The Department of Computer Science (PG) had organized a rural exposure camp for the third year MCA students where they were taken to Purushanahalli, Doddabalapur (D.T), Bangalore. They were given with an opportunity to interact, teach and guide the village citizens and the students of Sri. Siddaganga High School.
The camp was scheduled for two days and various events were conducted
1) Training the students with respect to life skills.
2) Cleaning the premises.
1) Visiting the farms.
2) Conducted a session for the students on the topics related to technology and career guidance.
3) Visiting the villagers and conducting a study and analysis based on how far the villagers are accustomed to the latest technological out growth.
On the 1st day during the training, sessions related to the life skills was given. Interesting stories related to few life skills were told and games were conducted. During the sessions the school children were lively and interactive.
Few set of our students were engaged in cleaning, arranging and helping the cook to make the two days stay a better one.
On the 2nd day, a visit to the nearby cattle farm was made where the students were allowed to interact with the cattle breeders and learn the strategy that they have followed to implement various methods of cattle farming and also the breeding.
Training to the school children was given on the topics related to technologies like mobiles and computers. They were also given an awareness related to their career based on how they have to approach, learn and decide the right course according to their ambitions.
A few set of MCA students were engaged in information gathering by meeting the villagers and collecting information related to their awareness of emerging technologies, using a questionnaire on the topic - “Digital India”. These collected data will be used for analysis.
The two days of rural exposure has given the students the ability to stay out of the comfort zone, the city atmosphere, ability to learn, teach and also to know the life of the rural people.
