M.Sc Biochemistry

Programme Overview
M.Sc. Biochemistry programme at Kristu Jayanti College is a two year programme spanning across 4 semesters offered by the Department of Life Sciences. The M.Sc., Biochemistry provides an in-depth understanding of the chemical processes underlying biological systems. The programme covers courses on biophysical and bio–organic chemistry, analytical biochemistry, bioinformatics, general physiology, molecular physiology, enzymology, clinical biochemistry, nutrition, metabolism, immunology & toxicology, molecular biology, plant physiology, biochemical genetics and clinical research. Research abilities, analytical methods, and practical laboratory training with contemporary equipment are prioritized along with submission of a discipline specific project.

The programme nurtures scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and technical expertise through research empowerment seminars, skill enhancement programme, workshops and students are motivated to present and publish their research work through symposiums and conferences. Biochemistry has a central role in life sciences and biochemical approaches are often fundamental in illuminating the causes of diseases and has created conceivable outcomes for new pharmaceutical products and therapeutic practices that will impact the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human ailments. By encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific creativity, the curriculum equips students to take on challenges in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and agricultural sectors and to pursue doctoral research or academic jobs in biological sciences.
