Value Added Course - Career Building through Knowledge Acquisition
Department of Commerce conducted Value Added Courses for third semester B.com students on " Career Building through Knowledge Acquisition " for the academic year 2021 - 2022. 30 hours classes were conducted from 07/08/2020 to 18/08/2021 on various topics including Insurance and banking sector, Logistics and supply chain, Event Management and Higher education and professional courses. Classes were organized through zoom platform and on August 19th 2021, VAC exam was conducted for third semester B.com Students through kristujayanti exam LMS. 50 MCQ were incorporated in the VAC exam. Certificates will be issued to eligible candidates.
Value Added Course – Personnel Effectiveness and Employability Enhancement
Department of Commerce conducted Value Added Courses for fifth-semester B.com students on "Personnel Effectiveness and Employability Enhancement" for 2021 – 2022 academic year. Thirty hours classes were conducted from 06 August 2021 to 17 August 2021 on various topics, including Personal Effectiveness, Personal Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Communication Skills, Professional Behavior, Recruitment, Selection and Employment Enhancement. Classes were organized through the zoom platform, and on August 18th, 2021, the VAC exam was conducted for the final B.com Students through kristujayanti exam LMS. 50 MCQ were incorporated in the VAC exam, and certificates will be issued to eligible candidates.
Value Added Course – Corporate Grooming & Personality Development & Etiquette
B.Com First Year - Even Semester -2020
Value added class for all first year B.Com students were conducted from 09.12.2019 to 11.12.2019 and the examination for the same was conducted on 18.01.2020
Total number of students enrolled = 841
Total number of students eligible for writing exam=821
Total number of students attended exam= 793
Total number of students cleared the exam =770
Out of 841 students enrolled, 793 students attempted Value Added Course Corporate Grooming & Personality Development & Etiquette exam and 770 cleared the same. Remaining 28 students couldn’t take up the exam due to some personal and technical issues and 20students were not eligible to write the exam due to attendance shortage in the value added course.
VAC on Career Building through Knowledge Acquisition
The Department of Commerce conducted Value Added Course “Career Building through Knowledge Acquisition” to III Sem BCom students for the academic year 2020 - 2021. The course was carried out for ten days commencing from 03/08/2020 till 14/08/2020. Three sessions were conducted on each day covering a total of 30 sessions for the entire course. The course included five modules
1. Insurance and Banking Sector
2. Logistics and Supply Chain
3. Event Management-Personal Events
4. Event Management - Corporate Events and Public relations
5. Higher Education and Professional Courses
These modules were handled by the teachers of our department. III BCom students were segregated in different batches. The course would surely help the students in attaining the following outcomes.
Value Added Course – Business Ethics & Corporate Governance
VI B.Com- Even semester – 2019 - 2020
The Department of Commerce conducted Value Added Course “Business Ethics & Corporate Governance in the month of December, 2019; offered to VI. B.Com students for the academic year 2019-2020. The course was conducted by Faculty members of Commerce – Prof. Vijayakumar, Prof. Annie Stephen, Prof. Gokila Vani, Prof. Kiran Kumar, Prof. Ajith, Prof. Rashmi Rekha Goswami, Prof. Shiny Mathew, Prof. Reenu Mohan, Prof. Nagadeepa, Prof. Chandrakala, Prof. Arti Singh.
533 students registered and attended the Programme comprising of 18 hours of practical coaching. On the completion of the course, students appeared an online examination for the course; out of 533 students 479 cleared the exam.
The classes were conducted on 09th, 10th & 11th December 2019 in their respective classrooms.

The course was offered to the students with an objective of creating awareness on the basic aptitude skills and various Reasoning methods with regards to their employability. It also helps the students to learn data interpretation and analysis in brief.
Value Added Course is a Certificate Course conducted by department of commerce to complement students' knowledge and skills in their field of study. It is organized by the department based on current trends, relevance and value in the job-market. It is important for higher education institutions to supplement the curriculum to make students better prepared to meet industry demands as well as develop their own interests and aptitude skills. Department conducted the course for the students of IV semester B.Com for the year 2019-2020. The course intends to improvise the aptitude skills of students and enhance their employability skills. It was conducted from 9th to 12th December 2019, between 9:00-3:30 p.m. The lectures covered topics like data interpretation, arithmetic ability, verbal ability and reasoning. The sessions were conducted with the efficient usage of ICT tools.
NSDC (National Skill development Corporation) : certificate programme on BFSI (Banking Financial Services and Insurance) by the Government of India under STAR (Standard Training Assessment and Rewards)
The Department has a set of Value Added Courses which adds merit to the curriculum learning of students. Certificate courses in Insurance Management, Retail Management, Excel, and Stock Market Management are also offered.
CA-CPT/CS Parallel Programme
The Centre for Professional Studies was established in the year 2003 with the objective of providing value based quality education to the B.Com and BBA students who want to pursue professional courses. It is a platform to prepare for the entry level exams of Company Secretaryship and Chartered Accountancy. The Centre is in collaboration with two Professional Bodies in this regard - Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The Centre facilitates training to enable students to become members of Professional Bodies - Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in the future. Regular attendance monitoring and tests keep students prepared for the exams which take place every June and December.
CENTRE FOR PROFESSIONAL STUDIES (CPS): In today’s competitive world, a post-graduate degree or a professional qualification has become the need of the hour to enhance the competitive ability of the students and improve the job prospects. The world today sees a paradigm shift in talent acquisition. Commerce and its related discipline bring a plethora of opportunities for students. A young commerce graduate would find ample opportunities in the corporate world and even more if he/she is in sync with the needs of the industry both in terms of intellect and skills.
Keeping this in mind, the Professional Interface Forum is established to empower the students to be agents of transformation and development at various levels of life. This forum aims at equipping its students to enrich their knowledge and enhance skills to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving world.
In this regard, the Professional Interface program conducted two guest lectures for the students. The guest speaker CA Narayanan Nambiar, spoke on the future prospects of a Chartered Accountant and the current changing trends in the fields of Accounting and Taxation. Guest speaker CA George Victor Crasta, spoke on the issues in taxation, to keep the students abreast with the changing roles and dynamism of the CA profession. Emphasizing on the need of clearing the exams by igniting the power that lies within oneself, CA Annie Stephen motivated the students to take up the professional exams with confidence backed by hard work and determination.
Certification Programme on Tally ERP 9:
The Certification programme is offered by Tally in collaboration with NICT for all the B.Com students. The programme is part of curriculum with an objective to impart practical training on Tally ERP 9.
