Workshop on Branding
The department of commerce organized a workshop on ‘Branding and its importance in today’s world’ on Wednesday, 17 September 2014. Mr. Sangeeth and M. Chethan, briefed the students on essentials of branding. The session had a quiz on various brands and also the students were given an opportunity to have a group discussion on ways to market a new venture’.

Workshop on "Transformative Teaching Pedagogy for Blended Learning"

The Department of Commerce (UG) at Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore, organized a workshop on "Transformative Teaching Pedagogy for Blended Learning" for the academic year 2024-2025. The event took place on July 18, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. R B Ayeswarya, who serves as the Dean of Student Affairs Shift II and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce at Stella Maris College (Autonomous), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The workshop saw active participation from 105 educators and professionals from various colleges. Dr. Ayeswarya shared her extensive knowledge and experience, focusing on innovative teaching methods suitable for both online and offline environments. She highlighted various pedagogical approaches that can enhance the learning experience, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and engagement in a blended learning setup. Her insights were well-received, providing the attendees with practical strategies to implement in their teaching practices.

Workshop on Basic of Stock Market
Date: 20 & 21 October, 2023
The workshop on the 'Basics of the Stock Market,' led by Mr. Kishore BS, proved to be an exceptionally enlightening and engaging educational experience. Mr. Kishore demonstrated a high level of expertise in the subject matter, skillfully unraveling the intricacies of the stock market. His clear and accessible teaching style made this often intimidating topic comprehensible to all students. The interactive trading activity, a workshop highlight, not only enhanced our grasp of the concepts but also injected an element of fun and hands-on learning. This workshop provided a remarkable opportunity to establish a strong foundation in stock market fundamentals. Mr. Kishore's passionate and informative approach left all attendees feeling inspired and well-prepared to embark on their investment journeys.

During his session, Mr. Kishore conducted a paper trading activity that fully engaged all the students. Participants experienced the dynamic nature of trading as the values of investments fluctuated. Students actively bought and sold shares under the guidance of volunteers who oversaw the simulated market. Subsequently, a demonstration of real stock market dynamics showcased various companies’ price movements, and introduced the Stock Byte app, along with details about course certification.


Workshop on Problem Solving and Ideation
Date: 03 October, 2023
Department of Commerce (UG), Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, in association with Institution’s Innovation Council organised Seminar on 03rd October 2023. The Resource Person for the session was Mr.Thaneswar Singh, Founder, IEntra Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The resource person addressed the gathering and shared his experience with the first year B.Com students of Sections D,E and F. He gave the in depth information about Problem Solving and Ideation. He outlined the various ways to solve problem. He also highlighted the ways to work on ideas into real picture. He also mentioned the roles and responsibilities of IIC and KJIC to develop the Problem Solving skills and Idea developing skills.


Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity

Department of Commerce (UG), Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, in association with Institution’s Innovation Council organised Workshop on 25th September 2023. The Resource Person for the session was Mr.Stephen Deepak, Vice President – IIC, Kristu Jayanti Incubation Centre, Assistant Professor, School of Management, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous. The resource person addressed the gathering and shared his experience with the first year B.Com students of Sections A,B and C. He gave the in depth information about career opportunity through entrepreneurship and innovation. He also highlighted role and responsibilities of IIC and KJIC to develop the entrepreneurship among younsters.


Workshop on Internship Orientation
Date: 17 April, 2023
The Workshop on Internship Orientation, organized by the Department of Commerce (UG), Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), began its training sessions on April 17th, 2023. On the day of the workshop, students received input on various courses available in BCom Honours, and the skill set required to pursue an Internship during the summer semester break, the instruction from Dr. Chandrakhanthan J of the Department of Commerce at Kristu Jayanti College. He gave the students instructions on what an internship is, how it operates, why writing an Internship report is beneficial, and how to style one. He also urged students to take up fresh study topics in order to do their internships in various organizations. Subsequently, Prof. Vijya Kumar HoD, gave input on how to choose the course for the BCom Honours. Both the resource person and HoD provided the students with ample information and inputs for Internships and courses for Bcom Honours.


Workshop on Basis of Stock Market
Date: 20 to 23 March, 2023
Department of Commerce (UG) in association with the Investors club organized a workshop on Basis of the Stock Market. The resource person of the day Mr. Kishore BS started his presentation by asking about the general perception of the stock market. Mr. Kishore explained how companies go for an IPO and what are the criteria for fulfilling the IPO. What are the documents required for opening a Demat account, Types of Approaches in the stock market, Live examples of trading a share in the market, at last, the entire participants are requested to participate in a live trading session which uplifted the skill of trading among the students, All the students actively participated in a stock trading activity which will be enhanced the knowledge in the stock market trading.


Workshop All about E-Invoicing and Input Tax Credit
Date: 17 January, 2023
Mr.Shanmukha C.G started his presentation by uplifting the skill of students in the area of GST & how to upgrade their skills in major areas using various technologies which would help them to withstand the market and also to face the digital world. Mr.Shanmukha also explained students about tally and other applications which would help them in updating various tax related directly into portals. Following the session was been taken over by Mrs. Rupa Rani founder and President of FOWE who inspired students by narrating her own life journey were she faced many kind of challenges in order to be in a successful position and being the founder of FOWE. All the students actively participated and enlightened them to be a part of awareness about the Input tax credit and also about E-invoicing.

Skill Development Workshop on Basics of Income Tax
Date: 31 March, 2021
The Department of Commerce, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), organized a ‘Skill Development Workshop on Basics of Income Tax’ for IV Semester CBCS - Basics of Investment Management Class on 31 March 2021. Resource person Prof. Madhumathi T K started with the basics of income tax, Assessee, Assessment year, Financial year, Hindu Undivided Family, TDS, Resident, Non-Resident, Society, Trust, Business, Investment in tax saving instruments, Income tax slab, and Heads of income. Prof. Surjit Singha coordinated the event under the able guidance of HoD Prof. Vijayakumar R and Dean Dr Aloysius Edward J. The session was ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Surjit Singha. Students found it very useful, and they understood the concept of Income Tax.


Skill Development Workshop on Ratio Analysis
A ‘Skill Development Workshop on Ratio Analysis’ was organized by Department of Commerce, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) for IV Semester CBCS - Basics of Investment Management Class on 25 March 2021. Resource person, Prof. Aneesha K Shaji, delivered various ratio analysis concepts such as Liquid ratio, Solvency ratio, Activity ratio, Profitability ratio in details. Numerical sums related to various ratio was demonstrated and explained how to calculate it. Prof. Surjit Singha coordinated the event, under the able guidance of HoD Prof. Vijayakumar R. The session was ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Surjit Singha. Students found it very useful, and they understood the concept of ratio analysis and the importance of its calculation.

Name and details of the Resource Person: Dr. Nagadeepa C., M.Com, M.B.A, PGDCA, PhD, working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Commerce, Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore. She has more than 20 years of experience in teaching, and expertise in accounts, income tax, and marketing subjects. She has published more than 35 articles in national and international journals and also co-authored 3 books. She has participated and presented papers at national and international conferences as well. She is interested in research related to e-commerce, marketing and accounts. She is guiding many students in the field of human resource management, marketing, finance, and accounts.
Objective: To help the students to develop and enhance the skills in Microsoft Excel

The Programme began by invoking God’s blessings followed by welcome speech and the introduction of the Resource person by Dr. Arockia Stalin. Dr.Nagadeepa started the session by speaking about her thoughts on building skills in Excel among the students. She demonstrated by various examples the functionality of Excel and solved lot of issues and doubts raised by. The workshop was well received by the students. And the students found the same appropriate and relevant. Dr.Nagadeepa was very friendly and gave many tips to the students on how use functionalities of micro soft Excel. She recommended that the students should practice the functionalities with some examples.. . Dr.Nagadeepa made the session very interactive. It was a great learning experience for every student.
