10th Edition “Vidwat Sammilan” An Interactive Session with the Institution Leaders
Date: 24 August 2024

The 10th edition of the "Vidwat Sammilan" was successfully conducted on September 24, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the SKE Auditorium, PG Block, Kristu Jayanti College. This interactive session with institution leaders was organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Languages in collaboration with the Kristu Jayanti Centre for Indian Knowledge System. The event commenced with an invocation, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Gopakumar A.V, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp took place, marking the formal inauguration of the session. The Chief Guest for the event, Dr. K. Muthulekshmi, former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, then engaged the audience with her insightful interaction. Her presentation focused on “Indian Knowledge Systems—Multiplicity of Approaches and Methodologies,” which highlighted the dynamic and interconnected nature of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), touching upon various perspectives like historical, aesthetic, and gender studies, especially using the Buddhist text Therigatha as a case study.

During the session, Dr. K. Muthulekshmi was honoured with a memento, shawl, turban, and fruit basket as tokens of appreciation from the college. The felicitation was led by Fr. Dr. Lijo P. Thomas, Vice-Principal & Chief Finance Officer, who draped the shawl; Dr. Gopakumar A.V, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, who adorned the guest with the turban; Dr. Kaveri Swami, Head of the Department of Social Sciences & Languages, who presented the fruit basket; and Dr. Arpita Misra, Coordinator of the Kristu Jayanti Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, who presented the memento.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sameena M.S, faculty coordinator, followed by the college anthem. The program was well-attended and widely appreciated for its academic value and relevance to research and learning in Indian Knowledge Systems.


Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme
Date: 14 August 2024

The Department of Social Sciences organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme on 14 August 2024 at 12 PM in M4 Auditorium, Main Block. The event commenced with a compelling mime show that creatively depicted the consequences of ragging. Following the mime performance, a video screening highlighted various ragging incidents reported across India, emphasizing the gravity of the issue. The programme then featured an expert lecture by Professor Mahesh S Betasur, Assistant Professor, Kristu jayanti College of Law, who probed into the legal aspects of ragging. He provided a comprehensive understanding of the concept, the legal definition, and shared relevant case studies to illustrate different aspects of ragging. The programme effectively raised awareness among the attendees and successfully conveyed the importance of preventing ragging in educational institutions


Capacity Building Training on Life Skills Education 2024-25
Date: 09 August 2024
The Department of Social Sciences and languages in association with Centre for Life Skills Education organised Capacity Building Training on Life Skills for I year BA HPSSO students from 09th August 2024 to 13th August 2024 in room H304. The main focus of the training programme was to take the students through the ten pivotal life skills namely Self-awareness, Empathy, Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Communication, Interpersonal Relations, Coping with Emotions, and Coping with Stress. These skills are essential for a holistic and purpose-driven life. The training session were very live and interactive.

Language Training Program

ನುಡಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಎಂಬ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ೨೦೨೩-೨೪ರಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಭಾಷೆ ಎಂದರೇನು, ಅದರ ರಚನೆ ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕಲಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಷೆ ಒಳಗೊಳ್ಳುವಿಕೆಯ ವಿವಿಧ ಹಂತಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಾಗ ಅದರ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಮೂಲರಚನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಚಿಂತನೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳು ಧ್ವನ್ಯಾಂಗದ ಮೂಲಕ ಉತ್ಪತ್ತಿಯಾಗುವ ಕ್ರಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಧ್ವನ್ಯಾಂಗದ ಸಹಾಯವು ಅವುಗಳ ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವುಗಳ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದು ನುಡಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ದಿಸೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಬಿ.ಕಾಂ, ಬಿ.ಸಿಎ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನುಡಿಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅವುಗಳ ರಚನೆಯ ಪ್ರಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಇದೊಂದು ಭಾಷಾಪ್ರಯೋಗದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿದೆ.
