This was followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the quest for knowledge and enlightenment.
Dr. Aby Augustine, The Head of Media Studies Department, in his welcome address, emphasized the significance of media education in shaping responsible communication professionals. He underscored the relevance of platforms like Madhyam Samvedhan in bridging academic learning with industry practices, setting the tone for the day's proceedings.
The event's highlight was the keynote address by Mr. Lawrence Kishore, an award winning film editor. Mr. Kishore shared his professional journey and practical insights into media production, creativity, and industry trends. His session was not just informative but also deeply inspiring for the students present. Mr. Kishore stressed that patience and precision are vital qualities for a successful editor. He explained that editing is not merely about technical proficiency, but also about presenting stories with clarity, coherence, and emotional impact. His engaging Q&A session saw students actively discussing creative challenges, collaboration with directors, and emerging technologies in post-production. Mr. Kishore's advice to students was to stay observant, practice continuously, and refine both technical and storytelling skills to excel in the competitive media industry.

The Department of Media Studies, under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), successfully hosted the 2nd Edition of Mādhyam Samvedhan, its interactive media leadership series on October 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Auditorium H2, Humanities Block.
The highlight of the session was the compelling expert address delivered by the chief guest, Shri N Lingusamy, the acclaimed film director, producer, and screenwriter of South Indian film industry. Known for his significant contributions to cinema, Shri Lingusamy shared profound insights drawn from his extensive career. He captivated the audience of aspiring media professionals with anecdotes and practical wisdom on the nuances of filmmaking, from screenwriting to direction. His address served as a powerful source of inspiration, encouraging students to pursue their creative ambitions with passion and resilience.

First edition of Madhyam Samvedhan Interactive Media Leadership Series

The inaugural ceremony of the first edition of Madhyam Samvedhan Interactive Media Leadership Series was held on October 3, 2025, at the Auditorium H2, 7th Floor, Humanities Block. The event was attended by an eager gathering of students, and faculty, all of whom were keen to engage with the thought-provoking insights of the esteemed resource person, Shri. T J Gnanavel, a renowned Tamil film director and screenwriter. Following the opening remarks, the spotlight turned to Shri. T J Gnanavel, who was the keynote speaker for the event. Known for his impactful work in Tamil cinema, Shri. Gnanavel took the stage and spoke passionately about his journey in the film industry. His presentation was a mix of personal anecdotes and professional insights, emphasizing the crucial role of leadership, creativity, and resilience in Cinema.
After the keynote, the event transitioned into an interactive session where Shri. Gnanavel engaged with the audience, answering questions and sharing more of his thoughts on media leadership. Several students from the audience asked about his perspective on the future of Indian cinema and the increasing influence of digital media. As the event concluded at 4:30 PM, attendees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from one of the leading voices in the Tamil film industry.
