His Excellency Katsumasa Maruo
Deputy Consul General of Japan

The School of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru, organised the International Lecture Series (ILS) An Interaction with Global Leaders on the topic ‘Indo-Japan Relations’ on June 18, 2022. The Chief Guest was His Excellency Katsumasa Maruo, Deputy Consul General of Japan, and the guest of honour was Mr. Ravinder Singh, Executive Director, ICDE -India.

His Excellency Katsumasa Maruo shared about India and Japan's multi-faceted cooperation within the ambit of their special strategic and global partnership. India and Japan are two major countries in Asia, sharing many similar interests and subscribing to common values. A strong India-Japan relationship will play a significant role in the emerging Asian security architecture and will contribute to the peace, stability, and prosperity of Asia and the world. In the last four years, there has been significant progress in all aspects of our bilateral relationship, but there is still the untapped potential that remains to be realised.

To enrich the audience more on Indo-Japan relations, presentations were delivered by six students of the School of Management. The presentation by Ms. Angel Sebastian spoke of world peace and the environment, emphasising both the countries' relationship and Japan’s initiative for implementing sustainable goals. Mr. Kevin Babu enunciated the peace-building activities of India and Japan and their contribution to financing the UN. Mr. Prince Ambattu Aji and Mr. Jibin John Saji highlighted Indo-Japanese technology, development and how its impact on geopolitics and national security has become more pronounced with the intensifying Sino-US strategic contestation. Finally, a role-play was performed by Ms. Anto Alice and Mr. Dushyanth about Indo-Japanese culture. Starting from the countries' languages, the performance touched upon all the core aspects of culture, which was presented in a lucid style.

The programme, coordinated by Prof. John Pradeep Kumar, Faculty, School of Management, concluded with the national anthems of both countries.
