The 4th edition of the International Conference on Current Trends in Advanced Computing was conducted on 10th and 11th March 2016. The inaugural function was held at 9.30 AM on 10th morning and we had two eminent personalities Mr. Ramakrishna Kappagantu, Director R10 Region IEEE, as the Chief Guest and Mr. Jonathan Michael, Professor, western Trinity University, Canada as the ‘Guest of Honor’. Prof. R. Kumar, Head of Post Graduate Department of Computer Science, presented the Prelude to the conference.
The chief guest in his inaugural address ignited our thoughts on relevant policies and strategies to adopt in academic activities through IEEE.
Prof. Jonathan, in his message, expressed his happiness to be a part of the conference. He briefed about Debugging on Advanced Computing and enlightened the audience with his versatility on the topic.
The soft copy of the conference proceedings and the dept. newsletter were officially released by the honourable guests during the ceremony.
To conclude the inaugural ceremony, Prof. Velmurugan, Publication chair - ICCTAC 2016, proposed the vote of thanks.
The first technical session was handled by Dr. Gopal Pingali, Distinguished Engineer, IBM. He elaborated on the shift of enterprises to "as a Service" model: Opportunities and Challenges.
The second technical session was handled by Dr. Senthil Rajan, Director, Computer Science, Alagappa University. He gave insights about the topic “Interactive data language that illustrates the research work in Digital Image”. He spoke about IDL and its usage in the field of image processing and retrieval. Dr. Senthil also gave some highlights on the applications and research opportunities of IDL in image processing.
During the post lunch session of the first day we had Technical Session III which was entitled on "Cloud Computing and Internet of Things - Key enablers for Digital India & Smart Cities" delivered by Ms. Pamela Kumar, Vice President, Cloud Computing Innovation Council of India. She enlightened the participants about the research and challenges in Cloud Inter-operability for Digital India. She also threw light on the Cloud Infrastructure of Public sector, Smart City challenge and Accelerating cloud computing adoption and innovation in India. She encouraged the researchers to model new protocols and infrastructure for Digital India.
The first day was ended with paper presentations. Dr. Pethru Raj, Cloud architect, IBM India, Bangalore chaired the session. Eight papers on advanced computing topics were presented on the first day by various presenters.
The second day started with paper presentations where Eight Papers were presented.
Technical session IV was in particular to be mentioned due to the presence of an IEEE Bangalore section present Chairman Dr. K. V. S. Hari, who spoke on the topic “Multiple Input and Multiple Output Embedded Systems”
The Last session of the conference was on R Programming and Data Analysis on R that was conducted by Dr. Vinod Kumar Murti, I Nurture Solutions. It was a practical hands-on session on the topics of Basic R Commands, Linear and Non – linear regression and Cluster analysis. The session was very useful to the participants pursuing their research using the tool and they graded it as one of the best sessions of our conference.
This two day International Conference had participants from various parts of the country from premier institutions which included faculty members of various universities and colleges, research scholars and post graduate students; We initially received 86 papers and after three levels of scrutiny 16 papers were selected and presented. These papers will be included in IEEE Xplore with ISBN no 978-1-5090-1936-6.
All the sessions were interactive and participative. I am sure all the delegates would have a great learning experience these two days.
The conference was well organized and saw a great success due to the continuous pain taking efforts by the entire faculty members of the Department and the students, under the coordination of Prof. R. Kumar, Chief Convener of ICCTAC and Head, Post Graduate Department of Computer Science and able support from the management.
A successful ending leaves the doors open for a new beginning, new hopes and new dreams. Wish u all, all the very best.
