Alumni Meet Session on Anchoring Fundamentals

The Alumni Meet session at Kristu Jayanti College, led by Avinash Salguneswaran and Nishani Sahoo, focused on the fundamentals of anchoring. Participants explored the significance of anchoring in various media settings, including television, radio, and digital platforms, as well as the diverse roles anchors play, from TV news to podcasts and event hosting.The session emphasized essential skills for hosting and emceeing, highlighting the importance of managing events, engaging audiences, and incorporating entertainment elements. Attendees gained valuable insights into public speaking, voice modulation, body language, and effective event management, aimed at enhancing their communication and presentation abilities.This engaging meet provided participants with a solid foundation in anchoring, fostering enthusiasm for further development in their roles.
‘Tema de Mesa - A Minute, No Limit’

On October 24, 2024, the Anchors’ Association of Kristu Jayanti College hosted ‘Tema de Mesa - A Minute, No Limit,’ the inaugural competition of the ‘Emcee Expo’ series. This one-minute impromptu speech contest was exclusively for association members and took place in the A1 auditorium at 12:00 PM, attracting 48 participants from various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Contestants were assigned topics using a random number generator, leading to a diverse range of entertaining subjects, from “attending an ex’s wedding” to “the most embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.”Participants had to navigate these challenging scenarios while delivering engaging speeches within a strict one-minute time limit, showcasing their improvisational skills and ability to entertain the audience. The event not only highlighted the talents of the anchors but also fostered camaraderie and fun among the members. ‘Tema de Mesa’ proved to be an exciting kickoff for the Emcee Expo series, setting the stage for future competitions.
Orientation Meet

On October 7, 2024, the Anchors’ Association of Kristu Jayanti College held its inaugural meeting for the academic year 2024-25 in the M3 auditorium. The orientation began at 2:30 PM, with 45 students from various departments in attendance, including both undergraduate and postgraduate members.The orientation included formal and informal sessions. In the formal segment, experienced members shared insights on anchoring styles, emphasizing best practices such as enunciation, pronunciation, appropriate dress code, and crowd engagement. Positive messages from veteran anchors, who are alumni, were also screened.The informal session involved ice-breaker games led by dynamic anchors, helping new members integrate into the group.To mark the start of the academic year, the secretaries unveiled a redesigned logo for the Anchors’ Association.
Mic Drop’24 : Intracollege Anchoring Competition

On February 12th the Anchors Association of Kristu Jayanti College hosted the second edition of the Intra Collegiate fest MicDrop’ 24 which had multiple sub-events, providing a platform for participants to showcase their skills in various fields. Quill and Quire, Impersonations, Mic Maestro, JAM and Flipside Face-Off were the competitive events.
Anchors’ Allure 2.0

On 21st of February, the Anchor's Association of Kristu Jayanti college conducted an informal meet-up event for its members, called Anchors’ Allure 2.0. More than 35 students from various disciplines and departments across the college attended the event. The event had multiple fun activities that centred around honing the skills of the anchors. Option E, Frame the Question, Recreate the Meme, Pick and Argue were a few of the games that had been arranged for the association members. They were all prompted to think on the spot and get along with their fellow teammates to come up with successful results.
EMCEE Expo 2024

The Anchor’s Association hosted 'Emcee Expo' for the anchors of the year 2023–2024 on February 5, 2024, through Zoom Platform.
The programme was conducted to ensure that all anchors’ association members got a chance to showcase their talents across several skills including scripting, emceeing, debating etc. The competitions were held online and supervised by student led teams. The responses from participants were enthusiastic and mind-blowing. The program concluded with smiles and cheers on faces of all the members.
Anchors’ Association - Alumni Meet

Hosted by Anchor's Association, the Alumni Meet 2024 was a lively event blending nostalgia and skill development. Audiences gathered in the A1 auditorium of the admin block, Kristu Jayanti College, where Ayush Raj MC, our guest was welcomed with a sapling by Sneha Suresh ma’am. Soon after, Ayush Raj initiated the gathering with a unique activity where attendees shared their anchoring fears. Tips and experiences were exchanged, focusing on effective communication and confidence. He focused on the concept of “Listen, Think and Response” and explained it to the audience with examples. Questions and doubts were answered. The session was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd. Following the session, Arnet Biju and Aisheeka Saha organized a fun dialogue presentation activity titled “The Dramatic Roulette” exploring various emotions. An active voluntary participation was seen throughout. Finally, Arpan Christian wrapped up the event while expressing his sincere gratitude. Last but not the least, a memento was presented to the guest as a token of appreciation. Overall, the event reflected the Anchor's Association spirit—a brief, impactful journey of learning and camaraderie.
Ameliorate: Anchors' Meet

On 11th January, the Anchor's Association of Kristu Jayanti College conducted Ameliorate, the association’s first session in the even semester of the academic year 2023-24. As the event name suggests, seasoned anchors Stevin Joseph and Sukhil Suresh organized this session to enhance the emceeing ability of the members present in the M2 Auditorium, Main Block. Beginning at 12pm, an hour was focused on giving a comprehensive overview of an anchor’s good and bad practices, from mic-checks, time management, script changes to dressing, co-emcee dynamics, body language and branding. Anchors from the audience were also invited on the stage to try impromptu emceeing, whereafter errors and areas of improvement were discussed. The event proved to be a very beneficial one as the members could interact with and learn about each other, vital for dual emcee events. The hosts signed off with the essential learning of keeping up the same energy throughout an event. After an engaging hour, the session came to a conclusion at 1pm.
Anchors’ Allure - Capability Enhancement Programme

The Anchor’s Association hosted 'Allure' for the anchors of the year 2023–2024 on November 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m at the M3 Auditorium. Ms. Ammu warmly greeted the anchors, fostering an atmosphere of enthusiasm. Ms. Ruth Magdelene, part of the faculty, attended to show support and joined the anchors in the game. Mr. Surendar and Mr. Porchelvan conducted the program, showcasing unique ideas on stage. The first segment highlighted members' talents, with all anchors singing harmoniously. Participants for the initial round were selected by drawing lots, and volunteers joined the subsequent game. The second round, named 'Option E' inspired by 'The Steve Harvey Show,' challenged members to provide a fifth, unconventional option. The responses, both from participants on stage and audience members, were enthusiastic and mind-blowing. The program concluded with smiles and cheers on faces of all the members as Mr. Gulam conveyed the vote of thanks.
Orientation Programme on Emceeing

The M3 Auditorium hosted the orientation meeting for the new anchors for the year 2023–2024 on October 17, 2023, from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ms. Anupriya Jaiswal warmly welcomed each of the newly appointed anchors, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm. Following that the association secretaries, Ms. Nishani and Mr. Avinash, went on stage to give the members an overview of the club's purpose, as well as its many opportunities and guidelines. All the members were also introduced to the faculty coordinators and the core team. All members were encouraged to explore and join the various teams within the association based on their interests and capabilities. This time was taken to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the anchors who contributed to the success of the Jnanadharshan event. Their commitment was celebrated and served as an inspiration to all gathered.
Lastly, the new members were presented with their association badges. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Siddhartha Maitra and a group photo.
Mic Drop 23
Date: 12 April 2023
The Anchors’ Association organised Mic Drop ’23, the final event by the Anchors’ for intra college participants. There were four events organized – The Great Impersonation, Perspectives, Mic Maestro and JAM. The events were opened out for registration for all UG students and saw a good number of participants signing up for all events. The judges were from internal departments, however one external judge for JAM was invited.
The valedictory function was held at 4:00 p.m. and the winner’s were awarded their certificates by Fr. Deepu Joy.
