Appachiiii Pvt Ltd, a dynamic startup founded by Ms. Gopika P S, an MSc Biotechnology student at Kristu Jayanti College, has been honored with the prestigious Best Campus Company Award 2024 at the Bengaluru Tech Summit hosted by Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka.This recognition celebrates the transformative efforts of Appachiiii in blending traditional wellness remedies with modern innovations.

Appachiiii's flagship product, Chukku Brew, an instant health drink made from bioactive ingredients like dry ginger, tulsi, and black pepper, garnered widespread acclaim for its efficacy during the ongoing dengue epidemic. The product exemplifies the startup's commitment to sustainability, eco-consciousness, and holistic health solutions.

The award ceremony, part of the Smart Bio Awards, witnessed a distinguished panel of dignitaries presenting the accolade:

Spearheaded by Ms. Nandana Menon, a dedicated II Year BSc BTGE student from the Department of Life Sciences, Bioline Pvt. Ltd. is set to revolutionize the industry with its eco-conscious products.

Under the slogan “Redefining Plastics, Restoring Nature,” Bioline Pvt. Ltd. emphasizes its commitment to creating 100% biodegradable bioplastics. This forward-thinking approach addresses global environmental challenges and aligns with modern sustainability goals, showcasing the importance of innovation in academia leading to practical, real-world solutions.

Adding a significant highlight to the event, Mr. Thaneswar Singh, founder of IEntra Business Solution, Bengaluru, has pre-launched “Green Plast,” the first flagship product of Bioline Pvt. Ltd. Thrive Ups Pvt. Ltd., the latest startup launched by the Biopreneurship Club of the Department of Life Sciences at Kristu Jayanti College, is dedicated to enhancing sustainable urban gardening. This marks the club's seventh venture, supporting students in innovative biopreneurial initiatives. At the pre-launch event, Mr. Thaneswar Singh, Founder of IEntra Business Solution in Bengaluru, introduced Thrive Ups' flagship product, EcoZyme. Developed with a focus on organic solutions, EcoZyme is designed to promote robust plant growth, with successful trials conducted on indoor plants and rooftop gardens.

Thrive Ups Pvt. Ltd. is led by Ms. Gayathri S, a second-year BSc Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Genetics (BTBC) student in the Department of Life Sciences at Kristu Jayanti College. As the Founder and CEO, Ms. Gayathri is passionate about sustainable urban gardening and innovative bioproducts. With her background in biotechnology, she has been instrumental in the development and testing of EcoZyme, the company’s flagship product, which has shown significant plant growth-promoting effects, especially for indoor plants and rooftop gardens. This pioneering venture is led by Mr. Tharun Balaji, an ambitious II Year BSc MBGE student from the Department of Life Sciences. Hydragen Pvt. Ltd. is poised to make significant advancements by simplifying the use of hydra as an alternative animal model for various aquatic toxicity assays, thereby enhancing research capabilities.

The company’s mission, articulated through its motto “Simplifying Science, Enhancing Discovery,” underscores its commitment to facilitating ground-breaking advancements in the scientific community. This initiative is a testament to the innovative culture at Kristu Jayanti College, where students are encouraged to explore and develop real-world solutions that contribute to their respective fields.

The Department of Life Sciences, Biopreneurship Club, recently concluded a successful session in its Biopreneurship Mentoring Series, dedicated to equipping future biotech entrepreneurs from the BioNova programme.

The session was conducted by Dr. Austin Richard S, an accomplished Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Sciences. Dr. Richard shared his extensive expertise in biotechnology and business regulations, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of Udyam registration. This important process helps new biopreneurs legally establish their businesses and access various forms of government support.

Attendees benefited from learning:

Paramparika Foods Pvt. Ltd. Launches at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru

Paramparika Foods Pvt. Ltd., a venture dedicated to reintroducing millet-based nutrition to contemporary lifestyles, was officially launched today at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, during the Millet Mela event. This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s One District One Product (ODOP) scheme under Viksit Bharat 2047. The event was inaugurated by Dr. G.T. Puthra, Director of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, and Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Principal of Kristu Jayanti College.

Founded by Ms. Anu K. Raphael, a second-year BSc Biotechnology, Genetics student, Paramparika Foods aims to promote the health benefits of millets through accessible products. Their flagship offering, Ragi Koozh—a 200 ml fermented Ragi drink—is designed to support digestion, regulate blood sugar, and provide cooling benefits, representing the company’s commitment to merging traditional wellness with modern convenience.

On October 25, 2024, the Biopreneurship Cell of Kristu Jayanti College held a vibrant exhibition featuring product displays from three of its successful student-led startups: Agri Foods Private Limited, Appachiiii Pvt Ltd, and Cervam Private Limited. This event highlighted the achievements of the Biopreneurship Cell in transforming classroom knowledge into thriving businesses, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among life science students. The exhibition attracted enthusiastic participation from faculty, students, and college management, all eager to explore the innovative offerings developed by their peers. Each startup showcased unique products:

1. Agri Foods Private Limited – A startup focused on agricultural products, driven by sustainable practices.
2. Appachiiii Pvt Ltd – The makers of Chukku Brew, an organic tea blend that emphasizes wellness through natural ingredients.
3. Cervam Private Limited – A company dedicated to developing bio-based solutions, showcasing its latest offerings designed for eco-conscious consumers.
Adding further value to the event, Mr. S Sam Jai Kumar, Manager at the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, AICTE, visited the stalls as a guest. His expert insights provided valuable direction to the students, offering strategies for scaling up their ventures, enhancing brand visibility, and building industry connections. Mr. Jai Kumar’s feedback on optimizing product development and market reach inspired the student entrepreneurs to set higher goals for their ventures.

The Kristu Jayanti Incubation Centre and the Department of Computer Science (PG), in association with the Biopreneurship Club, Department of Life Sciences, successfully organized an insightful expert lecture titled "Building a Startup Ecosystem in Educational Institutions" on October 19, 2024. The session was led by Mr. Joseph Paul Arackalan, the General Manager of the Incubation Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna. Drawing from his extensive experience in fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems within academic institutions, Mr. Arackalan provided invaluable insights on how educational institutions can effectively nurture and support startups, helping students and innovators transform their ideas into successful businesses.

The event took place at the SKE auditorium and was attended by students and faculty members interested in entrepreneurship. Mr. Arackalan’s talk offered inspiration and practical advice, highlighting the key components necessary for building a thriving startup ecosystem within academic settings.

The seminar was conducted by Dr. Muruganantham A, the esteemed Director of the Kristu Jayanti Incubation Centre. Dr. Muruganantham’s vast experience in incubation strategies and business development offered students an in-depth perspective on how to harness innovation for entrepreneurial success. Founded by Ms. Gopika P S, a II year MSc Biotechnology student at Kristu Jayanti College, Appachiiii is dedicated to reviving traditional remedies for health and wellness. With a focus on premium, natural products, the brand aims to bring back the essence of ancient healing wisdom, aligning perfectly with today’s demand for holistic and sustainable health solutions. The launch event, held on October 8th, 2024, Jubilee auditorium, was graced by the presence of Smt. K. Ratna Prabha, IAS (Retd.), Former Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, as the Guest of Honor. Her inspiring words highlighted the crucial role of biopreneurship in shaping the future of sustainable business. This successful launch is a testament to the empowering vision of the BioNova program, which continues to transform innovative student ideas into impactful enterprises. Industrial visit to Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (CCAMP), Bengaluru

The registered Students of BioNova & 19 were participated to visit the CCAMP at 04/09/2024. The students and the teachers had an incredible visit to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and Molecular Platforms (CCAMP) with the students of the BioNova program. As a teacher, it is truly inspiring to witness the transformation in our students' perspectives on business and entrepreneurship, especially as they interacted with various incubatees. The hands-on experience and direct exposure to the thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) will undoubtedly serve as a major boost to the BioNova program. Seeing the students engage, ask insightful questions, and explore possibilities beyond traditional academics is a reminder of the limitless potential within each of them. A huge thanks to CCAMP and all the incubatees for providing such a stimulating environment and for sharing their knowledge and experience. The programme will feature Ms. Nithya K V, founder of the ecom biofertilizer brand Orincer, who will share her entrepreneurial journey from ideation to business establishment. Her insights will guide students through the biotech business landscape, inspiring innovative thinking and encouraging them to pursue their ventures. Key topics include identifying biotech opportunities, understanding bio-entrepreneurship fundamentals, and developing sustainable solutions. BioStart aims to build student confidence and skills, enabling them to transform scientific knowledge into successful enterprises. BioNova Launch - Entrepreneurship Training for Life Science Students

The Biopreneurship Cell of the Department of Life Sciences at Kristu Jayanti College successfully launched BioNova: Entrepreneurship Training for Life Science Students on 21st August 2024. The program aims to bridge the gap between biosciences and business by equipping students with the necessary skills to develop bio-products and initiate start-ups. The launch event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as alumni.

The launch included an introduction to the program's objectives and structure, highlighting the importance of combining scientific research with entrepreneurial skills. Participants were given a detailed overview of the opportunities and support available through the program, including hands-on experience in bio-product development, support for start-up initiatives, and skill-building workshops.

The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey towards empowering life science students with research, business, and innovation skills. Participants expressed great interest in the entrepreneurial aspects of biosciences, and the program promises to pave the way for future biotech entrepreneurs.
