Experiential visit to Belur, Halebidu and Shravanabelgola

The Department of Political Science at Kristu Jayanti College organized an insightful experiential visit to Belur, Halebidu and Shravanabelgola. Students gained valuable insights regarding the socio-political conditions during the Hoysala period. The intricate carvings and sculptures prompted discussions on power dynamics, societal hierarchies and the role of symbolism in political communication. This exposure broadened the students’ perspectives regarding governance structures, societal values and the interplay between politics and art during different periods in Ancient Indian Political thought. Through guided interactions, students could connect theoretical concepts to tangible examples, fostering a deeper appreciation for the complexities of political structures. It also helped them contextualize the regional dynamics that influenced political sentiments during the Indian National Movement. Overall, the visit fostered a holistic understanding of political science within the broader context of India’s historical and cultural tapestry.
Experiential visit to Channapatna, and Janapada Loka

The department of Political Science organized an insightful experiential visit to Channapatna, and Janapada Loka for BA IV SEM HSPS, PSSO on 19th February 2024.
The field trip provided students with invaluable hands-on experience in understanding the administrative processes at Channapatna, Bharat Toy Factory Unit 1, followed by an immersive exploration of the model village showcasing various tribes of Karnataka at Janapada Loka. The trip offered a unique opportunity to witness firsthand on how local traditions intricately intertwine with the current political structure. From observing the production methods and management techniques at the toy factory to experiencing the cultural richness of the model village, students gained profound insights into the multifaceted influences of tradition on governance. This comprehensive learning experience underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage while navigating contemporary administrative challenges, fostering a deeper appreciation for the intersection of tradition and politics in shaping society.
Experiential Visit To Karnataka State Rural Development And Panchayat Raj University, Gadag

The Department of Political Science organized an experiential visit to KSRDPR University at Gadag for I year M.A. Public Administration students from 16th to 19th October 2023. Our students interacted with the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Faculty and Students of KSRDPR University. Students visited Sabarmati Ashram in Gadag, which is a replica of Sabarmati Ashram of Gujarat, students also visited Binkada katte village a Gandhi Gram awardee village, interacted with CFO of Zilla Panchayat at Gadag, visited tallest Basaveshwara Statue, Badami Caves and Hampi. This experiential visit was a memorable and enlightened to the students.
Educational and Experiential visit to Delhi

The Department of Political Science organized an Educational and Experiential visit to Delhi. The whole trip covered a visit to the Indian Parliament, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Mughal Garden, Akshardham Temple and the Qutab Minar.
Students representing the Kristu Jayati College had the privilege of visiting the Parliament of India, gaining firsthand insights into Parliamentary Procedures. The students explored the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha and the Centre Hall of the Parliament, and experienced the real-life Parliamentary proceedings.
The students were also taken to other famous historical sites in Delhi. The Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum enriched their understanding of India’s historical and political evolution. Akshardham Temple offered a unique blend of spirituality and culture, educating the students about India’s rich spiritual heritage. The meticulously designed garden in Akshardham provided a serene backdrop for reflection and relaxation. The Mughal Garden within the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex showcased India’s horticultural legacy and landscape magnificence, while the Qutab Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, revealed the grandeur of Indo-Islamic architecture and the intricate layers of India’s cultural history.

The Department of Political Science, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous) organized a Field Visit to Mysuru on 03/03/2023. The students of IV sem PSEN, PSSO, and PSEC visited the Mysore Palace, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, St. Philomena’s Church, and other places in Mysuru. This was a wonderful experience for students to visit these many places. It helped the students to gain practical learning, social mobilization, the significance of historical places, and life-long experience.

The students of VI SEM HEP, EPS, and JPSEng visited the University of Mysore, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, and St. Philomena’s Church. This was a wonderful experience for the students. It helped the students to gain practical learning, social mobilization, the significance of historical places, and life-long experience.
Experiential Visit to Delhi

The Department of Political Science organized an experiential visit to Parliament of India, Rastrapati Bhavan, Rastrapati Bhavan Museum, India Gate and other important places in New Delhi for selected students of III Sem PSEC and PSSO between 22.09.2022 to 24.09.2022. As students of Political Science are primarily interested in becoming a part of the Indian administration, this Delhi visit helped the Students to gain practical learning and life-long experience.
Field Visit to Mysuru Palace, St. Philomena Church and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

The Department of Political Sciences has organized a field visit as a part of experiential learning for the VI semester BA HEP/EPS/JPsEng/HTJ consisting of 81 students to Mysuru on 12.5.2022 Dr. Kaveri Swami and Dr. Mohammed Sirajuddeen accompanied the students. The journey started at 6.15 am and reached to Mysore Palace at 11.30 am. Mysuru Palace was a spectacular moment to witness one amongst the most renowned history of India. The infrastructure was amazing. Students were surprised to see that without having sophisticated tools how could they bring these amazing things on the wall and ceiling etc. Incredibly breath-taking example of Indo - Saracenic style of architecture was seen clearly. Students enjoyed watching Gombe Thotti or Doll’s Pavilion, a collection of traditional dolls and the Golden Howdah, Naharaja’s elephant sear made of 85 kilograms of gold, saw Kalyana Mantap or Marriage Pavilion, an octagonal shaped hall with stained glass ceiling, Public Durbar Hall of Mysore Palace.
The next place we visited was St. Philomena Church. The Church was built in the Neo Gothic style with inspiration drawn from the Cologne Cathedral. The floor plan of the cathedral resembles a cross. The visit to the church gave us an overall experience of Christianity with charity giving stone tables and donations in the inner sanctuary of the Church. Then all the students were taken a Fish Land Hotel where students enjoyed the food and after that students were taken towards the last destination of the day that is to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. As it was drizzling through the day students missed the boating opportunity, yet students enjoyed watching birds, crocodiles and the glass bridge, hanging bridge and the well-manicured lawns etc. overall the field visit was a true experiential learning and reached back to college at 9.40pm
Field Visit to Byatha Seersandra Village

The Department of Political Science organized a field visit for 2nd year BA HEP & EPS students to Byatha Sersandra Village on 11th March 2022. Dr. Kaveri Swami and Dr. Mohammed Sirajuddeen accompanied the students. The journey started at 8.45 am and reached to destination at 10.15 am. After reaching to the place the students were split into two groups each carrying 28 students with one faculty member. One batch under the guidance of Dr. Mohammed Sirajuddeen visited to the primary school and the other batch under the guidance of Dr. Kaveri Swami to high school.
The Political Science students had an interactive session with the school children, they spoke about the importance of Constitution, Rights and Duties they also conducted games, played music for them. After the visit from the school the students had an interactive session with Panchayat Members of the village. During this session students learnt about the development of the village, contribution of the govt. and role of Panchayat members for the upliftment of the village. Students had hands on experience about the rural administration. Students learnt how the village was developing day by day with the people engaging on different means of occupation like dairy, agriculture and horticulture. The village was advancing with empowering the women. They were trained in stitching etc. to make them self-employed. Finally trip came an end with lot of knowledge and experience and reached college by 5.45pm
Field visit to Gandhi Bhavan
Re-living the Gandhian philosophy

Proving once again that the success of education lies in giving the students chances to connect classroom lessons to real life experiences and tangible artifacts, the Department of Political Science of Kristu Jayanti College headed by Prof. S J Michael organised a one-day study trip on 31 January 2020, Friday, for the students of 2nd and 4th semester BA JpsEng to Gandhian Centre of Studies and Janapada Loka, Bengaluru. Around 85 students participated in the study tour which rendered a great learning experience.
The students under the leadership of Dr Sneha D R, Political Science club co- ordinater and Dr. Kaveri swami, gathered in the campus at 8.30. The journey began at by 8.45 am and reached the first destination by 10.00 am. The enthusiastic students interacted with the Director of the Gandhian Study Centre. Centre for Gandhian Studies at Bangalore University offers different programmes on Gandhism and its contemporary relevance. It aims to network with likeminded organizations in propagating Gandhian values.
A short interactive lecture and learning session was arranged under the title “Relevance of Gandhi in 21ar century”. By Dr. Nataraj Huliyar, Director of the Centre of Gandhian Studies. Many students presented their views on Mahatma Gandhi, the great epitome of Satya and Ahimsa and Gandhian Era. The speeches and presentations brimmed with Gandhian ideologies, thoughts and principles and took the listeners through a journey covering the pre and post-independence and the most relevant Gandhian Era.
Dr. Nataraj Huliyar proposed the presidential address reflecting on his own experience of studying and sharing the principles of Gandhism. . The student speakers were awarded with the certificates of appreciation.
The next destination was Janapada Loka, another milestone of Indian Political History. Janapada Loka, a culmination of Indian culture and art is a folk museum that has an exclusive display of the village folk arts of Karnataka situated in Ramanagara. It helped the students to unearth the unknown historical and political facts of Indian history in general and Karnataka history in particular through the visits to the various wings of Janapada Loka such as Lokamatha Mandira, Loka Mahal, and Chitra Kuteera.
The molding of best students does not only take place within the four walls of the classroom. The second and fourth semester BA students accessed history through this study tour. It was a chance to relive the history, understand the culture and art; the physical, sensory and social aspects of the trip have enriched the learning process immensely.

The department of political science arranged a field visit to Sriramanhalli village on September 25th 2019 for the students of final year BA (JPsEng). The journey kicked off at 9:00 AM from the college premises. The journey lasted around an hour as the village is located at the outskirts of Bangalore. The programme consisted of talks by members of the village Panchayat, an interactive session with the students and a walk through various departments run by the Panchayat like the school, stitching center, canteen and catering services and organic farming land which is aided by the Panchayat.
The Programme Director, Mr. Ramaswamy started with the history of Panchayat in earlier days when the members of Panchayat were selected on hereditary basis wherein only the members of the same family could become heads of the Panchayat. The session was then taken over by Mr. Manjunath, Member of Panchayat and chairman of Raita Seva Sahakara Sanga, Rajanguntte who gave more insights into the administrative part of it. He said that all the programmes initiated by state and the center are to be implemented of which the whole responsibility lies on the Panchayat which is a huge challenge.
Mr. Manjunath also spoke about the proportional representation of heads in Panchayat. 50% representation for women besides which there is a proportional representation of SC/ST/General as well so that maximum participation of the people can be ensured.

The main objective of the study tour was to enhance skill development and to nurture practical exposure to the study of Political science.

The department of Political science organised an Educational tour to New Delhi from 21st July 2019 to 28th July 2019 along with a selected students of V SEM BA HEP/JPsENG to visit parliament museum, Rastrapathi Bhavan Museum and to attend parliamentary session. The students along with the teachers reached the capital city on 23rd of July first visited the Indian Parliament House; the supreme legislative bode of the Republic of India. The group attended the Loksabha session of the day from 2.45 pm to 3.45 pm. The visit provided golden opportunity for the students and it helped them to acquire a first hand and direct knowledge about the working of the Indian parliamentary system.
The second day of the tour witnessed visits to Qutub Minar, Red Fort and Lotus Temple and Akshardham. An average of an hour was spending in these historical monuments. The visit to Swami Narayan Akshardham Mandir, vibrant with its spiritual cultural campus and architecture on the same day brought a culmination of the enriching day.
On the third day the batch visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the esteemed residence of the President of India located at the Western end of Rajpath in New Delhi. The group under the directions of the guide gained bunch of information about the various aspects of the English architecture pioneered by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The great dome of the Central Government Office, Ashokan Hall, Durbar Hall, Mughal Gardens, Morning Room, Yellow Drawing Room, South Drawing Room, President’s study room and various other attractions added glory to the intellect and aesthetics. The Rashtrapati Museum, the only underground museum welcomed the group with artefacts of the single marble stone statues of King George and Queen Mary, the finest gifts received by various Presidents of India including the gold Chonma Chong crown presented to President A P J Abdul Kalam by His Excellency Roh Moo-Hyuh, President of Korean Republic, signed photographs of Queen Elizabeth and original drawings of the structure by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
On the whole Educational tour was fruitful for the students of Political science.
Gandhi Bhavan, Bangalore University Visit

The Department of Political Science of Kristu Jayanti College took the students under the guidance of Political Science Department Coordinator Dr. Kaveri Swami, to participate in the speech competition on account of 150th Birthday celebration of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan, Bangalore University, over the topic of “Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the present day” where all our four students bagged the prizes. The organizers gave an account of Gandhi’s life and journey in their welcome speech and motivated the students and other audience to research more on his life and teachings. Many unknown facts of Mahatma Gandhi were known to students by the expert speakers. The participants spoke about various aspects of the topic and enlightened audience about Gandhi’s life and his relevance.
Learning Outcome:
Students learnt about Gandhi’s life and his journey towards truth and non-violence. Our students Niveda Menon won 1st Prize, Reshma won 2nd Prize. Anju Ajay and Thanmaya both won Audience Prize.

The Department of Political Science organized an Educational trip to Delhi to visit Parliament House accompanied by the Head of the Department Prof. S.J.Michae4l. Fifteen students were shortlisted for this trip. The trip was scheduled from 29th July to 6th August 2018. Students witnessed the Lok Sabha session, visited Parliament Museum, India Gate and the famous Aksharamdham Temple the eternal place known for its devotion, purity and peace. Our students were stunned to see Rashtrapati Bhavan and its architecture which was beyond imagination. Many unknown facts about the Qutab Minar were discovered by our students. They also had an opportunity to visit Birla Temple and Lotus Temple.

Students learnt about Parliamentary Sessions, explored Rashtrapati Bhavan and Museum etc.
Field trip to Gandhi Bhavan and Janapada Loka
Department of political science, organized a field trip for the II sem BA HEP/JPOL students of Political science to Gandhi Bhavan and Janapadaloka Loka on 25.2.16 – to create a practical exposure to the students.
An informative documentary “RECOLLECTIONS OF SATYAGRAHI” shown to the students. Later selected students were called to talk on features of Gandhism, relevance of Gandhi. The gathering was made more entertaining by a street play on Gandhiji performed by the students of Political science department, KJC.
Dr.Nanjundan gave a lecture on major movements and marches led by Mahatma Gandhi. Dr.Jeevan Kumar, Ex-director explained the current model of development, capitalist dogmas, Gandhian challenge to capitalism and Gandhian mission of sustainable development. Later Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof.S.J.Michael, HOD, Political science, Kristu Jayanti College.
The students along with Prof.S.J.Michael visited Janapadaloka to see folk museum that has an exclusive display of the village folk arts of Karnataka. Students visited Folk arts museum, Loka Mahal, Chitra Kuteera, Doddamane, Shilamala, Arghyamala etc. to enrich their knowledge about local administration.
