giving special importance to Green Growth. Organized by students of MA Economics and 5th Semester BA HEP. The chief guest for the day was Dr. Anoop Ramachandra, founder, Comportement Software Pvt. Ltd. The inauguration ceremony occurred in Mini Auditorium 3 at 9:15 am and the guest of honour Dr. Anoop Ramachandra officially inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp. The welcome address was given by Ms. Tsulelu Lohe. Inaugural address was delivered by the guest of honour.

The guest talked on various aspects of Sustainable development. Sustainable development meets the present needs without compromising the future. He mentioned that old solutions are not sustainable. Technology is a platform for every domain to emerge as a combining factor. He emphasized the combination of macroeconomics with technology that would be a potent concept. A company can be termed as humane only I it has people with different skills and adapting to changes that a sustainable development demands to fulfil.

Rev.Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Vice-principal Kristu Jayanti College gave the felicitation address and Mr. James Johnson, student coordinator of Economia 2K19 proposed the vote of thanks. There was a photography and poster exhibition organised based on Sustainable Development goals (SDG) in Mini Auditorium 1 as part of the fest and its inauguration occurred at 10:30am by the chief guest Dr. Anoop Ramachandra in the presence of Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Vice-principal Kristu Jayanti College, Dr. Vinodha Devi Faculty coordinator Department of Economics, Prof. Preethi S J G, Faculty coordinator of Economia 2K19. The fest comprised of four events Photography, Poster Presentation, Quiz and Young Economist. The fest came to an end with the Valedictory ceremony at 3:30 pm in the presence of Rev. Fr. Som Zacharia, Director, Library and Information Technology and Infrastructure Development, Dr. Vinodha Devi, faculty coordinator of Department of Economics, Prof. Preethi S J G faculty coordinator of Economia. Welcome address was delivered by Ms. Jelena Dennis, student coordinator of Economics. The winners of the fest were awarded by the guest of honor. Mr. Akshay Chand B S, student coordinator of Department of Economics proposed the Vote of thanks. The session came to an end with the reciting of National Anthem.

Economia 2018
Great Transformation – Indian Economy

Key events in the fest were Quiz, Cases Study, Investigation and Debate. The Chief Guest for the inauguration was Mr. Ashutosh Tripathy, Senior Vice President & Technology Leader Societe Generale, Atal Innovation Mission. He addressed the gathering on the topic of Startup Eco System and their challenges and shared his views to sustain in the business. After a day full of excitement and active participation, fest concluded with prize distribution by Rev.Fr.Josekutty P D, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College.

ECONOMIA 2017
The intra-collegiate economic fest for undergraduate students Economia’17 was organised on September 14-15, 2017. Mr V. Krishnamurthy, Former Bureau Chief, The Hindu inaugurated the fest.

MA Economics students made presentations on various aspects pertaining largely to the topic of Life in the World of 7 billion. They explained the causes and consequences of the population, Population policy, trends in Population etc. in an informative manner. Various events like quiz, Debate, Poster Creation, Case study were conducted during the two-day fest.

Prof. Narayanan V, Strategy Consultant, SIBSTC was the Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony. He shared insights on how the population has to be handled in a productive way.

Intra-collegiate – ECONOMIA
Economia is a One Day Intra Collegiate Economics fest conducted by the Department of Economics, Kristu Jayanti College. The objective of event is to provide experiential learning of various economic concepts in interesting way through activities. It proactively looks into the impact of current and emerging economic policies in ways that advance understanding of the same and critically analyzing their effectiveness.

1. Economia 2017 held on 18th September 2017
Theme: “One in the World of Seven Billion”.
The key events in the fest were Quiz, Debate, Case Study Analysis and Poster competitions. The Chief Guest for the Inauguration was Mr V Krishnamurthy, Former Chief of Bureau, The Hindu. The Guest of Honour for the Valedictory session was Prof V Narayanan, Strategy Consultant, SIBSTC.

2. Economia 2017 held on 2nd March 2017
Theme: “The Recent Economic Initiatives for India’s Growth”.
The key events in the fest were Quiz, Debate, Essay writing and Model making / Poster competitions. The Chief Guest for the Inauguration was Mr Anadi Charan Sahu, General Manager & Regional Head, SIDBI. The Guest of Honour for the Valedictory session was Dr. Malini Lakshminarayan Tantri from ISEC.

The college and its offices will remain closed from 23rd to 25th December 2024 due to end-semester vacation. |
