Student-Led Training Programme on Digital Literacy and wellbeing
Date: 12 November 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, in collaboration with St. Michael’s High School, Bangalore, organized a student-led training programme titled “Digital Literacy and Wellbeing” on November 12, 2025. A total of 280+ students from Classes 8, 9, to 10, with enthusiastic participation and engagement throughout the training.

The objective of the programme was to create awareness among school students about maintaining a healthy digital lifestyle, understanding the importance of balanced screen time, and using technology responsibly and meaningfully. The session highlighted the concept of Digital well-being, the mindful, safe, and purposeful use of digital devices such as smartphones, laptops, and social media platforms.

The facilitators discussed the growing concerns related to excessive screen time, cyber safety, and digital addiction. They emphasized how prolonged exposure to screens can affect students’ mental health, academic focus, sleep cycle, and interpersonal relationships. Practical strategies for managing digital habits such as setting time limits, digital detox routines, and prioritizing offline activities were shared to help students build a balanced approach to technology.

An engaging activity was also conducted at the beginning of the session, where students enthusiastically participated and reflected on their daily screen time habits. This helped create an interactive and open environment for discussion.

The interactive session was effectively facilitated by Mr. Able Basalel Sajan, Mr. Alan Tom, and Mr. Nikhil Ghatani, II MSW students, who provided valuable insights and encouraged students to use digital platforms for learning, creativity, and social impact while ensuring their mental and emotional well-being.


Student-Led Training Programme on Techniques for Stress Management
Date: 11 November 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, organized a student-led training programme titled “Techniques for Stress Management: Control Stress Before It Controls You” on November 11, 2025 for the students of New Millennium School. A total of 80 students from Class 8 and Class 9 actively participated in the session, which aimed to create awareness about stress, its impact, and simple coping techniques for better emotional and academic well-being.

The session gave students a clear idea of what stress is, the common causes of stress during school life, and how it can affect mood, concentration, and health. The facilitators explained simple and practical techniques that students can use daily, such as deep breathing, grounding exercises, better study planning, and maintaining a healthy routine. Students were encouraged to recognize early signs of stress, manage their time effectively, reduce overthinking, and balance academics with rest and leisure. The session also highlighted the importance of good sleep, staying active, limiting screen time, and talking to trusted adults when they feel overwhelmed.

The interactive session was facilitated by Mr. Akash Mathew, Ms. Fathima Hannath, and Mr.Samuel J, II MSW students, who shared insightful and practical approaches to managing stress and staying emotionally strong. The training enabled students to understand the importance of addressing stress early and using positive techniques to stay calm, focused, and confident.


Developing a Balanced Mindset: Gratitude and Discipline
Date: 10 November 2025
On November 10, 2025, the II Year MSW students of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) conducted a student-led school training program titled “Developing a Balanced Mindset: Gratitude and Discipline.” The session was held at Tiny World English Medium School from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m

The main objective of the session was to help students understand the importance of gratitude and discipline in daily life. The session focused on how being thankful helps us stay positive and kind, and how discipline helps us stay focused and responsible.

A total of 30 students from Classes 6 and 7 took part in the program. The students were very active and interested throughout the session. One of the activities included sharing who they are grateful for and why, which made the students think and express their feelings.

The session was led by Joyce I, Badashisha Ranee, and Ankita Bharali. Their interactive and friendly way of teaching made the session enjoyable and easy to understand.

The program ended successfully with positive feedback from the school teachers. The students learned how practicing gratitude and discipline can help them build a balanced and happy mindset.


Student-Led Training Programme on Path to Confident and Effective Communication at St. Mary’s School & Composite PU College
Date: 07 November 2025
On November 7, 2025, MSW students Ms. Amala Joseph, Ms. Keziya Elsa Sam, and Ms. Feba Susan George of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) organized a student-led seminar at St. Mary’s School & Composite PU College. The session, titled “Path to Confident and Effective Communication,” engaged 52 students through interactive discussions and activities that enhanced communication skills, self-confidence, and active listening.

The facilitators guided students in understanding verbal and non-verbal communication, stage presence, and overcoming hesitation while speaking. The session concluded with a short reflection where students shared their learnings. This initiative provided an enriching experience for both facilitators and participants, promoting self-expression and effective communication among young learners.


Student-Led Training Programme on Aim High: Goal Setting Strategies
Date: 06 November 2025
In an effort to inspire young minds to dream big and work with purpose, MSW students Ms.Aishwarya Babu, Ms. Adithya Theres Dominic, and Ms. Hanna Ann Koshy from the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, conducted a student-led seminar on the topic “Aim High: Goal Setting Strategies” for the students of Sumangali Seva Ashram School, Hebbal on 06th November 2025.

The session aimed to help students understand the importance of setting realistic goals, nurturing self-motivation, and developing strategic approaches to achieve their aspirations. Through engaging activities, interactive discussions, and motivational exercises, the facilitators encouraged students to reflect on their personal dreams and map out steps toward achieving them. The session emphasized the power of focus, perseverance, and positive mindset in personal growth.

The seminar concluded on an inspiring note, with students expressing renewed enthusiasm and confidence to pursue their goals with determination and clarity, marking it as a meaningful and empowering learning experience.


Student-Led Training Programme on Young Changemakers: Exploring the 17 SDG Goals

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, in collaboration with Bishop Sargent High School , Bangalore conducted a training programme titled Young Changemakers: Exploring the 17 SDG Goals,” on 5th November 2025 for 8thgrade students at Bishop Sargent High School, Bangalore. It introduced students to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The objective of the “Young Changemakers: Exploring the 17 SDG Goals” program was to introduce students to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspire them to take small, positive actions in their daily lives to contribute to social and environmental betterment. It aimed to raise awareness among young people about global challenges and empower them to become responsible citizens who can make a meaningful impact in their communities through simple, sustainable habits.

The facilitators of the “Young Changemakers: Exploring the 17 SDG Goals” program were Ms. Soubia Syed, Ms. Jessie Mary Pale, and Ms. Shalina Jamatia, who are students of the III MSW program at Kristu Jayanti University.


Student-Led Training Programme on Judicious Use of Social Media and Mobile Phones

On November 5, 2025, the II year MSW students of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) successfully organized and facilitated a student-led school training program titled "Manners Matter: The Right Way for Character Formation". The engaging session was conducted at Radiant Shema School, Bengaluru from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, designed to emphasize the foundational importance of etiquette and good character in a student's development.

Its core objective was to underscore the critical importance of good manners, respect, and social etiquette as fundamental components of holistic character development. The session saw enthusiastic participation from a wide age range, including 150 students from Classes 3 to 10.

The session was spearheaded by student coordinators, Ms. Akuminla Imchen, Mr. Abhishek Mathew Das, and Ms. Lalpianpuii. Their engaging approach was met with immediate enthusiasm from the audience; the students of Radiant Shema School were notably attentive and active participants throughout the hour-long program. A key highlight of the event was a dynamic, hands-on activity specifically designed to foster team building and coordination, allowing the young participants to practice positive interaction and collaborative skills in a fun and practical environment.

The training program concluded successfully, leaving the students of Radiant Shema School equipped with valuable social skills and a renewed appreciation for respectful behavior. Alongside, warm appreciation and encouragement was provided to the student team by the Headmistress and Vice Principal of the School.


Student-Led Training Programme on Enhancing Well-Being Through Health and Hygiene

On November 3, 2025, a total of 70 students from classes 8 and 9 participated in a student-led training programme titled “Enhancing Well-Being Through Health and Hygiene.” The session was organized by the Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, for the students of Jyothi English Medium High School, Bangalore.

The main objective of the programme was to educate young students on the importance of personal hygiene, health, and overall well-being. It aimed to create awareness about simple yet essential health practices such as regular handwashing, maintaining oral hygiene, proper nutrition, and keeping their surroundings clean. Furthermore, the session focused on promoting preventive health measures to minimize the spread of diseases and encourage a healthier school environment. The facilitators also sought to inspire positive behavioural changes among students by motivating them to follow hygienic routines not only in school but also at home and in their communities.

The session emphasized that maintaining hygiene is closely linked to both physical and mental well-being. Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and practical examples, the facilitators highlighted how small daily habits can make a big difference in leading a healthy lifestyle. The training was effectively facilitated by Ms. Deinihun I. Syngkon, Ms. Arya Sukeesh K, and Ms. Priyanka Khongbantabam, II MSW students, who engaged the students through visual aids, activities, and question-and-answer sessions. Their approach helped the participants actively participate and gain a better understanding of the significance of health and hygiene in their everyday lives.

Student-Led Training Programme on Empowered Digital Presence: Fostering Online Safety and Self-Worth Among Youth

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, in collaboration with St. Charles Women’s PU College, Bangalore, organized a student-led training programme titled “Empowered Digital Presence: Youth Online Safety” on November 3, 2025. A total of 240 students from Class 11 Commerce (A, B, and C) actively participated in the session, which aimed to promote awareness about responsible digital behaviour and online safety among youth.

The objective of the programme was to help students understand the importance of self-worth, self-esteem, and the empowered use of internet, encouraging them to engage digitally without compromising their own or others’ safety. The session focused on using the internet as a tool for learning, creativity, and advocacy, while covering essential online safety measures such as creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, avoiding scams, recognizing fake accounts, and maintaining a healthy balance between screen time and mental well-being.

The interactive session was facilitated by Mr. Ashish Ashok Jadhav, Ms. Monica Ann George, and Ms. Shanila Takhelmayum, II MSW students, who shared insightful and practical approaches to fostering a confident, safe, and empowering digital presence among young learners.


Student-Led Training Programme on Judicious Use of Social Media and Mobile Phones

The students of the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, conducted a student-led training programme on “Judicious Use of Social Media and Mobile Phones” on 3rd November 2025 at St. Theresa Bacq Public School for 20 students of Class 9. The session aimed to create awareness about responsible and meaningful use of social media and mobile phones as tools for learning and personal development. Facilitated by Ms. Rini Varghese, Ms. Priyadha Joshy, and Mr. Hemanth Kumar M, II MSW students, the session focused on developing self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-control in managing online behavior and digital interactions responsibly.

The facilitators adopted an interactive and activity-based approach using stories, discussions, and real-life examples to make the session engaging and relatable. The students participated enthusiastically, reflecting their improved understanding of safe surfing and responsible technology use. The programme not only benefitted the participants but also helped the facilitators enhance their teamwork, communication, and facilitation skills, making it a valuable and meaningful learning experience.


Student Led Training on Emotional Intelligence: Key to Relationship and Growth

The students of the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, conducted a student-led training program on “Emotional Intelligence: Key to Relationship and Growth” on 31st October 2025 at Don Bosco High School for 25 students of Class 9. The session aimed to help students understand the importance of emotional intelligence in building healthy relationships and achieving personal as well as academic growth. Facilitated by Ms. Ibashisha Lakhmie, Ms. Marina Mangthameni, and Ms. Nandana C.A., the program highlighted the key components of emotional intelligence—self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-control—emphasizing how these qualities aid in managing emotions and enhancing communication skills.

The facilitators used an interactive and participatory approach with examples, stories, and activities to make the session engaging and relatable. Students actively participated in discussions and activities, reflecting their improved understanding of emotional management and empathy. The facilitators expressed gratitude to Don Bosco High School and the Department of Social Work for their support. The program not only benefitted the school students but also helped the facilitators strengthen their skills in teamwork, communication, and facilitation, making it a valuable and enriching experience for all involved.


Mind Over Media: Building Digital Habits

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), successfully organized a Student- Led Training Programme on the theme “Mind Over Media: Building Digital Habits” on 31st October 2025. The session was specially designed for the students of National Icon Academy School with the aim to create awareness on the impact of digital media and encourage the students to adopt healthy digital habits for mindful and balanced technology use.

The Facilitators for the session were Ms. Dimple Maria, Mr. M Hari Haran and Mr. Joel Nainan Xavier, students of II MSW, Kristu Jayanti University. Through engaging discussions and activities, the facilitators underscored the importance of maintaining healthy digital habits for both academic and personal success.

A key highlight of the programme was the interactive session, which aided in the self-refection of students on their use of digital technology, providing insights into its influence on their overall wellbeing. The participants actively engaged in the session and shared their experience of digital media usage in academic and personal life. The training concluded with a token of appreciation and gifts presented to the Vice Principal of National Icon Academy School, as a gesture of gratitude and collaboration. The students expressed their appreciation, underscoring the relevance of the session in helping them navigate towards success and career growth.

Time Management and Goal Achievement: Overcoming Procrastination

The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), successfully organized a Student-Led Training Programme on the theme “Time Management and Goal Achievement: Overcoming Procrastination” on 30th October 2025. The session was specially conducted for the 10th-grade students of Sai Shankara Vidyashala, Bengaluru, with a total of 39 students participating actively. The main aim of the session was to help students understand the importance of managing their time effectively, setting achievable goals, and overcoming procrastination in their daily lives.

The facilitators for the session were Ms. Mariam Gigi, Mr. Raja Sunil, and Mr. Satya Pradhan, students of II MSW, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University). The session began with an energetic ice-breaking activity titled “Fast Reaction Challenge”, which helped the students relax, interact freely, and get into a positive learning mood.

Throughout the session, the facilitators discussed key topics such as the meaning and importance of time management, common reasons why people procrastinate, and practical tips to overcome it. The concept of SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) was also introduced to help students set clear and reachable targets in their studies and personal lives.

A highlight of the session was the friendly and open interaction between the facilitators and students. The learners showed great enthusiasm, participated actively in discussions, and expressed that they found the session both enjoyable and useful. The Department of Social Work, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), successfully organized a Student-Led Training Programme on the theme “Strategies for Building Confidence and Emotional Intelligence” on 24th October 2025. The session was specially designed for the students of Morning Star Public School with the aim of enhancing their self-confidence, emotional awareness, and interpersonal communication skills.

The facilitators for the session were Mr. Mathews K Saji, Ms. Dhaniya Shirin K H, and Mr. Abhiram G. Nair, students of II MSW, Kristu Jayanti University. Through engaging discussions, activities, and reflective exercises, the facilitators emphasized the importance of understanding and managing emotions as a core life skill that supports academic and personal success.

Academic Stress Management

On October 22, 2025, at 11 o’clock, a Student-Led Training Program on “Academic Stress Management” was conducted at St. Teresa’s Girls High School, Nedumkunnam, for 7th-grade students was organised by the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti University. The training session was organized as part of the school training initiative by MSW students of Department of Social Work student coordinators are Ms. Akshaya Dev S, Ms. Merin Tresa Kuriakose, and Ms. Aleena Shaji.

The program began with an interactive ice-breaking activity to engage the students and create a comfortable learning atmosphere. This was followed by sessions that introduced the concept of academic stress, its signs and symptoms, and the effects of stress on students’ mental and physical well-being. The facilitators also discussed effective stress management strategies, including time management, maintaining a positive attitude, and balancing academics with relaxation and leisure.

In the concluding part, students actively participated in breathing and humming exercises to help reduce stress and improve concentration. The session was well-received, with students responding enthusiastically and sharing their thoughts. The Student-Led Training Program successfully promoted awareness about stress management among school students, empowering them with simple, practical techniques to handle academic challenges and enhance emotional well-being.

Student Led Seminar on The Legacy of Kuriakose Elias Chavara in Commemorating 220th Birth Anniversary

On the occasion of the 220th Birth Anniversary of Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a student-led seminar was organized by the Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru on 10th of February 2025. The Seminar aimed to reflect on his invaluable contributions to education, healthcare, social development, and women empowerment. The event provided a platform for students to engage in discussions, present research findings, and propose innovative ideas inspired by the life and legacy of Chavara.

Students highlighted Chavara's pioneering role in establishing schools and promoting education for all, especially marginalized communities. Discussions revolved around the need to incorporate his educational principles into modern pedagogy, ensuring inclusivity, value-based learning, and holistic development. The session on healthcare focused on Chavara’s emphasis on compassionate medical care and the establishment of hospitals and dispensaries.

Presentations underscored the relevance of community healthcare models and affordable medical services in contemporary society. The importance of integrating spirituality with medical ethics was also emphasized. Students explored Chavara’s contributions towards eradicating social evils and fostering unity. Case studies on his initiatives in community welfare and charity work were discussed, with participants analysing ways to adapt his principles to address modern social challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability. A significant portion of the seminar was dedicated to women empowerment, an area where Chavara played a transformative role by advocating for girls’ education and social upliftment. Participants shared research on contemporary women’s rights issues and how Chavara’s vision can serve as a guiding framework for gender equality and empowerment today. The student-led seminar was a resounding success, fostering deep discussions and innovative ideas. The legacy of Kuriakose Elias Chavara continues to inspire transformative change in education, healthcare, social development, and women empowerment. The event concluded with a call to action for students to actively contribute towards societal progress, carrying forward Chavara’s mission of service and compassion.


Student Led Seminar on Mental health of Students: Concerns & Solutions

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru organised a student led seminar on mental health of students: concerns and solutions. The seminar aimed to understand and address the mental health issues of the students and also to find out the possible solutions and through collaborative discussions and expert insights. The objective of the seminar was to raise awareness about mental health issues among students. To provide a platform for students to share their concerns and experiences. To explore practical solutions to enhance mental well-being. To encourage open dialogue on mental health and break stigma. The presenters are Mr. Daris Robin, Ms Badhria, Ms. Reetika, Ms. Rupa, Ms. Jessy, Ms Riya, Ms Kalpna, Ms. Greeshma, and Mr. Pratap, II MSW students.

The students presented topics on stress management techniques such as time management, exercise, and mindfulness practices. University Support system, strengthening counselling services and peer support groups. Breaking stigma and encouraging open conversation about mental health. Initiating healthy life style habits, importance of sleep, nutrition and physical activity. Experts from social work shared insights on common mental health concerns such as academic pressure, anxiety, and depression.

The seminar successfully created a safe space for students to discuss their mental health concerns. The active participation and engagement from students, faculty, and mental health professionals made it a valuable learning experience. Future initiatives will focus on implementing practical solutions and continuing mental health awareness programs.


Student-Led Seminar on Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now
Date: 10 December 2025
The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, Bengaluru, organized a Student-led Seminar based on this year’s theme “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now”,, on the 10th of December, 2024 for the 2nd Year MSW students. The objective of organizing this student-led seminar was to commemorate the Human Rights Day, which is observed every year, on the 10th of December- the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year’s Human Rights Day theme was, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now”, which focused on how human rights are a pathway to solutions, playing a critical role as a preventive, protective and transformative force for good.

The moderator, Ms. Riya, started off with a small introduction on why they had all gathered together for this particular seminar. With that, the speakers began talking on their individual topics. Ms. Greeshma Maria Mathew, gave a brief context and background of this day, and pointed out the importance of commemorating this day. The next to go was, Ms. Sorormi Jessy Zimik, who highlighted the vitality and the need of promoting and protecting Human Rights in today’s scenario, who was followed by Mr. Sebastian Paul, who dealt with the philosophical reasoning behind the idea and concept of Human Rights. Next in line was, Ms. Riteeka Chourasiya, who pointed out the various roles that are played by social workers in the field of Human Rights. Ms. Riya, the moderator, gave a summarised conclusion of all of their speeches, and urged her fellow batch mates to become fighters of Human rights, who ensure that every other person out there in the world, finds their voice and their ability to stand up for themselves.

As the student-led seminar came to an end, the Vote of Thanks was extended by Ms. Anagha Sajan, to express the gratefulness of the students towards the Department for organizing such programs for their benefit.
