Social Action Initiative by Project Vidya Drishti

On November 22, 2025, the II MSW students, Ms. Priyadha Joshy, Ms. Rini Varghese, Ms. Monica Ann George, Mr. Ashish Ashok Jadhav and Mr. Hemanth Kumar M., successfully conducted Project Vidya Drishti, an initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide for children studying in underprivileged government schools in rural Bengaluru. Under the leadership of Ms. Priyadha Joshy, the project focuses on providing multimedia projectors to support digital learning, enabling students to access visual and interactive educational resources in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
The initiative was designed in response to the lack of technological support in many government schools, where traditional teaching methods often limit engagement and learning opportunities. Through collaborative fundraising efforts, student mobilization, and community support, the project aims to enhance classroom learning experiences and foster equal access to modern educational tools.
The launch of the initiative witnessed participation from Municipal Vice-President, community representatives, and student organizers, who shared insights on the importance of educational equity and digital accessibility. The heartfelt support and positive response from the school community highlighted the need and impact of such interventions.
Project Vidya Drishti marks an important step toward promoting inclusive and equitable quality education, ensuring that every child regardless of socio-economic background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a digitally evolving world.

Social Action Initiative by Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

On November 21st 2025, the II MSW students of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) Mr. Hari Haran, Mr. Able Basalel Sajan, Mr. Alan Tom, Mr. Samuel Johnson, Ms. Dimple Maria and Ms. Deinihun I Syngkon successfully issued passbook to 10 selected girls from the migrant community of Pulikesh Nagar children between the age of 5-10 years
The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Project aims to provide financial support for the future education of 10 girl children, ensuring security and empowerment through savings for their academic growth. Each of the selected beneficiary received ₹8,000 rupees which was deposited in their post office account under the scheme to support their long-term educational needs. The programme was attended by around 25 individuals, including beneficiaries and their parents. The families expressed their heartfelt gratitude, as this support will greatly contribute to their daughters’ educational future and reduce financial burden.
The presence of Punidha ma’am added immense value to the event by highlighting the importance of securing the future of the girl child through education and savings. This initiative stands as a meaningful step toward supporting vulnerable families, creating awareness about the significance of investing in girls’ education, and inspiring the community to contribute toward empowering young girls. By coming together for this cause, the programme successfully encouraged collective responsibility and paved the way for a brighter and more secure future for every girl child.

Minor Project on Udyog Sutra - Threads of Hope

The Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, organized a community-based minor project titled “Udyog Sutra – Threads of Hope” on 13th November 2025 at Adarsha Trust, Doddaballapur, Bengaluru. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities and empower individuals through the distribution of electric sewing machines to the beneficiaries of Bommanahalli village.
The primary objective of the project was to enhance self-reliance among women and community members by supporting skill development and promoting economic independence through tailoring. The initiative also focused on encouraging entrepreneurship and strengthening local capacities for income generation.
The programme was graced by esteemed guests — Prof. Avala Murthy, Mr. Mallesh, Municipal Vice-Chairman; Mr. Basheer, President, Congress 5 Guarantee Scheme; and Mr. Rajgopal Kontankuntte, Panchayat President of Doddaballapur. Their encouraging words and presence added immense value to the event. The team also extended heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Sherly Margret, Director of Adarsha Trust, for her instrumental role in connecting the team with Bommanahalli village and for her continuous support and guidance throughout the project.
The event was successfully executed by the II MSW student team — Dhaniya Shirin K H, Nandana C A, Fathima Hannath, Mathews K Saji, Abhiram G Nair, and Akash Mathew — under the guidance and encouragement of the Department of Social Work.
The project concluded with a note of appreciation to all the guests, supporters, and community members whose contribution and goodwill made the initiative a remarkable success. The experience was truly inspiring, offering valuable insights into community engagement, social responsibility, and the transformative impact of social work interventions.

SSocial Action initiative on Good health and wellbeing through Project Jeevan Daan at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University)

On November 11th 2025, the II MSW students of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Mr. Raja Sunil Yesuputhiran, Mr. Satya Pradhan, Mr. Joel Nainan Xavier, Ms. Arya Sukeesh k, Ms. Merin Tresa Kuriakose, Ms. Akshaya Dev S, successfully conducted Distribution of Financial assistance of Minor Project Jeevan Daan.
The Jeevan Daan Project aims to provide free dialysis for two underprivileged patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), helping reduce their financial stress and improving their wellbeing. The two selected patient received Rs. 44,000 to cover their dialysis treatment for two months. About 60 people attended the event, including students, community members, and medical staff. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, as this support will ease their financial burden and ensure they receive essential medical care.
The event was graced by Mr. Premjeeth Peter, Dialysis Unit Head at St. Philomena’s Hospital, who spoke about Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and its impact on patients and their families. This initiative serves as a meaningful step towards supporting vulnerable individuals, raising awareness about CKD, and inspiring the community to contribute to healthcare for those in need.

Social Action Initiative on Women Empowerment through Project Jeevika at Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS)

On November 6, 2025, the II MSW students of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Ms. Aleena Shaji, Ms. Amala Joseph, Ms. Ankitha Bharali, Ms. Feba Susan George, Ms. Keziya Elsa Sam, and Ms. Jessie Mary Pale, successfully conducted Project Jeevika in collaboration with Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS).
The project aimed at empowering underprivileged women by distributing sewing machines to help them begin or expand their tailoring work, thereby supporting their livelihood. A total of eight beneficiaries were selected to receive the machines, and around 50 people attended the program, including staff, students, and community members. The beneficiaries expressed immense happiness and gratitude as they received the machines, marking the start of a new journey toward self-reliance and financial independence.
The event was graced by the presence of faculty members and representatives from BIRDS, whose encouragement and insights added great value to the initiative. This initiative served as a meaningful step toward women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihood development.
