Vikas Kendra is tuition program for educationally backward student of Narayanapura or Kootanur government school conducted by CSA volunteers. This tuition classes will help the school children to perform effectively in their academics and increase the effectiveness of learning. The subjects basically difficult to students like English, Maths, Science will be taught.

Vikas Kendra, an initiative of Centre for Social Activities under Jayantian Extension Service intends to impart skill enhancement training to the needy students in select schools near the vicinity of Kristu Jayanti College. Setting apart the traditional classroom methodology Vikas Kendra focuses on experiential learning, skill development, value education and creativeness of students through innovative learning strategies.
The programme was framed for one semester. Due to demand from schools we continued the programme in the next semester also. The select schools for this programme were Sri Sidhartha Srinivasa Higher Primary School, Government Higher Primary School Narayanapura. The classes were taken from Monday to Friday. The schedule for the classes was from 2.00- 3.30pm. Spoken English, Computer literacy, Basic Mathematics, Science, Science Modelling, Technical Education, Cultural Activities, Sports, Art and Craft were given importance in Vikas Kendra.
35 volunteers have been selected for the Vikas Kendra programme after screening test. The selected volunteers have undergone an orientation and various training sessions. Without disturbing the regular college hours, volunteers visited the assigned schools and engaged classes.
The impact of the programme is visible from the request from schools to continue the programme in the coming semesters also.
Centre for social activities of Kristu Jayanti College organised Vikas Kendra, a tuition Program for primary school children in Narayanapura and Kothanur government primary school from 23rd -28th November 2015 between 10 am – 2 Pm. The main objective of the program is to educate children in related to health, creativity, knowledge, computer literacy and environmental issues. The CSA volunteers of our college participated and conducted the program. The students whole heartedly conduct the program in both schools and children of both schools actively participated and learned lot of things from the program.
