Lupeol is one of the important pharmacological components present in Gendarussa vulgaris. It has many medicinal properties including anticancer, anti inflammatory etc. It mainly affects the functioning of the interleukin system. Lupeol has been found to have a contraceptive effect due to its inhibiting effect on the calcium channel of sperm, due to which the plant is widely used as a male contraceptive. The phytochemical extracts like alkaloid, terpenoid, flavonoid and glycoside extract of plants also showed considerable antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative strains.

2. Friedelin

3. ß-sitosterol (5-Ethyl-6-methylheptan-2-y)
