Guest Lecture on awareness about violence against women
Department of Political Science has organised Guest Lecture on 25th November 2020 through online mode. Dr. Winnie Joyce A, Asst. Prof. Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College was the guest speaker of the day. She delivered a guest lecture on the topic-Prevention of Emotional Violence against Women: A Psychosocial Approach. The resource person gave an insight of the emotions of an individual. Resource person also spoke about how to treat Negative Emotions. Everybody has a right to exhibit their emotion through anger, love, affection, tears etc. It should not be considered as a sole domain of women. The resource person conducted poll in the course of session.

Nearly 140 students participated in the event.


International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women
Objectives:
1. To bring an awareness about the violence against women.
2. To strengthen the emotions of an individual.

The Department of Political Science organised a Guest Lecture on 25th November 2020 through online mode between 2.15 and 3.15 PM The Guest Lecture began with a silent prayer. Sanjay of Class III Sem HEP was the MC for the program, the welcome speech was given by Deepthi the student coordinator and the introduction of the guest was done by Dr. Kaveri Swami, Faculty Coordinator, Department of Political Science. Dr. Winnie Joyce A, Asst. Prof. Department of Social Work, Kristu Jayanti College was the guest of the day. She delivered a guest lecture on the topic “Prevention of Emotional Violence against Women: A Psychosocial Approach”. The resource person gave an insight of the emotions of an individual. Resource person also gave tips on how to handle Negative Emotions. Everybody has a right to exhibit their emotion through anger, love, affection, tears etc. It should not be considered as a sole domain of women. The resource person conducted a poll in the course of the session. Later, Shubham the student coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.

EXPERT TALK ON “INDIA’S DEFENCE POLICY”

Name and details of the Resource Person: Prof. Bharathi Shyamraj, HOD, Dept. of Pol. Science.
Objective: To make the students aware of India’s Defence Policy from cold war to post cold war.

The Expert Talk was organized by the Political Science Club with the intention to imbibe the knowledge about the India’s Defence Policy from cold war to post cold war. The Guest of the day explained in a very systematic way about India’s Defence Policy starting from British period to the present day. She mentioned that the India is not a cake walk for the world due to her Defence Policy. She stressed that Defence Policy should be made compulsory to the Students at the Graduation level. Finally she concluded by saying that Soldiers are not born to die so let’s make our Defence strong.


Relevance of Social Sciences in Modern times

Objective: To make the students aware of the relevance of social sciences in modern times.

The Guest lecture was organized by the Political Science Club with the intention to imbibe the knowledge about the Social Sciences in Modern Times. The Guest of the day explained in a very systematic way about its importance of social science in the world. He mentioned that the study deals with all aspects of human life, for understanding present and past for achieving progress in the society. He explained the scope of humanities in the world wide. He stressed that Indian Education should adopt an integrated learning and concluded by saying that a holistic approach to the study of humanities and social sciences is the need of an hour.

Guest Lecture on Women Rights in India

Resource Person: Ms. Mary Princess Lavanya, Co-ordinator, PG, MSW, ST. Joseph College
A Guest lecture on ‘Women rights in India’ was conducted on 15.09.17, Friday in Kristu Jayanti College, by the department of political science at Room NO 602 at 11:00 AM. Ms. Mary Princess Lavanya. Madam started the session with a general overview of rights given by the state to the citizens with special reference to women’s rights. The resource person spoke about the survival of the fittest and the concept of fundamental rights which stresses on equality. Resource person stressed on the burning issues of violation of women rights, human trafficking etc. Later few case studies were discussed to analyse the thinking capacity of the students. On the whole the discussion was fruitful for the students.

Guest lecture- Dr.NATRAJ HULIAR, Director of Gandhian studies.
“It is very rare to see anyone from the current generation showing interest in Gandhiji” said Prof.Natraj Huliar, Director of Gandhian studies in his introductory speech. It was followed by an informative documentary “RECOLLECTIONS OF SATYAGRAHI” shown to the students. Later selected students were called to talk on features of Gandhism, relevance of Gandhi.
