Post Graduate Programme (M.Sc.)
The M.Sc. programme spans over two years (4 semesters) duration offering specializations in Clinical Psychology, and Industrial Psychology. The specializations begin from the Third semester.
Eligibility:
BA/B.Sc. degree from Bangalore University or any other University offering an equivalent degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in the main subjects individually as well as in aggregate, with Psychology as a compulsory subject.
Internships and Experiential Learning
To ensure practical exposure and real-world application of the theories learned, we offer internships after the third semester. Students have the opportunity to intern at renowned institutions, research centers, NGOs, and corporate organizations such as Christian Medical College Vellore, Pepsi CO, Hinduja Global Solutions, Future Retail, and many others. These internships are crucial for developing professional skills and gaining insights into psychological practice across different sectors.
Course Structure and Learning Path
Semester 1: Building a Strong Theoretical Foundation
The first semester focuses on laying the groundwork for a deep understanding of behavior and cognition. Students will be introduced to essential concepts, tools, and techniques through the following modules:
• Theoretical Foundations of Behaviour: Explore the core principles underlying human behavior.
• Cognitive Neuroscience I: Dive into the neural mechanisms of cognition and the brain’s role in mental functions.
• Social Psychology: Understand how individual behavior is influenced by social interactions and group dynamics.
• Quantitative Research Methods: Learn about statistical methods and research design in psychology.
• Skills for Psychologists Practical: Engage in practical exercises to develop core psychological skills.
• Computer-Based Cognitive Neuroscience Assessments Practical: Hands-on experience with cognitive neuroscience tools and assessments.
• Academic Writing Skills: Develop the ability to present research findings with clarity and precision.
Semester 2: Expanding Knowledge and Research Skills
In the second semester, students deepen their knowledge in developmental psychology, applied fields, and advanced research methodologies:
• Cognitive Neuroscience II: Continue exploring advanced topics in neuroscience and cognitive functioning.
• Life Span Psychology: Study human development from conception through old age.
• Applied Fields in Psychology: Explore the diverse applications of psychology in real-world settings.
• Qualitative Research Methods: Gain expertise in qualitative analysis and research designs.
• Statistics in Behavioural Sciences: Delve into advanced statistical techniques for behavioral research.
• Personality Assessment Practical: Learn to assess and interpret different aspects of personality.
• Statistical Packages in Research Practical: Master the use of statistical software in psychological research.
Semester 3: Specialization and Practical Application
In the third semester, students choose their specialization in Clinical Psychology or Industrial Psychology and apply their skills through practicals:
• Positive and Indigenous Psychology: Learn about indigenous perspectives and positive psychology frameworks.
• Clinical Psychology I (for Clinical Psychology specialization): Focus on mental health and psychopathology.
• Adult Psychological Intervention (for Clinical Psychology specialization): Develop therapeutic skills for adults.
• Human Resource Psychology (for Industrial Psychology specialization): Understand psychological principles in the workplace.
• Human Resource Management (for Industrial Psychology specialization): Explore strategies for managing people in organizations.
• Clinical Assessments Practical: Hands-on practice in clinical assessments.
• Human Resource Assessment Practical: Practical experience in assessing individuals within workplace settings.
• Psychopathology: Gain in-depth knowledge of psychological disorders and abnormal behavior.
• Organizational Behaviour Profiling Practical (for Industrial Psychology specialization): Practical learning in profiling organizational behavior.
• Screening Test for Children Practical (for Clinical Psychology specialization): Hands-on experience with child psychology assessments.
Semester 4: Synthesis, Research, and Fieldwork
The final semester focuses on integrating knowledge and applying it in real-world contexts through research, internships, and advanced therapeutic techniques:

• Organisational Behaviour (for Industrial Psychology specialization): Deep dive into organizational behavior theories.
• Industrial Relations and Labour Law (for Industrial Psychology specialization): Learn about the legal frameworks governing industrial relations.
