Mediarchy 2025: Media Fest Showcases Creativity, Talent, and Media Spirit

The Department of Media Studies, Kristu Jayanti University, inaugurated its much-awaited Intra-University Media Fest Mediarchy 2025 on September 29, 2025, with the theme “Echos and Edits: Crafting Truth in Word and Image.” The fest was inaugurated by Dr. Gopakumar A.V., Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, who in his address emphasized the power of media in shaping narratives and underscored the importance of truth and ethics in journalism, urging students to balance creativity with responsibility.
The festival provides a vibrant platform for students to explore diverse forms of storytelling through words, visuals, and digital formats. Featuring competitions in creative writing, photography, film-making, reporting, and design challenges, Mediarchy 2025 celebrates innovation and critical thinking in media practice.
Dr. Gopakumar A.V., Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof. Aby Augustine, Head, Department of Media Studies; Mr. Abraham and Ms. Christina Viswanathan, Faculty Coordinators for Mediarchy were also present in the inauguration of the fest.

Focus 2025: Photography Exhibition Commemorating World Photography Day

The Department of Media Studies at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru hosted Focus 2025, the Annual Photography Exhibition, on 19 August 2025. The exhibition was inaugurated by Fr. Joshy Mathew, Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) and Director, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, who praised the students for their collaborative effort in bringing the event to life. After the inauguration, the exhibition opened to university students and faculty from 11:00 am in the M2 Auditorium, where photographs were displayed through creative installations designed by the students themselves. From nearly 300 submissions, 270 exceptional photographs were chosen for the exhibition.
The exhibition was organized in three main segments. First, Photography Timeline Posters, created by MA MC and MA JMC students, traced the evolution of photography. Second, Photo Essays, contributed by BA MC and BA JMC students, wove narratives through powerful visual storytelling. Finally, the Photography Exhibition presented a curated selection of works from BA and BSc Visual Communication students, alongside participants from other media streams. Three diverse themes guided the showcase: Fragments of Sun, capturing beauty shaped by sunlight; Forgotten Things, celebrating the old, broken, vintage, and abandoned; and In Their Element, portraying individuals immersed in their passions and daily rhythms. The exhibition drew an overwhelmingly positive response, particularly for its diversity and creativity at display.

Lumos 2025: The Annual Photography Exhibition Celebrates Creativity and Photography Excellence

The Department of Media Studies, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous organized Lumos 2025, the annual photography exhibition, on 20 February 2025. The exhibition was inaugurated by Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous who commended the students for their collaborative efforts in bringing the event to life. Following the inauguration, the exhibition was open to the college community from 10:00 am. The photographs were displayed in front of the Humanities Block, complemented by creative installations designed by students. Lumos 2025 showcased over 250 photographs from aspiring photographers across various departments, including contributions from teaching and non-teaching staff. With an open theme, the event encouraged broad participation, resulting in a diverse and captivating collection of images. The photographs were categorized into different themes and meticulously displayed, highlighting the creative vision and photography skills of Jayantians. The exhibition received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with visitors praising the artistic excellence, creativity, and meticulous curation of the showcased works.

Mediarchy 2025: An Intracollegiate Media Fest

The Department of Media Studies organized Mediarchy 2025, an intra-collegiate media fest, centered around the theme Mindscapes. The event featured a variety of off-stage competitions, including Photography, Graphic Designing, Graphic Storytelling, News Writing, and Podcasting, held from February 03 to 05, 2025. The inaugural ceremony was held on February 06, 2025 at A3 Auditorium from 9:30 am followed by various on-stage events such as Concept Ad, Crisis Management, and News Presentation. The fest was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine George, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, who highlighted the power of storytelling through visuals and creativity. The chief guest, Ms. Kavya Pradeep, Multimedia Journalist at Frontline Magazine, The Hindu, Chennai, and an esteemed alumna of the department, shared her experiences on how such platforms played a pivotal role in discovering talents and fostering creativity for impactful storytelling. The valedictory ceremony was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Joshy Mathew, Director of the Library and Information Centre, Director of the HR Department and Head, Department of English. In his address, he emphasized the significance of creating a lasting impact through the art of storytelling. The overall champions of Mediarchy 2025 were the students of the II Semester BA Journalism and Mass Communication programme, showcasing their exceptional skills and creativity.
