Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) has been a beacon of learning and innovation since its inception in 1999 as an affiliated institution under Bangalore University. The institution is managed by the Christian missionaries belonging to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), St. Joseph Province, Kottayam, Kerala. Kristu Jayanti attained autonomous status in 2013 and was conferred Deemed-to-be University status on July 8, 2025, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide letter No. 9-13/2025 - U.3(A), by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the General Category.
During the late 1990s, the majority of higher education institutions in Bangalore were concentrated in the southern and eastern regions of the city, while the northern part of Bangalore District remained largely semi-urban and rural, with limited educational infrastructure and industrial development. To address this gap and foster academic growth and socio-economic transformation in the region, Kristu Jayanti was established at K. Narayanapura, Kothanur.
Today, Kristu Jayanti Deemed to be University stands as a dynamic centre of excellence, committed to scholarship, leadership, and societal impact. The institution strives to fulfil its mission of providing educational opportunities for aspiring youth to excel in life by promoting academic excellence, fostering values, creating civic responsibility, inculcating environmental concern, and building global competencies in a dynamic environment.
The institution was re-accredited with the highest grade ‘A++’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in its third cycle of accreditation in 2021. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, it secured 34th place and continues to feature among the top 100 colleges in the country. Furthermore, the programmes of the School of Management are internationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA.
In 2020, the institution was accorded DBT Star College status under the strengthening component by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. Over the years, Kristu Jayanti has consistently been recognized as one of the leading institutions in national and international rankings and surveys conducted by various agencies.
