About Us:
The Centre for Competitive Examinations Training at Kristu Jayanti College is a dedicated space on the 7th Floor, next to the Admin Block library, designed to be a go-to resource for students preparing for a wide range of competitive exams, including UPSC, SSC, Bank Exams, CAT/MAT, and CUET. We believe that every student deserves a supportive environment where they can access guidance, resources, and encouragement on their journey to success. The Centre provides this through a friendly, well-equipped space where experienced faculty are available to offer personalized advice, training sessions, and valuable exam information. We also partner with trusted coaching institutes and regularly organize orientation programs, workshops, and study sessions, making sure that students have the tools they need to feel confident and prepared. In addition, we’ve established a WhatsApp community for students, organized by exam categories—UPSC, SSC, Bank Exams, and CAT/MAT—where members receive timely updates, exam notifications, and study tips. To keep students informed, we also display monthly posters with the latest exam updates on the college signage board, so that students have easy access to the information they need. Our goal is simple: to help students take practical steps toward their goals, whether that means acing an exam or developing new skills. At the Centre for Competitive Examinations Training, students find a supportive community, hands-on resources, and a space where their ambitions are taken seriously.

Respectful Conduct: Every member should treat others with respect. Our community values inclusivity, cooperation, and a positive attitude toward learning and sharing.

Resource Usage: Resources provided, including materials, study guides, and access to faculty, are to be used responsibly. Members are asked to handle materials with care and return any borrowed items on time.

Communication Channels: For effective communication, members should join the relevant WhatsApp group for their exam category and regularly check for updates. There is also an official Instagram page for the centre. Discussions within these groups should remain professional and relevant to exam preparation.

Confidentiality: Any shared exam strategies, tips, or personalized guidance are to be kept within the Centre to respect the hard work of fellow members and mentors.

Documentation: The in-charges of documentation will be documenting all the activities’ reports in the required format. The same will be sent to IQAC every month.

Standardized Reporting Using IQAC Format: Strictly adhere to the IQAC-prescribed report format for all documentation. After each program or meeting, compile key details into a concise report that includes the objectives, participants, outcomes, and any significant insights gained. This uniform approach ensures consistency and quality across all documentation.

Timely Submission Protocol: Ensure all reports are finalized and sent to the IQAC by the 5th of every month. This ensures timely communication of the Centre's progress and activities, supporting ongoing quality assessment and compliance with institutional standards.

Glimpses and Website Updates: After each program, submit a brief summary report along with high-definition photos to the Glimpses team and the college web administrator. This step boosts visibility and engagement by keeping the college community informed of the Centre’s ongoing initiatives.

Dedicated WhatsApp Communication: Utilize the WhatsApp group for real-time updates and communication following each meeting and event. This channel allows for immediate sharing of highlights, action items, and follow-up reminders, ensuring that everyone stays informed and aligned.

Monthly Quality Check and Feedback Collection: Before submission to IQAC, conduct a brief quality check on each report to ensure accuracy and completeness. Additionally, gather feedback on recent events from both students and faculty to identify areas for future improvement, which can be noted in the following month's report.

Annual Compilation and Review: At the end of each academic year, compile all monthly reports, photos, and feedback summaries into an annual documentation record. This can serve as a reflective tool to evaluate overall progress, impact, and alignment with the Centre’s goals.

By leveraging these well-established processes, the Centre maintains consistent documentation, meets IQAC standards, and ensures clear communication across all team members.


Through Grit & Grace A Journey to Success in Bank Exam
Date: 04 November 2024
Centre for competitive examination training, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) organized a special lecture titled -Through Grit & Grace: A Journey to Success in Banking Exam. The event commenced with a silent prayer at 11.20 AM on 4th November 2024 in the A3 Auditorium, admin block. Ms. Devika Murali, Assistant Manager of Union Bank of India, Trivandrum, was the resource person of the day.

The resource person was welcomed officially to the event by handing over a sapling symbolizing growth and prosperity, to her by the financial administrator of the institute Fr. Jais V. Thomas. Then Fr. Jais praised the differently abled Devika Ma'am and her family in the presidential address for their perseverance. Then Ms. Devika was invited to the inaugural address by the master of the ceremony Ms. Anagha. Ms. Devika who aspired to become a civil servant and happened to become a bank employee delivered an insightful session to the aspirant banking professionals by narrating her story of success. She explained the necessity of willpower and determination in cracking competitive examinations especially when the candidate is differently abled. She skimmed through learning strategies, online platforms, teaching notes, scheduled learning, etc. Finally, the event ended officially with the vote of Thanks of Ms. Anagha.

The special lecture event was organized, coordinated and moderated by Dr. Sameena MS. Stage arrangement and hospitality were taken care of by Dr. Diana Erudiynathan, Feedback was collected and the OD forms were prepared by Dr. Kalairasi. The event was recorded and reported by Dr. Shyna KS.


Road to UPSC: Mapping Your UPSC Journey

The Centre for Competitive Examinations Training, Kristu Jayanti College proudly hosted an insightful expert lecture titled "Road to UPSC: Mapping Your UPSC Journey", in collaboration with the Shankar IAS Academy, Bengaluru. The event aimed to guide aspiring civil servants through the intricacies of preparing for the prestigious UPSC examinations, a pathway that many students aspire to follow.

The session featured Mr. Premanand S, an experienced educator and Branch Head at Shankar IAS Academy, who shared invaluable insights into the preparation strategy for the UPSC exams. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Mr. Premanand addressed several crucial aspects of the UPSC journey, including the UPSC exam structure, detailing its three main stages: Preliminary, Mains, and Interview, highlighting the significance of each in the overall selection process. He emphasized the importance of a well-structured study plan, discussing effective study strategies, including time management, resource selection, and revision techniques to enhance candidates' preparation. The resource person also underscored the necessity of staying updated with current affairs and building a strong foundation in general knowledge, both critical for success in the exam. Additionally, recognizing the challenges of UPSC preparation, Mr. Premanand shared valuable tips for maintaining mental health, managing stress, and ensuring a balanced lifestyle throughout the preparation phase.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants could clarify their doubts and seek personalized advice from Mr. Premanand. The lecture provided students with practical insights and strategies, enabling them to approach their UPSC preparation with renewed motivation.


Expert Lecture on "CATapult to Your Dream MBA"
Date: 15 October 2024
The Center for Competitive Examinations Training (CCET), in collaboration with IMS Learning Resources Pvt Ltd, organized an expert lecture titled "CATapult to Your Dream MBA" on October 15, 2024. The session was led by Mr. Belvi Srinivas, Chief Mentor of the South Region at IMS, Bengaluru.

Mr. Srinivas highlighted the importance of developing management skills during undergraduate studies and stressed the value of certifications, active participation in college clubs, and interview preparation for building a strong foundation for future careers. He also discussed the benefits of pursuing an MBA, including specialized knowledge, networking, and enhanced job prospects. The session offered valuable insights on choosing the right MBA program and navigating entry barriers such as exams, admission requirements, and work experience. Mr. Srinivas further introduced IMS Learning Resources and its role in supporting MBA aspirants through mentorship and internships.

Participants found the session highly insightful, particularly in building a strong profile and career planning.


From KJC to Central University: An Alumna’s Success Story

The Centre for Competitive Examinations Training (CCET), in collaboration with the Department of English, hosted a program titled "From KJC to Central University: An Alumna’s Success Story" on October 14, 2024. Led by Ms. Anagha Parvathy, an MA student at JNU, the session covered the CUET and other PG entrance exams, detailing participating universities, eligibility criteria, and exam formats. Ms. Parvathy shared her personal experiences and effective strategies for exam preparation, emphasizing goal setting, structured study schedules, and the importance of mock tests and current affairs. The program concluded with a Q&A session addressing students' concerns about study resources and balancing college work with exam preparation.


Logo Design Competition
Date: 24 September 2024
The Centre for Competitive Examinations Training (CCET) at Kristu Jayanti College successfully organized a Logo Design Competition, open to all undergraduate, postgraduate, and LLB students, to design the official logo for the Centre. The competition, which received an overwhelming response with 82 entries, aimed to foster student creativity while creating a visual identity for the CCET. Mr. Aby Augustine, Coordinator, Department of Media Studies, served as the judge for the competition and provided valuable insights during the evaluation process. After a thorough review, Ms. Karthika Premdeep of 23BBNB34, BBA, emerged as the winner. Her logo design was unveiled by Fr. Jais V. Thomas, Financial Administrator, on 24th September 2024, in the presence of faculty coordinators, Dr. Sameena M.S and Mr. Vipulkumar N.M. As part of the felicitation, the winning design and Ms. Karthika’s photograph were displayed on the college's digital signage board and social media platforms. The programme was lauded for providing students with a platform to express their talents while contributing to the institutional mission of “Empowering Aspirations, Achieving Excellence.”


Competitive Examinations Power Start

The Centre for Competitive Examinations Training (CCET), in collaboration with T.I.M.E. Institute, organized the programme titled 'Competitive Examinations Power Start' on 18 September 2024 at 11:00 AM in Mini Audi M4, IV Floor, Main Block. The resource person for the session, Ms. Vijayalakshmi Venugopalan, Senior Mentor and Head of the Department of English at T.I.M.E Institute, Bengaluru, delivered a highly insightful and engaging presentation. Ms. Venugopalan began by introducing students to the different types of competitive examinations, such as IBPS, CAT, SSC, and others, providing insights into the anticipated vacancies for 2024-2025, the eligibility criteria, examination patterns, and key preparation strategies. The session was informative, with Ms. Venugopalan's dynamic and interactive approach keeping students highly engaged. She highlighted essential preparation techniques, including time management, subject focus areas, and the importance of practice through mock tests.The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students raised queries regarding specific competitive exams, preparation tips, and career opportunities in the banking sector. Ms. Venugopalan addressed these questions with practical advice and motivation, ensuring the session ended on a high note. Orientation on Civil Service Exams

One of India's most prominent and challenging exams is the Civil Service Exam. It acts as a starting point for people hoping to enter the prestigious countrywide civil services. A joint event between Kristu Jayanti College and Shankar IAS Academy was planned to give prospective civil students helpful direction and orientation. Mr. Premanand S, Branch Head of Shankar IAS Academy Bengaluru, a renowned authority on civil services coaching, was a featured resource person at the event. The Civil Service Examination method was clearly explained to participants, which helped to demystify many parts of the test. Many attendees were motivated to seek a career in the civil services by Mr. Premanand S's inspiring speech. Participants received helpful advice on efficient study methods that would aid them in their preparation. The Q & A session provided individualized assistance and addressed the participants' particular issues.

The joint orientation event with Shankar IAS Academy was a great success, and Mr. Premanand S served as the resource person. It gave aspirant civil workers insightful information, inspiration, and direction to succeed in the Civil Service Examination. In the future, Kristu Jayanti College will keep planning such events as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering aspirations of people looking to join the civil service.

Orientation Programme on Bank P.O. Exams
Date: 09 January 2024
The Centre for Competitive Examination Training, in collaboration with T.I.M.E. INSTITUTE, Bangalore, organized an orientation on BANK P.O. Exams for students of UG II Year, PG I Year & LLB III & IV Year Programmes on January 9th, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. The event took place in the A2 Auditorium, located on the 3rd Floor of the Admin Block. The orientation aimed to provide valuable insights into BANK P.O. Exams, equipping students with the necessary knowledge and strategies for success. The session, led by the esteemed resource person Ms. Vijayalakshmi Venugopalan, Senior Mentor and Head of the Department of English at T.I.M.E Institute Bangalore, was not only informative but also remarkably engaging. Ms. Venugopalan covered crucial topics such as IBPS, anticipated vacancies in 2024 and 2025, exam schedules, eligibility criteria, pay-scale, and examination patterns. Her interactive and humorous presentation style captivated the audience, fostering an atmosphere of active participation. Overall, the event successfully equipped students with valuable insights into the banking sector while providing an enjoyable and enriching learning experience.


Certificate Course on Aptitude Skills
Date: 17 January to 15 March 2024
The Centre for Soft Skills & Aptitude Training (CSSAT) in association with Centre for Competitive Exams Training (CCET) offered Certificate Course on “Aptitude Skills” to the First, Second & Final year UG students. Aptitude is the acquired capacity for something and it can range from developed knowledge, learned or acquired abilities or skills, talents, which is necessary to perform a task. The aim of this course is to equip the students with basic aptitude skills through problem solving methods and testing one’s critical thinking across various contexts. This course is conducted for 30 hours as part of their curriculum which will enhance their employability skills. This course was handled by CSSAT & CCET faculty members and each faculty was given a topics based on their preference and allotted the class for the students. Aptitude problems related to various concepts were solved out in the class and the additional problems were given to the students to get practiced in aptitude skills. The aptitude class was scheduled every Monday, Wednesday & Friday in a week from 04.30 pm to 05.30 pm all the teachers have taken the classes as per the schedule.
