Documentary Screening- Unity Day

The Department of Political Science organized Documentary Screening to commemorate the National Unity Day on 30/10/24. The documentary highlighted key moments in Patel's life, including his efforts in integrating princely states and fostering national unity. The screening was attended by students, faculty, and community members, fostering an environment of learning and discussion about Patel's contributions to the nation. The Students understood the efforts put up by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the National Integration of India and what India is today. The Screening was First addressed by Aqsa Marium from 5th sem PSSO followed by documentary screening and few students prepared poster in showcasing the relevance of Unity Day and why Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as right man to be called as ‘Iron Man of India’.
Documentary Screening, Celebrating the 78th Independence Day

The Department of Political Science (PG) conducted a documentary screening, celebrating the 78th Independence Day, for the students of MA Public Administration. Two documentaries have been screened, first titled, “I am 20” by Film Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, released in 1967 to mark the 20th anniversary of India’s independence, the film provides a poignant look into the lives of individuals who were born on August 15, 1947. The documentary features interviews with several people who share their experiences and reflections on their lives, which parallel the journey of independent India. The documentary aims to draw a parallel between the growth of the nation and the lives of its citizens, highlighting how personal stories and national history intertwine. By focusing on these individuals, "I Am 20" provides a unique perspective on the impact of independence on everyday lives and the broader narrative of India's development. The second documentary is titled “Wagah” (2009) by Supriya Sen.
The documentary is based on India-Pakistan Wagah Border, from the perspective of a little boy named Manpreet Singh of Attari village. It shows his daily life and the dramatic border ceremonies, highlighting how the border affects his world. Through Manpreet’s eyes, we see the impact of the border on his community and his dreams.
Dcumentary screening on Swami Vivekananda

The Department of Political Science conducted a documentary screening on Swami Vivekananda as an educational initiative, specifically to commemorate National Youth Day. The documentary showcased the life, teachings, and the impact Swami Vivekananda had on inspiring the youths. The film covered his early days to his famous speech in 1893, emphasizing his teachings on spirituality, tolerance, and self-realization. The event brought together faculty and students, promoting unity and appreciation for Swami Vivekananda's timeless wisdom. The documentary screening was a thought-provoking and inspirational experience, in line with the college's goal of fostering holistic development and intellectual curiosity.
Movie Screeing “Rashtrapati Bhavan”

Name and details of the programme: The documentary “Rashtrapati Bhavan” was screened for the purpose of making the political science students aware about the structure and functions of the executive in Indian context.
Objectives: The fundamental objective is to increase the understanding of the students regarding the functioning of the executive in Indian context.
The club activity was held under the disciplined and organized leadership of Prof. S. J Michael (Head of the deaprtment) and the able stewardship of the club coordinators including both faculty and the students respectively. The film visualizes the magnum opus of Edwin Lurtyens; the great architectural project in Imperial India in retrospect of India’s colonial past. The tract of the movie traces the history, legends and architectural genius and the disputes that made the house of the first citizen of India. It explores the rooms, corridors and the state. Film was a visual treat which di9splayed the extra-vagant interiors and gardens. It explored the most intricate details of the Rashtrapati Bhavan and how grandly it is maintained still now. “The scene where the British flag goes down and the Indian flag is hoisted during Indian independence sent a wave of patriotism along the whole auditorium.
At the close of the event, every semester students were given different assignments relating to the movie and its message.
HITLER- MOVIE SCREENING
The department of Political Science conducted the second event in the political science club hour series on 3rd August 2015. The Movie Screening was done on the life history of Adolf Hitler, a documentary.
The movie gave the real picture of how the life of Adolf Hitler was changed during the course of time and how he developed the kind of hatred that made him a harsh and cruel dictator, from a benevolent and most widely loved leader of one of the strongest of the nations. Based on the movie screening an assignment on traits of a dictatorship was given to the students to understand the qualities of a dictator.
