The Department of Computer Science (PG) organizes the following fests to enhance the skills of the students:

SHELLS 2023 is a National Level Inter-Collegiate IT Fest
Date: 25 January 2023
SHELLS 2023 is a National Level Inter-Collegiate IT Fest organized by the department of Computer Science [PG], where technology and accomplishments come together in a one-day extravaganza. It was an opportunity for students to showcase their abilities and technical expertise while discovering their inner potential. It featured a diverse range of technical and non-technical events, which were designed to challenge and test the participants' skills, knowledge, and creativity across various domains such as coding, problem-solving, and innovation. Shells 2023 showcased the latest trends, innovations, and advancements in the field of Information Technology. It has presented a range of events such as IT Manager, IT Quiz/Debate, Coding/Debugging, Designing(UI/Web), Gaming, Photography/Videography, Vlogging, Capture the Flag, and Product Launch.

The theme of the Fest was TECHNOLOGIE FUTURISTA with the tagline adapting future technology.

The Chief Guest was Mr. Girirajan, Senior Director, North America Delivery, Hewlett Packard, Bengaluru


Manoeuvre 2022- Intra collegiate IT fest by the Department of Computer Science PG
Date: 30 September 2022
The Department of Computer Science PG organised ‘Manoeuvre 2022’ an Intra collegiate IT fest with the theme Retro IT on 30th September 2022 at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru. The Department has been hosting the fest Manoeuvre, which signifies skilful action, for 14 years with the goal to encourage students to learn, develop, and cherish. Aspiring programmers treasure and fondly appreciate the foundations of IT sectors. So this year's fest has the theme "Retro IT" and the slogan "Cherishing the Genesis," which together represent a harmonic fusion of the past, present, and future.

Mr Jophy Varghese, APAC Head, SIs and Strategic Alliances Verizon, Bengaluru, in his inaugural address discussed the key technological advancements like Artificial intelligence (AI), the adoption of Low-code development platforms (LCDPs) as well as No-code development platforms (NCDPs), and the management of 5G networks. He highlighted the value of having cyber security as well as the relevance of a sustainable energy solution, which is a crucial mantra for all businesses and governments around the globe. The keynote speaker also emphasised the value of networking and collaborating in the business sector by exhibiting talent through various platforms. Rev. Fr. Dr Augustine George gave the presidential address and inaugurated the promotion event of Manoeuvre 2022 with the entire Computer Science PG department. Dr. Aruna Devi K was the Faculty coordinator of the fest and Mr Arjun G K, Ms Merlin Reji, Ms Sahana C N & Ms Babita Sharma were the student coordinators of the event. The students of strength 105, were made into 8 teams named Osborne, Pegasus, Colossus, Mackintosh, Whirlwind, Zuse, Prometheus, and Maddida and there were totally ten events conducted to test the technological acumen of the participants. They include - Web Designing, Coding, IT Quiz, Photo and Videography, Short film making, Product launch, Gaming, Extempore, Treasure hunt and IT Manager. The events commenced from 19 September, 2022.

The valedictory ceremony had Fr. Joshy Mathew, Director, Library and Information Centre, Head, Department of English as the chief guest. The event results were announced by the student coordinators and the prizes were distributed by Fr. Joshy Mathew, Dr. Calistus Jude – Dean of Sciences, D. Kumar R, HoD and Dr. Aruna Devi K. Team Prometheus won the Overall Winners Trophy and Team Zuse took second place. “We all learnt to bring out our skills and participate no matter what the outcomes would be,” opined Amith Paul from the first year MCA A batch of Kristu Jayanti College.

The students benefited from this engagement in that they were able to showcase their abilities and learn about how technology is advancing in modern society.

Shells - National Intercollegiate IT fest
The 15th Edition of the National Intercollegiate IT fest of the Department of Computer Science (PG) was held on 25th May 2022. This event provides a platform to exhibit technological expertise, it is a fusion of technology and accomplishments. This fest aims at discovering students’ inner potential. The events for the fest include Web Designing, Coding, IT Manager, IT Quiz, Tech-talk and product launch.

Mrs. Shreya Srikanth Director of Planning and supply chain at the Bay, Hudson’s Bay company Bengaluru, was the chief guest for the inauguration ceremony. The Participants were Post graduate Computer Science students from different colleges across India.


Manoeuvre 2021 Intracollegiate IT Fest
Date: 19 November 2021
"Manoeuvre 2021" is an intra-collegiate IT fest organized by the department of Computer Science [PG] for the first and second year students by the third year students where they get an opportunity to organize the fest with an enthusiastic and innovative spirit .The First and Second year students of the department were grouped into seven teams- Snowden, Galaxy3, Torlinks, Securedrop, Icerocket,Whonix and Techphantom.

These seven teams competed against each other in the following events:IT Manager, Coding and Debugging, Gaming, Idea Hunt, Designing, Treasure Hunt, Icebreaker,Videography and Photography.

The registration process was completely digital and the department witnessed a remarkable number of registrations. The preliminary rounds of Manouver were held from November 12th 2021 and spanned for a week which culminated on 19th November 2021 with final round of IT Manager and Idea hunt. The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Mr.Noushad, CEO and International Business Development Consultant, Anbieter, Bengaluru, India. Mr.Noushad, in his speech, emphasized the relevance to equip with trending Industry-oriented skills to be more competent and employable. The enthusiastic and energetic participation of the students contributed to the overall success of Manouver 2021. The overall winners were Techphantom and runners up were Icerocket.

Manoeuvre 2K20 – Intra Collegiate Fest
Department of Computer Science (PG) organised its annual intra-collegiate IT fest- Manoeuvre on 20th November 2020. It was organised by the final year students of MCA and I and II year MCA and MSc (Computer Science) students were the participants. Each year it is organised on various themes relevant for the time.

This year the Intra-collegiate - IT fest MANOEUVRE 2020 was scheduled on 20th November 2020 with the theme “5G” and the tagline ‘Resilience with Technology’

The theme is very relevant to today’s world as we are making great progress using the advancements of 5G. The tagline adopted for the fest represents the use of technology to learn and do more while battling the current pandemic.

The competitions for the Ist and IInd year MCA and M.Sc. (Computer Science) students was organised by the final year students of MCA. There were nine events to test the technological acumen of the participants. They included- Web Designing, coding, IT Quiz, App development, Photo and Videography, Short film making, Product launch, Treasure hunt and IT Manager. The prelims of most of the events were held on various dates between 2nd Nov and 19th Nov. On November 20th, 2020, we had the final rounds. The Staff Coordinator was Dr. Jyothi Manoj and the Student Coordinators were Mr. Sanoop Devassia and Ms. Mini Mariam Varghese (V Sem MCA). 7 teams from I year and 2nd year MCA and MSc students competed against each other.

The Inaugural ceremony was held at 9 am on 20th Nov 2020. The Inaugural Chief Guest was Prof. D Janakiram, Head and Professor, Dept CSE, IIT, Madras. In the inaugural address he mentioned the significance of competitions in a student’s life and how hackathons and software development events are helpful in providing students with a great learning experience. He also motivated the department to start Atal Thinking Lab for Technical students. Principal, Rev. Dr. Augustine appreciated the fest organisers and the participants for their enthusiastic participation in his presidential address.

The valedictory session was held at 3.30pm. Financial administrator and Head, Department of Computer Science (UG) gave the valedictory address. Dr. R Kumar, Head, department of Computer Science (PG) felicitated the organisers and the participants.

Mr. Nikhil Hari of IInd year MSc and Mr. Mahato Niteesh Kumar of IInd year MCA, won the title “Star of Manoeuver 2020”. The Overall winners was Verizons and Runners up: Fifth Genesis

Inter Collegiate Fest: Shells 2020
The 14th Edition of the National level Intercollegiate IT fest of the Department of Computer Science (PG) was held on 27th February 2020. This event provides a platform to exhibit technological expertise, it is a fusion of technology and accomplishments. This fest aims at discovering students inner potential. The theme of the Shells 2020 is “Connect, Analyze and Act”. The programmes for the fest includes Web Designing, Coding, IT Manager, IT Quiz, Gaming, photography/video making and Treasure Hunt. Mr. Vivek Singhal Co-founder and Chief Data Scientist, Cellstrat Bengaluru, inaugurated the Fest on February 27, 2020 at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Vivek Singhal is an entrepreneur, a thought leader in start-up communities and MNCs with an experience in telecom and digital industries. He talked about his experiences and challenges in life. He also mentioned about the challenges of e_ commerce. He said that “Start-ups give learning and enriching experience, our ecosystem is friendly for starting start-ups”.” We can make a product easily with the advancement of technology”, he said. He stated that start ups should emerge from India and it should become the authentic Google of India. “Learn to be relevant, the moment we stop learning we will become obsolete”, He quoted. “Technology will change, therefore focus on deep _tech skills like block chain”, he added. He further said that India is lagging behind China and other countries, therefore India should catch up with new areas and new areas need research requirements. “The world is dominated by big tech companies, they have power and control over everything. They have all the data that will impact public and social life. Companies inspire us but they have control over us, therefore start-ups should be encouraged” he pointed out. He also emphasized the importance of mathematics and said that “Bangalore is the new silicon valley of the world”. “When we have technological innovations, we are doing national service”, he added. The audience were Computer Science students from different colleges. There were 120 participants from 10 colleges from different states of South India. There was a tight competition for all the events. An IOT project development event was planned and materialized by Mr. Nishant Krishna of IEEE.

The valedictory ceremony had Fr. Som Zacharia, Library and Infrastructure Development Director was the valedictory chief guest. Dr. R Kumar appreciated the participants and the organisers. Student coordinator, Ms. Neha Price proposed the Vote of thanks

For the event coding, the company Data Semantics gave placement offer. Three winners were given internship offer since the winners were in their second year of study and has one more year for course completion. The overall winners were Christ University, Bangalore and runners up were St. Josephs Engineering College, Mangalore.


Manoeuvre 2019 - Intra-collegiate Fest

Manoeuvre, the intra-collegiate fest is a flagship event of the Department of Computer Science (PG). It is organised by the final year students of MCA and I and II year students are the participants. Each year it is organised on various themes relevant for the time; this academic year the theme was Bionics- the science of integrating Technology into everyday life.

Each year the Manoeuvre is organised on a respective theme relevant for the time; this academic year the theme is Dark web. There are 10 exciting events which include - IT manager, IT Quiz, Coding, Web designing, Multimedia, Gaming, Tech monologue, Event X, Google I and Treasure Hunt is been conducted with respect to the theme. Ms. Rashmi C and Mr. Sam Thomas of 5th Sem MCA are the student coordinators and Prof. Aruna Devi is the Faculty coordinator for this edition of Manoeuvre. The prelims round were held between 17th September 2019 – to 23rd September 2019.

On the final day 24th September 2019, as chief guest Mr. Pradeepta Mishra, Director AI, LYMBYC, Bengaluru was present. The presidential address was given by Vice-Principal Fr. Augustine George. In the inaugural address, the chief guest listed out the various innovative case studies in which Artificial intelligence and data analytics plays key role. He also explained the students about the need to acquire knowledge and skills in various dimensions since artificial intelligence require awareness in all areas for appropriate application. The current issue of Technobytes- the biannual newsletter of the Department of Computer Science (PG) was released during the ceremony. Promotions were held in the PG Block quadrangle on 24th September 2019 after the inauguration.

During the valedictory ceremony, Dr. R Kumar, Head, Department of Computer Science (PG) gave his observations and a brief review of the fest. He felicitated the student coordinators of each event and committee as they have done their task effectively. Rev. Fr. Lijo P Thomas, Financial Administrator and Head, Department of Computer Science appreciated the participants and organizers and also distributed the prizes to the winners. The student editors of Technobytes Mr. Ajith kumar G and his team, and the staff editor, Prof. Vani Chakraborthy were also appreciated during the session.

Inter Collegiate Fest: Shells 2019
The 13th edition of the National Level Inter-Collegiate IT Fest conducted by the Department of Computer Science (PG) – SHELLS 2K19 was held on 26th and 27th of February 2019.

The Inaugural ceremony was held on 26th February 2019. Mr. Pavankumar PVN, Director- IOT Product Development SAP LABS India was the chief guest, who gave the inaugural address on the topic of “Make Thought Leadership your Identity”. Mr. Daniel Paul, Student Coordinator welcomed the gathering and gave the prelude to Shells 2K19. Rev. Fr. Josekutty PD, Principal gave the Presidential address and the ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks given by Ms. Nida, Student of IV MCA.

After the inauguration the campus witnessed the grand promotion of the event. The students portrayed a technical extravaganza of a self-solving puzzle driven by AI algorithm that brought the shape of the shells logo. 165 talented participants from 17 colleges from different parts of the nation participated and show cased a healthy competition. The theme for Shells 2K17 is “Acuminate Intelligence – Accelerated by Artificial Intelligence”. There were 10 exciting events that fascinated the participants which include Coding, IT Manager, Web Designing, IT Quiz, Gaming, Multimedia, Treasure Hunt, Google I, Tech Monologue and Event-X. Different committees were formed such as Designing, invitation, promotion, Onstage, Offstage, Escort, Control room, Registration, Venue management etc. under the guidance of faculty members of the Department. Yet another attraction of shells was the fascinating event coding for which the winners were awarded with a job offer from Data Semantics, one of the best IT firms in Bengaluru. Ms. Pratiksha Michael, Chief People Officer, Data Semantics and her team conducted the selection process in the campus.

Ms. Pratiksha Michael was the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony. The winners and runners of all the events were honored with cash prizes, certificates and Mementos during this ceremony. Students of St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Mangaluru clinched the overall trophy and St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru was declared the runners up.

The student coordinators Mr. Daniel Paul and Ms. Swapna of IV Sem MCA did a commanding job in bringing this edition of the Shells to reality. They meticulously planned all the events from the inception to the successful culmination of the fest.


Intra Collegiate Fest: Manoeuvre- 2018
Manoeuvre, the intra-collegiate fest is a flagship event of the Department of Computer Science (PG). It is organised by the final year students of MCA and I and II year students are the participants. There were 10 events organised- IT Quiz, Ultimate warriors, IT Parliament, Tech Rangers, Coding, Treasure Hunt, Web Designing, Gaming, Futuristic Ad, and IT Manager. The prelim round were held between 20th September – to 25th September 2018. Promotions were held in the PG Block quadrangle on 25th September 2018

On the final day 26th September 2018, as chief guest Dr. SriRam Kothapalli, Entrepreneurial Partner for Concept QA Labs, Global Head for Six Sigma Consulting was present. The presidential address was given by Vice-Principal Fr. Augustine George. In the inaugural address, the chief guest emphasized on the need to acquire knowledge and skills in various dimensions since artificial intelligence require awareness in all areas for appropriate application.

During the valedictory ceremony, Dr. R. Kumar, Head, Department of Computer Science (PG) gave his observations and a brief review of the fest. Principal Rev Fr. Intra-college Fest
MANOEUVRE 2017, an intra-collegiate IT fest was organized by the Department of MCA was inaugurated by Mr. Sagar Koparkar, Principal Consultant, Data Semantics, Bangalore on 27th September 2017.

The 11th edition of the National Level IT Fest ‘was inaugurated by Mr. Sivan Menon, CTO, GE organized by the Department of Computer Science (PG) was held on 2nd and 3rd February 2017.

About 105 talented participants from 11 colleges who registered and show cased a healthy competition. The theme for Shells 2K17 is “CHATBOTS” that is based on Augmented Reality and Tagline as “INNOVATING WITH INTELLIGENT INTERFACES”. There are 10 exciting events that will fascinate the students from various colleges which include Coding, IT Manager, Web Designing, IT Quiz, IT Tycoon, Gaming, Networks, Multimedia, Treasure Hunt and Event-X.

Intra-college Fest
The intra-college fest for MCA students was organized by the Department of MCA was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjoe Tom Jose, CEO Talview, Bangalore and said the need for software professional to be updated with the industry changes and developments on 23rd September 2016.

The theme was ‘Wear-ons’ with tagline ‘digital you’. There were 10 events – Web Designing, Coding, IT Quiz, Junk Yard, Entrepreneurship, Treasure Hunt, Gaming, Short Film, News hunt and IT manager.

SHELLS 2016
The tenth edition of the National Level IT Fest “SHELLS 2016” was organized by the Department of MCA on 18th and 19th of February 2016. Shri. Siddharth Shankar Agarwal, Vice President- Engineering, Zapr Media Labs was the chief guest. Fr. Augustine George, the Vice Principal was also present.

The theme for Shells 2K16 was “LI-FI” (light fidelity) that is based on wireless optical networking technology that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for data transmission with a Tagline “Spearhead of Imminent Aeon. There were 10 fascinating events which helped the participants to showcase their talents.

Manoeuvre- 2015
Manoeuvre is an Intra-Collegiate IT fest was organized by the department of MCA was inaugurated by Dr. C M Ananda, Head, Aerospace Electronics and System Division, National Aeronautics Limited on 23 September 2015.

The chief guest in his inaugural address stressed the importance of being creative and innovative by sharing a few real time examples. The events conducted were IT Quiz, Brain Intellii, Toggle and Jam and IT Manager.

Mr. Mathews Abraham, General Manager and Head HR – Shared Services, Wipro Ltd was the chief guest for the Valedictory program.

Manoeuvre- 2014
The Intra-college fest Manoeuvre- 2014 by MCA department was inaugurated by Mr. Mandar Chitale, Global Head, Customer Lab & Partner Technical Programs, Office of Customer Programs, Hewlett Packard, India Software Operations Pvt. Ltd on 12th September 2014.

Mr. Chitale reflected the need for following one’s passion to have job satisfaction. He shared the upcoming trends where MCA students need to focus and coined a word SMAC- S for Security, M- for Mobility, A – for Analytics and C for Cloud .

Fr. Augustine George, Vice Principal in his address stressed on the need of the students to keep them updated with day to- day changes which may be called revolution itself.

SHELLS 2014 - Two day National level I T Fest
The eight edition of two day National level IT fest “Shells 2014” was organized by the department of MCA was inaugurated by Shri Harmeet Kochchar Singh, Director, Oracle Managed Cloud, Oracle, India on 20th March 2014.

There were 10 events- IT quiz, IT manager, Web designing, Product launch, Photography, Gaming, Dumb charades, Coding, Treasure hunt and Video editing. The coding event was noticeably special since the winner is offered placement by UST Global.

Mr. Ranjit B Anand - Director - Solutions Delivery - Boston Technology Corporation was the chief guest and the officials from UST global …Mr. Sanjay Parambath HR manager as Guest of honour for the valedictory program.

Bangalore Institute of Technology turned up as the Runners Up St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore were the Overall Winners. Mr. Vikesh B K of Acharya Institute of Management secured the placement offer in UST Global as he won the first place in Coding Event. All the first place winners were given a cash prize also along with the trophy and certificate.

Fr. Sebastian T A , Principal, Fr. Jose P.J, Financial Administrator, Fr. Augustine George, Dean of Sciences were also present.

MANOEUVRE 2013
MANOEUVRE 2013, an intra-collegiate IT fest organized by the department of MCA was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Finney J George, Senior Manager, Altisource, Bangalore on 29 October 2013.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian T.A welcomed the gathering. Mr. Finney J George said that the future trends are Technologies like Cloud computing, Big Data, Social and Mobility opportunities for students.

Tag line for Manoeuvre is “Envision the Instauration”. There were 10 events selected like IT Manager, Quiz, Software Launch, Web Designing, Coding and debugging, Tech and Non-Tech etc.,

SHELLS-2013
The department of MCA of Kristu Jayanti College organized an all-India National Level IT fest “SHELLS-13” was inaugurated by Shri. L.V. Sridhar, Senior Vice President, and Head Asia Delivery, NIIT Technologies, Bangalore on 22 and 23 February 2013.

Shri. L.V. Sridhar highlighted the various job opportunities in IT fields and use of various new IT technologies used in day to day life.

This esteemed event showcases the talent of 188 students from 27 colleges participated from various colleges who competed for excellence. The overall winners were bagged by Christ College and runners were St. Joseph’s College, Mangalore. First Prize winners of all the events were awarded with cash prizes. Shri Sundar Rajan, Director, HR, Schneider Electric India was the chief guest for the valedictory function, Shr I MohinishVaidya, Head, Performance Management, UST Global India graced the occasion and gave away the job offer for the winners of the Coding Event.

MANOEUVRE 2012
MANOEUVRE 2012, an intra-collegiate IT fest, was organized by the MCA department on 16th November, 2012 The Events conducted are: Ice Breaking, Best IT Manager, Toggle and Jam, Treasure Hunt, Debugging and Coding, IT Quiz, Gaming, Web Site Development, Movie direction, Software Launch, Lecture Contest, Dumb Charades.

MANOEUVRE is organized with an intention to prepare the students to organize the All India level Intercollegiate IT fest Shells. The fest is organized by the final year students, and the 1st and 2nd year students participated in the various events of MANOEUVRE 2012.

The college and its offices will remain closed from 23rd to 25th December 2024 due to end-semester vacation. |
