Digital Learning Week
Date: 02 to 05 September 2024
To commemorate Digital Learning Week from September 2 to 5, 2024, the Department of Forensic Science organized a Digital Learning Quiz open to all forensic science students. The quiz tested knowledge in key digital learning areas such as cybercrime, computer basics, and coding languages. Students from various programs, including B.Sc. Forensic Science, (I and III Semesters), B.Sc. Forensic Science and Biotechnology (I and III Semesters), BSc. Forensic Science Criminology and Biochemistry (I Semester), and M.Sc. Forensic Science, participated in the quiz. With 25 questions and a time limit of 20 minutes, the quiz was designed to deepen students' understanding of digital crime, computing fundamentals, and coding, which are crucial in modern forensic science.
Approximately 600 students took part, demonstrating a strong interest in enhancing their digital literacy. The top-performing students were recognized for their achievements. Overall, the quiz significantly contributed to raising awareness about digital learning and its relevance in forensic science. It aligned with the global objectives of the United Nations' Digital Learning Week, promoting the importance of technology and digital skills in education and preparing students for future challenges in their field.
Anti-Ragging Awareness
Date: 12 to 18 August 2024
The Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) successfully organized Anti-Ragging Week, promoting a zero-tolerance attitude toward ragging on campus. The week-long program was designed to create awareness among students about the serious implications of ragging and foster a safe and inclusive environment.
Various engaging events were organized during the week, including Digital Poster Designing, Slogan Making, and Reel Making Competitions, which saw enthusiastic participation from students across different batches. These creative initiatives provided a platform for students to express their thoughts and ideas on the importance of eradicating ragging in educational institutions.
In addition, final-year B.Sc. students led an impactful awareness campaign aimed at educating first and second-year students about the anti-ragging policies, the importance of mutual respect, and the available support mechanisms for victims. This campaign emphasized the role of every student in creating a harmonious college environment free from fear and harassment.
Through these events, the department reiterated its commitment to ensuring a ragging-free campus, contributing to the holistic development and well-being of every student.
Commemoration of National science day

The Deanery of Sciences at Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous organized a series of events on February 28th, commemorating National Science Day. The overarching theme for this year's celebration was 'Sustainable Future'. The objective was to engage students in exploring and understanding the significance of sustainable practices in shaping our future, particularly in the realm of science and technology.
Trash to Treasure, A 'best out of waste' competition was organized for the first-year B.Sc. Forensic Science students. This activity aimed to foster creativity and environmental consciousness among the participants.
Poster Presentation, Another event targeted at the second-year B.Sc. Forensic Science students, providing them with a platform to showcase their artistic skills while depicting the theme of sustainability.
Green Energy Clash, Debate Competition:third-year B.Sc. Forensic Science students engaged in a debate competition focusing on various aspects of green energy. This event encouraged critical thinking and discourse on renewable energy solutions.
Guest Lecture on Arson Investigation, A guest lecture was conducted for M.Sc. first and second students, featuring Mr. Sandeep Gujar as the resource person. The lecture delved into the intricacies of arson investigation, enriching the students' understanding of forensic science.All events were meticulously organized and executed by both postgraduate and undergraduate students under the guidance and supervision of faculty members. This collaborative effort ensured the smooth conduct of the activities and provided students with hands-on experience in event management and coordination.
Commemoration 75th Republic Day

The Department of Forensic Science celebrated the 75th Republic Day by organizing a Logo Making Competition for the departmental magazine, "Aequitas." The competition aimed to engage the creative talents of students and commemorate this significant national event in a unique and artistic manner. The primary objective of the Logo Making Competition was to provide students with a platform to showcase their artistic skills and contribute to the visual identity of the department's magazine. The theme of the competition was centered on the essence of forensic science, justice, and the spirit of the 75th Republic Day. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various academic levels within the Department of Forensic Science. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students eagerly took part in the event, showcasing their creativity and passion for graphic design.
Anti-Ragging Awareness Week

The Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, recently marked the Anti-Raging Week with a plethora of engaging activities, showcasing their commitment to fostering awareness and promoting a culture of peace and understanding. The week-long celebration, culminating on August 17, 2023, featured a range of competitions designed to educate and empower students in a unique and interactive way.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the Poster Making Competition, a collaborative group event that saw the enthusiastic participation of 18 groups, each comprised of three talented students. The theme of the competition revolved around addressing and combatting societal rage, with each group channeling their creativity to visually express powerful messages.
The Slogan Writing, Logo Making, and Essay Writing Competitions, held as part of the festivities, provided students with additional avenues to articulate their thoughts on the importance of maintaining calm and composure in today's fast-paced world. These competitions not only encouraged individual expression but also allowed students to delve deeper into the psychological and societal aspects of rage.
The events provided a platform for students to engage in meaningful discussions, share perspectives, and creatively express their insights on mitigating rage in society. By combining artistic expression with academic discourse, the Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College continues to prepare students not only as skilled forensic professionals but also as socially aware and responsible citizens.
76th anniversary of India's Independence Day
The Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore, celebrated the 76th anniversary of India's Independence Day by organizing a unique bookmark making competition. This competition aimed to commemorate India's struggle for freedom, foster a sense of patriotism, and engage BSc Forensic Science students in creative expressions of historical significance. The competition's theme revolved around "Indian Independence, Freedom Struggle, and Patriotism." This theme was carefully chosen to encourage participants to reflect on India's journey to freedom and to express their patriotic sentiments through art. BSc Forensic Science students from various semesters enthusiastically participated in the competition. The event garnered participation from 22 talented students who displayed their creativity and passion for history. Participants demonstrated their artistic skills by crafting bookmarks that depicted key moments from India's freedom struggle, iconic leaders, national symbols, and patriotic themes. Their creations were both visually appealing and thought-provoking. The bookmarks were judged and the best three bookmarks were awarded.
Essay competition on ‘Constitutional Obligations’ to commemorate Republic day 2023

In commemoration of Republic Day 2023, the Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous organized an essay competition titled ‘Constitutional Obligations’ for the students belonging to the department. The call for participation was circulated on 12th January 2023. The rules of the contest were to write an essay on ‘constitutional obligations’ in English language with a word limit of 800 – 1500 words. The essay would be judged for content, coverage of theme, originality, grammar and presentation. There should be structural coherence
Students from the department of Forensic Science participated in the event enthusiastically with fervour and submitted their creations. The essays were judged by a panel of two members. The winners were awarded certificates and congratulated by the Coordinator of the department, Prof. Don Caeiro. The first prize winning essay would also be published in the upcoming issue of Veritas, the forensic science newsletter of the department.
The essay competition created a sense of patriotism and belonging among the students of the department. The students provided positive feedback as to how the event helped them understand the constitutional values and how to uphold them as citizens.

Poster Competition to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of Indian Independence)
Date 12th to 19th August 2022
In tune with ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ a GoI initiative, the Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous organized a poster competition for the students belonging to the department. The call for posters was circulated on 12th August 2022. The rules of the contest were to create a poster on chart paper using fingerprints and palm prints, to have relevance to Forensic Science. The theme of the competition was the Indian Independence movement, freedom struggle and the progress India has made in the 75 years of independence.
Students from the department of Forensic Science participated in the event enthusiastically with fervor and submitted their creations. The posters were displayed in the Forensic Science Laboratory 2, third floor, main block on 19th August 2022. The Principal, Kristu Jayanti College, Rev. Dr. Augustine George graced the event with his presence. The dean, Faculty of Science, Dr. Calistus Jude A L and the faculty members of the department along with the participant students highlighted the meaning of the posters, the learning points from the activity and the impact it had on their sense of patriotism. Students and faculty members of Kristu Jayanti College visited the venue and witnessed the posters created by the students. The posters were judged and the best three posters were awarded.
