The department of management studies of KristuJayanti School of Management had organized an industrial visit to 'TVS Motor Company (Hosur)', for the 1st year MBA & PGDM students on September 3rd& 4th. As a part of the curriculum the students were taken to TVS Motor Companyaccompanied by the faculty, to connect with the industry in order to inculcate practical knowledge and application of skills, TVS Motor Company is one of the largest two wheeler manufacturer in India and also in the world. The students were received by Mr. K. P. Sreenoop (Asst Manager, HR) and his team who briefed the students about the inception and growth of the company. The HR team headed by Mr.Sreenoop, then guided the students throughout explaining the entire functioning of TVSM. The TVS campus consisted of 3 plants- plant_1 dealt with manufacturing of (Jupiter, Wego and moped), while plant_2 dealt with manufacturing of prime two wheeler products and plant_3 where TVS & BMW had a joint venture to manufacture Superbikes. The students were taken to Plant-1, where TVS- Jupiter, Wego and Moped were being manufactured. The five core process was explained to the students in detail and they were taken to each unit, starting from Machining shop, Engine assembly, Paint shop, Vehicle assembly and finally the Fabrication unit. The students were fascinated by the use of robots in manufacturing the vehicles. The students were also awestruck by the fact that it took only 28secs for making one vehicle in assembly line.
The visit to TVS motors helped the students to connect better with the industry and to know a lot about the effectiveness of the work undertaken. The students could also witness the utmost dedication of the workers to deliver the products on time, with a consistent check on quality. The students also learnt about different manufacturing procedures and also division of work among the personnel.
