National Symposium Crime Scene to Court 2024

The National Symposium on "Crime Scene to Court," organized by the Department of Forensic Science at Kristu Jayanti College on 10th October 2024, was a resounding success. Bringing together 40 delegates from 10 esteemed institutions, including students and working professionals, the event served as a platform to discuss the critical role of forensic science in the justice system.

The symposium featured a series of insightful presentations by esteemed experts:
• Shri. Yashwanth Kumar, DySP, Crime Investigation Department (CID), Cyber Crime Division, Bengaluru, presented on "Crime Scene: Its Importance in Court Trials," highlighting how meticulous crime scene investigations play a crucial role in building a strong case for trial.
• Shri. Mahesh V. Vaidya, Legal Advisor, Crime Investigation Department (CID), shared valuable insights into "Appreciation of Evidence in Court," focusing on the legal intricacies of presenting forensic evidence and its evaluation by the court.
• Dr. Dileepkumar K B, Associate Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, discussed the "Importance of Autopsy Reports in Court," emphasizing how autopsy findings contribute to understanding the cause of death and strengthening medico-legal cases.
• Dr. Deepak V. C., Director and Faculty in charge, Department of Forensic Dentistry, M R Ambedkar Dental College, explored the "Importance of Forensic Odontology in Court Trials," detailing how dental evidence aids in personal identification and criminal investigations.
The symposium also witnessed 26 poster presentations on various research areas and three papers were awarded as best poster presentation award judged by the Panel Judges-Dr. Deepak V and Dr. Manjunath MS.

The event fostered valuable discussions and provided an excellent networking opportunity, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between forensic scientists, law enforcement, and legal professionals. The symposium concluded with a shared commitment to improving practices in crime investigation and court processes.
