Accommodation and TA will not be provided for the Participants

Computers are able to see, hear and learn. Welcome to the future.

The workshop is intended to introduce the concepts of Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks. The course would also include hands-on sessions where the participants would learn to implement Deep Neural Network models for simple problems. No background in the machine learning is assumed on part of the participants.

It is assumed that the paticipants have knowledge of Porbability Theory and Linear Algebra at the level of introductory postgraduate courses.

This workshop will cover the topics of Machine Learning which includes an Overview, Statistical Models for Classification, An Overview of Neural Network Models, Deep Neural Networks and Applications, Support Vector Machines, Implementing Neural Network Classifiers and Implementing Deep Neural Networks.

The objective of the workshop is:

  • To help students, teachers and researchers gain basic understanding of Machine Learning
  • To motivate students, teachers and researchers to upgrade their skills in the context of the current technological trends
  • To help gain some idea of the research areas in Machine Learning

The workshop is sponsored by The Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), Bengaluru in association with Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi and The National Academy of Science India (NASI), Allahabad.

The IASc was established in 1934 by Sir C.V.Raman, aims at promoting the progress and upholding the cause of Science in pure and applied branches.

The major activities of IASc includes recognition of scientific talent and improvement of science education.
