I have gained valuable insights into public speaking, argument construction, and current affairs. I am grateful for the Debating Society's dedication to fostering a vibrant space for intellectual discourse. The organization of KJMUN 6.0 was exceptional. I, Alvin Binny George, would like to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible experience I've had as a member of the Debating Society DEBSOC of the Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous. From the moment I joined, thanks to Aebel Thomas Mathew who initially told me about the club and encouraged me to participate, I felt welcomed and supported by everyone. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to Dr. Rini Reba Mathew for her leadership and guidance as the faculty coordinator. I am also grateful to Samarjit and Harleen, the secretaries of the Debating Society, for organizing different course of events. The elocutions, debates, round table conferences, and MUNs. Even before coming into the debating society, I did not really know what really debating was or even if I was fit to join the club but the people around me helped prove my-self. The club also gave me opportunities to hone my debating skills, public speaking abilities, and critical thinking. These events not only challenged me intellectually but also helped me build confidence and develop a strong bond with people like me. The Debating Society at Krisu Jayanti College has been a defining part of my college experience. The professional yet friendly environment fostered by all members allowed me to learn and grow in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. I will always cherish the memories and friendships I made during my time in the club. Thank you once again for everything.

Being a member of debating society has provided me with invaluable skills such as critical thinking, public speaking, and the ability to construct persuasive arguments. The round tables have induced me to enhance my research skills, conduct effective communication, learn from my fellow members and adapt to different debate formats, topics, and opponents enriching the debating experience, and making each session challenging and intellectually stimulating. It has also given me opportunities to showcase my skills and talent in various events organised by the society such as Kairos 1.0, Oratorio and KJMUN. Also, I got to be a part of inter-collegiate MUNs in conferences like DOCMUN and PESMUN which gave me eye-opening experiences and helped me gain a plethora of knowledge.

I would like to thank the Secretaries Samarjit Singha and Harleen Dhunda for their constant guidance, support and encouragement throughout. I would also like to thank Dr. Rini Reba Mathew for giving me this chance to be a member of the Debating Society. I look forward to giving my very best to the society in the next two years as well, and look forward to even more enriching experiences and opportunities that will help me bring out the best in myself.

Debating Society is something I've been willing to join since I won Best Delegate in KJMUN 2022 in my first year of college, and to have experienced a year's experience as a Debating Society member has been an absolute honour for me. The round tables, the discussions and the experience of having chaired in KJMUN 2023, as well as having been on the EB group and organised the MUN have legitimately been one of my best experiences in college yet.

Debating Society this year has helped me articulate and refine my speaking skills even more, and has helped me understand the intricacies associated with various issues and developments that we discuss about in our Debating Society gatherings. Looking back, I have become a better speaker and thinker, and Debating Society has had an important part to play in it.

I wholeheartedly thank all faculty members associated with Debating Society for the exceptional experience this year, as well as our two esteemed student coordinators who have been exceptional in bringing out the very best out of all members. With this, I look forward to the coming year and wish to be involved in more such enriching experiences, as well as contribute my very best in all undertakings of the Society.

I am Mayank Bharti, 1st year B.Sc. Life Sciences student. My DebSoc journey began with the selection round which I was a little on edge about, so it was quite relieving to have my name selected for the society. The first session was aimed at making us familiar with the operations and mechanics o the society. From thereon, began an odyssey which impacted my academic and personal life in fairly remarkable ways.

The ‘round tables’ that we had were experiences that became both, fond memories and instruments of progress. As I actively partook in these sessions, it changed me for the better. I learned how to prepare for a debate, how to gather reliable information, how to construct strong arguments, and how to consolidate and channelize my thoughts. While debating with my fellow society members, I picked on the skill of having a decorous debate, where you interrupt the other speaker, do not attack the other speaker in your arguments and present ideas that link to sensitive subjects in a cultured manner. The competency of patient and attentive listening, formulating robust arguments, not losing the sight of the central theme/idea, agreeing to disagree, and clear and confident oration, were the ones that evolved within me. All of this proved instrumental in making my communication skill a cut above than what I had before joining the society, allowing me to elegantly present and conduct myself in academic and personal circumstances.

The excellent experience I had during the academic year 2022-23 was substantially because of the outstanding leadership of the student secretaries Mr Rohan and Ms Devika. The continuous efforts they had invested in creating an enriching experience as well as safe space, in bringing up erudite discussions, and in motivating and supporting the members towards their progress is truly commendable. Also, the faculty coordinator Dr Rini Reba Matthew through her sustained guidance allowed the society to advance and made sure of the betterment of the members. Without a doubt, it was a profound experience.

I had the privilege of being a part of the debating society of Kristu Jayanti during the past semester, and it has been a rollercoaster of learnings and I am thrilled to share my incredible journey.

Joining DebSoc in my second year had a profound impact on my college life, far beyond my expectations. Each month, we engaged in heated, passionate, and lively roundtable debates on a wide range of topics, from political structures and technology to contemporary trends and socio-economic struggles, that not only prompted me to conduct extensive research and explore new subjects but also challenged me to think differently, to challenge my beliefs. Just when I thought my argument was infallible, the perspectives offered by my fellow debaters forced me to consider alternative viewpoints.

Debating at DebSoc has taught me the true value of originality of thought and the importance of having malleable perspectives. I have learned to be open to new ideas and embrace the wisdom shared by Mark Twain: 'Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.' The challenges I faced during debates have encouraged me to expand my knowledge further by conducting additional research even after the debates were over.

Academically, DebSoc has instilled in me numerous virtues and exposed me to a wide range of subjects. From Marxism to machine learning, economics to existence, privacy to publicity, we have explored various topics in our debates, broadening my understanding of the world and enhancing my critical thinking abilities. Additionally, my role as Chairperson of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) allowed me to hone my listening and mediating skills while deepening my knowledge of human rights issues. By moderating UN procedures, I fostered a collaborative environment where every delegate's voice was heard and respected. Drawing from my past experience in Model United Nations (MUNs), I endeavoured to make the UNHRC an engaging and productive committee, delving into various human rights topics and developing my leadership and diplomacy skills.

I am incredibly grateful to DebSoc for providing me with platforms to grow intellectually, personally, and professionally. The supportive environment, stimulating discussions, and camaraderie among fellow debaters and delegates have made my college experience truly enriching and one that I will never forget. I extend my deepest appreciation to the faculty advisors, fellow debaters, and mentors for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this transformative journey. I'm excited to continue leveraging the lessons and experiences gained from my involvement with DebSoc and the UNHRC to contribute positively to both my academic pursuits and personal endeavors. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my testimonial

I have always had a profound love for storytelling and grew up speaking my mind, the Debating Society was the perfect place for me to channel this passion, I was enamoured by the Executive Board of KJMUN 4 in my first year and decided then that I want to be a part of DebSoc and do what they do. Life has indeed come a full circle in the past two semesters as I have had the Privilege of being a DebSoc member, attending various round tables, placing second in Oratorio and being the Vice Chairperson of UNSC in KJMUN 5. from eagerly waiting for the round table topics to arguing my heart out in a room full of likeminded people, each round table was insightful, thought provoking and full of laughs, DebSoc was always a safe space to speak our mind.

when I was given the opportunity to be the vice-chairperson of UNSC, I spent two months working and learning with some of the brightest students at Kristu Jayanti and grew in capacities I did not think myself capable of, I have made friends in the association that will last a lifetime and can't wait to see what the coming year holds for us.
