Value-added courses are those courses designed to enhance the standard of the students beyond those levels specified in academic curriculum. In order to enhance employability of the students value added courses are included in the curriculum. Value-added courses are conducted by the faculty members of the department or interfacing with the industry to bridge the gap between the curriculum and the requirements of the industry.
Value Added Course
Date: 18th to 22nd, 26th & 27th March 2024
The Department of Computer Science (PG) organized a Value Added Course (VAC) on Professional Skills and Universal Human Values Programming Basic, Excel, Graphic Designing, and Universal Human Values (UHV) from 18th _ 22 nd , 26th & 27th March 2024 from 01.00 pm to 4.30 pm in the Class Room No : 105, I Floor &Computer Lab P2 II Floor, PG Block for the benefits of I Semester MCA C & D (PGCET Batch). The main objective of the sessions was to get the students thorough with the basics of Excel, Programming Basics, and Graphics design and help the students see the need for developing a holistic perspective of life through Universal Human Value (UHV). 42 students (19 from I M.C.A C, 23 from- I M.C.A D) attended the 21-hour VAC. In Excel, data recording, formulas such as sum, average, count, min/max, etc., mathematical functions, text functions, logical conditions, charts and graphs, data organization, and pivot tables were the major contents taught.
In graphic design, we cover the basics of presentation design like visual hierarchy, typography, color, details, and slide layouts and introduce Photoshop skills like layers, combining images, adding text and effects, etc.
Universal Human Values cover life skills, self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, effective communication, interpersonal relationships, coping with stress, and coping with emotion. Universal human value also had a game section. In programming basics, Introduction to C programming, Statements in C, C programming aptitude, Variable and Array declaration.

Programming Basic, Excel, Graphic Designing, and Universal Human Values (UHV) from 23rd to 30th August 2022 from 09.00 am to 3.30 pm in Lecture Hall 405, IV Floor, PG Block for the benefits of I Semester MCA & MSC Students. . The main objective of the sessions was to get the students thorough with the basics of Excel, Programming Basics, and Graphics Designing and help the students to see the need for developing a holistic perspective of life through Universal Human Value (UHV). 104 students (75 from I MCA & 29 from I MSC) attended the 30-Hours VAC. The resource persons for the VAC sessions were Dr. Rajitha M, Dr. Arunadevi K, Dr. Velmurugan R, and Dr. Muruganantham A.

Value Added Course
Department of Computer Science (PG) conducted Value Added Courses (VAC) from 03/08/20 to 14/08/20 for V Sem MCA and III Sem MCA/MSc students.
The III MCA/MSc (CS) students completed the course- Data Analytics tools - I which had Advanced Analytics using MS Excel and Power BI.
The V Semester MCA students completed the course – Data Analytics tools - II which consists of MATLAB and Tableau software’s.
In Data Analytics tools – I - Advanced analytics using MS Excel and exposure to Power BI was provided. Basics of MS Excel, Data handling and Decision making using what-if analysis, Power Pivots, Advanced macros, Interactive dash boards, Power BI, Components of Power BI, Importing Data, Transformations, Modelling, Visualization, DAX, Sharing and Publishing Reports etc., were the major contents taught.
13 students of MSc (CS) and 36 students of III MCA were the beneficiaries
In Data Analytics tools - II - A detailed introduction to MATLAB and Tableau which covered Tableau Foundations, the cycle of analytics, working with metadata and data blending, Data files in MATLAB, Data types Basic Mathematical operations in MATLAB; Logical Operations on matrix; Plots: Image Processing etc., with MATLAB were taught.
59 students of V MCA students gained knowledge and hands-on experience in both the MATLAB and Tableau.
The VAC programmes provided an excellent learning experience to the students on the data analytic tools which are prevalent in the industry.
